The OC Weekly strikes again. I just happened to pick up the issue where they featured the restaurant, well, featured the barracoa. Once they describes the BBQ lamb, served fatty with salsa and tortillas, I was in. It did not disappoint. The place is a whole in the wall catering to a Mexican crowd, bit that just tells you is should be pretty good. Since I had the dog in tow, I sat in one of the two outside tables. Food comes out very fast, and the lamb is exactly as advertised, flavorful and succulent, with plenty of fat (easy to trip off if you like, but why would you?). The plate is served with rice and beans, a small salad and a couple of what I assume are house made tortillas. I'll be back. read more

Siete 7 mares soup & Caldo de rez was delicious at this place! Came in last minute with my friend Maria not knowing they was about to close and they still made our food. The rich broth was wholesome and yummy. Love it! Hit the spot will be coming back for other Mexican food items here. read more

Sooooo bad. Very expensive for old tasting carne asada. Carnitas was cold and bright pink for some reason. Al Pastor was edible but really lacking in flavor. I waited over 30 minutes in an empty restaurant for two burritos and a dozen small tacos. Paid over $60! No way I will ever return. read more

The food is O. K but not really worth the price. It was. a little more than what I expected. They didn't have shredded white meat chicken they only had grilled chicken / cubbed chicken meat for their meals. The salsa did have flavor but not a spicy flavor very similar to thier pickled chillies it had flavor but just not spicy flavor like I'm used to. My wife ate their fried tacos plate but she mentioned that the tacos shells were pre fried not like she is accustomed to. She much prefers her taco shells to be freshly fried. I was surprised being that everyone mainly spoke Spanish. Maybe it's "Mexican" food but really from Central America? I don't know it didn't taste like Mexican food that I'm used to. read more

I recently had lunch here and the prior reviews of this place had sparked my curiosity. This is a small mom and pop Mexican spot in an older strip center. Nothing fancy at all. I ordered the quesadilla calabaza (squash blossoms) and a carnitas taco. The quesadilla calabaza was not very good. The squash blossoms were undercooked and did not have that great of flavor. I have had stuffed squash blossoms at other places and they can be pretty good. The cheese in the quesadilla was not melted. The carnitas taco was just so-so. The carnitas meat was moist but lacking in flavor and did not have the crisp crust/bark on the outside that I like. The horchata here was pretty good. And the salsas, which you could tell were homemade, were good as well. Would I return? No. read more

The food was good and one particular waiter Rito Valadez deserves 5 stars. His team of waiters served our 22 member group with great attitudes and efficiently. I recommend any hour of the day for they are ready to serve you. I especially like their Sunday brunch and Taco Tuesday's. read more

Damn I don't usually leave reviews, but I had the most disappointing torta of my life. I ordered it with al pastor and everything on it, but I swear it could've been mistaken for a vegetarian torta. Thin layer of everything with a few sprinkles of meat here and there. It was more like eating bread. My friend got a burrito with everything included, and it was about 65% rice. Maybe they aren't known for tortas or burritos, but if you want either, I'd save my money for Cancun Juice or Taqueria de Anda down the street. If you order it with everything, it's not that cheap either. Service was great though, and they gave chips and salsa. read more

Small tiny authentic mexican restaurant, not a jewel, but the food is exquisite, the rest doesn't matter. Excellent service. The restaurant does need some beautification (new paint, tiles). The food, prize, and service is 5 stars. read more

We came in tonight for my sister's birthday and her graduation. We were seated promptly in 15 minutes on the patio on a busy night. We waited twenty minutes and I got up to grab nearby menus. After about 25 minutes I got up and informed the manager kindly of the situation. Someone came over for us and took our drink order and food order (family of 5) all water with lemon and a pina colada for the birthday girl! We waited about 15 more minutes for our waters. After about 20 more minutes before we received our food. I was a server for 8 years so I know how hectic things can get. Our servers were great once they came around but the care/concern did not appear to be there from the management team. Typically my father would cause a HUGE scene but I kept requesting that he didn't. Thankfully, we got out after almost 2 hours and we were full on chips and took our food togo. :( The team was nice enough to sing for my sister and make her feel special. It saddens me to know that people seemingly have to be irate if they need to be noticed. When calling to ask if they delivered, the lady hung up on me. When going in for takeout, it took 3 people to take down an order of "A green wet burrito with a side of rice". I gave up after asking twice for chips and salsa. The very spicy burrito had 3 pieces of bone in it, and they forgot the side of rice... For 5 bucks it's pretty good, but spend the extra dollar and try your luck somewhere else. I will. read more

We really love this El Torito, the food here is always delicious and the staff are always friendly and attentive. Tonight we had Rito Valadez as our server and Martha Reed, they handle our party amazingly and made sure we all got our food in a timely manner and kept our drink full. Love the carnitas and cueritos! They show soccer games on 2 TVs. In my opinion it would be a better experience with servers instead of ordering at the register. Beer would also give it a boost in clientele and sales. Food needs to be a little hotter. read more

Great food for good prices. Had a wet a burrito with salsa Verde with Al Pastor. Good size and got me full for sure :) there were just some flies around where we were eating which made it kinda unpleasant to eat but it prob came in through the door when someone opened. I came here once, and I loved their barbacoa and their consome. They are so delicious. I also tried their picaditas, and they were yummy, I ordered mine extra crispy. The reason I gave them 2 stars, was because the lady that took my order was very rude. I believe she was the owner, but I'm not 100 percent sure. I use to confuse barbacoa, and birria, aswell as picaditas and sopes. So before ordering I asked her, which was which, so that I didn't order the wrong thing. She just gave me a dirty look followed by a rude response. I honestly wanted to just not order anything anymore, but unfortunately my family was really craving it, and I didn't want to get home empty handed. read more

A hidden gem! Kinda wanted to keep it that way but the service is good so I don't mind helping them out. They serve you chips and salsa smothered in their amazing refried beans!
