Macho Combo
Lisa Y.

I was surprised how packed this El Torito gets! There were lots of people waiting for a table when we came for dinner on a Friday night. Luckily I had made a reservation beforehand, but we still had to wait for a bit before we were seated. The restaurant is pretty sizable, so it can get a little loud if you're in the main dining room area. Our server brought us chips and salsa to snack on. The salsa is pretty good! (Plus, yay for refills!) We were able to place our order relatively quickly, but the food did take a while to come out. The Shrimp and Crab Enchiladas caught my eye. They come with two enchiladas made with corn tortillas filled with shrimp and crab. The sauce is a habanero pesto cream sauce. Rich and a little on the salty side. It's garnished with sour cream, radish, cotija cheese, and green onion. You also get rice and black beans on the side. Not bad, but I'm not sure that I would get this dish again. We also got a Macho Combo that include four of El Torito's most popular items on one platter. It comes with a fire-roasted pasilla chile relleno, a chicken and sour cream enchilada, a beef barbacoa crispy taco, and a hand-made chicken tamale. It's also served with refried beans and rice. I would say this combo is a pretty good deal! There's quite a lot of food! My favorites from the platter were the chicken and sour cream enchilada and the chicken tamale.

Guess whose back. Happy Hour is back. Its all week too, till 9:00pm. This is music to my ears. I am so happy they have it on weekends. El Torito offers one of the best happy hours. Both bartenders Alvaro and his crew are great. The lunch buffet is a great bang for the buck. They open at 11:00am. If you arrive early there is no wait. As it gets closer to noon, it gets busy. With Disney moving in a hop, skip and jump away I am sure its going to be more busy. Thanks for listening El Torito and bringing Happy Hour back.

We didn't have to wait for table, and we we had a view of the boats. I had a side of 4 taquitos. They were presented really cute. Service was excellent.

What a great value! The Weekday AYCE Lunch at El Torito... homemade street tacos with all the fixings... different salsa's, a beautiful salad bar, with make your own mini tostadas, chile verde, and colorado, and a great assortment of desserts, including my favorite flan... diffinitely the best flan around... $20 Monday to Friday 11am to 2pm... we came for Tuesday and left with something they do better... will be back soon. Oh yeah... Weekends are slammed and you need reservations... don't get me wrong... the weekend buffet here is A+... but weekdays no reservations needed... much more relaxed.

Wow, great and tasty food for 40$ This by far has been on of the best ones. I get reminded of a gigantic one from Las Vegas. I came with my father and we had an absolute great time. We kept saying how good the food tasted. The server was very attentive and the food was incoming never empty. Will definitely come back.

Oh my goodness! We were craving Mexican food, so we decided to stop by El Torito. What a chaotic experience it turned out to be! Our server was friendly, but he took our drink order and vanished for a whopping 20 minutes. When he finally returned, he brought our drinks but left our chips, salsa, and guacamole behind. After another 20 minutes, my husband suggested we move to the bar since we noticed people were getting their orders quicker. Finally, our server found us seated at the bar. After another 40 minutes of waiting, he apologized profusely and said, "Oh no, I forgot your chips! I'll be right back." Why bring them now after we've been waiting for so long? To make matters worse, we ordered the shrimp fajitas, and they were absolutely dreadful. The shrimp was slimy and tasteless, while the beans and rice were the only redeeming qualities. While they do have a great happy hour with excellent drinks, the service was atrocious. After spending $112.00, I wouldn't be returning to El Torito anytime soon.

Whenever I visit California, El Torito is an absolute must-visit. I always order the fajita salad, prepared table side with that incredible cilantro dressing -- my favorite. The salsa is delicious, with a slightly unique twist from what you typically find in Arizona Mexican restaurants, featuring roasted serrano peppers, jalapeños, fresh cilantro, garlic, lime juice, ground cumin, oregano, and salt. The flavors are fantastic, with just the right kick of spice. The restaurant's ambiance is always inviting and stylish, making the experience even better. I wish they were in Arizona..

The family and I had a wonderful brunch buffet experience thanks to our server CAROLINA! We ate our fill and the kiddos even got an ice cream surprise overall love this El Torito location over the others in the area.

We come to this location for brunch often, usually on Sundays. This was our first Saturday brunch. Julio, our server, was incredible--very understanding when my daughter didn't want anything from the Saturday brunch menu and kindly brought out a kids menu for her. The breakfast brunch is never disappointing. That said, the Saturday brunch does feel a bit more limited compared to their Sunday brunch offerings. The ambiance is always clean and welcoming!

How much is the all you can eat brunch?

40$

How much is all you can eat Sunday brunch now? It doesn't show on the website.

The Sunday brunch is 36$ per adult and 12& per child I don't know why they won't say the price online

Do they have happy hour?

Yes 3:00 to 9:00 daily and on drinks and appetizers.

Today for Mother's day the brunch cost $31 per person. I just asked my husband. May 9,2021. How come it differs? Is it because of Mother's Day?

I called them today and they said the price for brunch is now $31 so they may have just increased prices.

Are they doing the Sunday brunch on Valentine's Day to?

Yes

Will you guys be staying open or closing due to restaurants closing in LA?

They are open for indoor and outdoor dining as of today Feb 15 2021

4 star rating is for their 3-Roll Taco…read more This place has always been reliable for their carne asada, California Burrito, chicken chimichangas, and 3-rolled tacos. I've been coming here since it was originally named Alberto's...The outside seating has not changed. It's still the same round table bench with the red umbrella. Service is the same, they're pretty quick at getting your food prepped. Now I said that their carne asada has always been reliable, but my last two times I've ordered a carne asada burrito (sour cream and cheese only) or a CA burrito, IYKYK, their meat has tasted different. It taste like it's some carne asada and then like some other mystery meat, sometimes liver... Either way I stop eating it when I have tasted it being weird. Maybe it's the other meats they serve that get mixed in. I don't dig that. So for that I would rate them down to a 3 star. I'm rating their 3 rolled tacos as 4 stars! It's the best around. It has the crunch and enough meat inside. It's not all tortilla like some places. We always order it with sour cream and cheese only, with carrots on the side. I've tried adeltacos down the street and it doesn't compare. Get it here.

(not from scratch) i honestly like all of it. but... this is a 2-star restaurant. i can't tell you all the things i've encountered here over the past decades. edit: recent reviews say one-star, and service is mentioned. yes, good point: no offense, but the service at this place IS exceptionally bad. it's so weird that they are still in business. so... idk. it's kind of a three star, but demotion for all the random inedible debris I've found in my food over the years and another demotion for the bad service and another demotion for how often the food is cold and how often the burrito is built without balance with cheese and cream on one side. etc. this place is not for the weak in that regard. this is not for people who need customizations to their order. i go because i'm used to it, but don't take your friends and family unless they'd ride a mechanical bull in a junkyard.... affectionately.

Best Tortas in the Cypress/West GG area, hands down!…read more I was feeling for some good Mexican, and I remembered the good Birria we had here some time back. This time I went a different direction though and picked up one of their Torta options - the Cubana. Fresh homemade bread with all of the fixings one would expect in a Cuban inspired Torta - quite large as well! The fam got Super Burritos, some with chicken and one with Al pastor. They had nothing but good to say - my son noting that it was really fresh tasting. The service was friendly and knowledgable, and they had our somewhat large order out in really good time. While you wait there's some arcade machines set to free play, a salsa bar with plenty of options, including roasted jalapeños. The place is clean with plenty of seating, and if I wasn't in a rush I'd have probably eaten there nust to get a few more rounds of Marvel v Capcom 2 in. ;)

They tack on extra charges not listed on the menu. Ordered 3 tacos and paid $19 something (handed him $20 and got some coin change). I didn't want to argue further. I calculated it afterward and this was overpaying by $2 something. The amount is not a big deal, but I don't like being stolen from. So I'm writing this, so that others may avoid the same annoying experience. I was hoping the tacos would be really good and justifies it. But they weren't. The El Jefe one wasn't even as described. He said there would be cheese but there wasn't. The guac tasted old. And the whole plate was incredibly oily. The carnitas ones were less oily but not very flavorful either, and there were chunks of fat. Never again. Also the place was just gross. They used the same ladle for all the sauces, so it was all cross contaminated. The bathroom looked like a mess and had graffiti everywhere too.

Service: 1/5 The service wasn't the best but apparently our server was on break at the time we were seated. She didn't tell us that, nor did the person serving us, but we overheard her tell another table that was seated after us. She did come once to check up on us but unfortunately, it was too late and we were trying to forget the experience. During this time, there was a larger party of 6 that came in to dine and of course to accommodate, the workers arranged a table together; however, the way that this happened was that they were dragged the heavy tables and chairs together instead of picking them up. I'm not expecting no noise or for them to faintly put the table together, but if this is supposed to be a Michelin Guide restaurant and they want people to fully enjoy their experience, you wouldn't expect extremely loud screeching from the chairs and tables grabbed next to you. Food: 3/5 My mother got the spaghetti with added asada and it was good. My wife got the chilaquiles with tinga and it wasn't bad. The only thing that we wished was that there was more flavor to the tinga other than the salsa it was tossed in, but again, no real complaints. Come to my dish and the star of the show. They served candied pork belly with the rest of the dish in oil. The sides were tasty and flavorful but I wish it wasn't suiting in that oil. The pork belly had no chipotle flavor, and tasted just straight like agave glaze. In my opinion, it wasn't cooked that well either or maybe it was just how the dish was put together that accentuated the sweetness. The fat was rendered well but instead of the meat being crispy, it was burnt and dried out. This just soaked up all that sweetness and made the dish inedible. Since I had already shared the pork belly with my wife and mother, my wife ate the rest of my plate as it was fine like I mentioned, but I couldn't stand it anymore. Unfortunately, this didn't sit well in my body either as I ended up getting sick shortly after. I want to be fair. My instinct was to do a 1 star review but my family enjoyed their dishes and the restaurant vibes itself were very nice. Would I come back? Not if it were up to me but would I recommend it to others? Sure, but stay clear of that pork belly dish.

My co-worker ordered the two fried fish taco plate, also with rice and beans, which was a couple of bucks cheaper. My tacos were good except the salmon smelled a bit too fishy so I reckon they were not the freshest, but they were not bad. My co-worker really enjoyed her fried fish tacos so that is what I will order next time! You place your order at the counter and they give you a number and deliver to your table (if dining in). They also have a self serve salsa bar with all the fixins' (no chips though). I almost forgot to mention that I ordered a side of their brussel sprouts (7 bucks) to go & had them as a side for dinner at home. My former acquaintance always raved about them; however, although they were tasty, I didn't think they were as great as she made them out to be (different strokes for different folks). Aside from the food, the parking is extremely tight as this place is located in a very small strip mall so be prepared to wait for parking during peak times or find street parking nearby. Overall, what stopped me from rating this place a 5 out of 5 is my salmon being a little smelly as well as the prices are a tad high and the cramped parking but that won't deter me from patronizing this place again!
