First time I ever try Cali Fish Grill. was greeted right at the entrance by Lizette - she was very kind by breaking down the menu, and very patient helping me troubleshoot the POS at the front. Was craving some fish n chips and saw that they have some with shrimp as well. Surprised by the amount of advertised protein (50g+). The portion size for the price was decent, and I like that they gave me 2 sides of tartar sauce. The fries were a little bit on the lukewarm side, but I can look past that considering the rice was cooked perfectly. The fish is crispy on the outside, but so soft and flaky on the inside. Shrimp was properly breaded. The sodas they have were really good, I liked the berry açai one a lot. Will def come back. read more

No more fresh bar with sauces and condiments. I ordered the fish tacos and my mom ordered fish and chips. The batter was really weird and my fish was wayyy overcooked. Super stingy with the fish on my tacos, they took one piece and cut it in half. The soda machine wasn't well maintained, the bottom was filled with dirty water and a couple of the sodas were out. The California Fish Grill has been my go-to shrimp salad place in Cypress recently. Their food tastes always fresh and never makes me feel bloated or gross afterwards. I have not had a bad experience here and the service here it nice and friendly. Parking is right outside of the restaurant and plenty of seatings inside too. My favorite item here are the dynamite shrimp and the meditteranean shrimp salad. Both items have nice crunchy textures and flavors in every bite. I've been to this exact location at least 5 times and this time the size of the fish was ridiculously small. Compared to the fish and chips size, it looked like they cut in half one piece of fish for two tacos. It felt like I was eating the tortilla on its own. Very disappointing. read more

This is my second time coming here and I really do love the fish options they have! I ordered the catfish grilled and fried and both were soooo delicious! I love the side options they have for the plates, it's always hard to choose. They also have "stubborn soda", and they have the best flavors. Went in yesterday to have lunch with my accountant @meocainc, her office is near by on katella and she often invites me here. She has the cutest accent, akin to the lovely Sofia Vergara. I never turn an invite down with her, the food here is excellent. We took advantage of Taco Tuesday and ordered two shrimp tacos, two battered fish tacos, & the pineapple matcha house drink. Everything was filling & delicious. They have excellent green salsa, & Cajun butter as well. I highly reccomended coming here for a taco Tuesday and I believe if you download the app they offer a free protein bowl. This establishment is very spacious, I'm surprised it's not packed on a Taco Tuesday. We were the only people taking advantage of the outdoor seating. The breading on the fish is odd - not the usual crunchy, crispy batter that one would expect to be deep fried. While eating it made me wonder if the fish was deep fried and frozen beforehand. Didn't taste like they battered and fried at the restaurant from scratch. The service was really good though as the takeout staff was more than friendly. I used to come here all the time, but this visit was really disappointing. I received a text saying my order was ready, yet I still had to wait before it was actually ready. To make matters worse, I specifically requested my fish to be well done, but it was very undercooked (see photo). The service also wasn't very attentive, which made the experience even more frustrating. Unfortunately, what used to be my go-to location is now one I'll be avoiding. I hate to leave negative reviews but unfortunately I had a poor experience at this location when picking up my order. TLDR; poor customer service, waited 30 min in store for a pickup order while everyone else was served before me I placed an online order for pick up at 11:15 (the earliest time available since they open at 11). I arrived at 10:55 and the doors were open so I walked in and let the worker know I had an online order. They said that they wouldn't receive the online orders until 11, so I said no problem and grabbed a seat. While I was sitting the workers walked past me several times as they were setting up so they definitely knew that I was waiting there. There was a rush of customers after 11, so I didn't want to bother the employees (since they knew that I had been sitting there since before they opened). I sat and waited for my food. At 11:15, my order was not ready. Meanwhile the kitchen was pumping out orders for dine-in customers, catering orders, and online orders for customers who arrived after me. At 11:25 I finally went up and asked the worker if my food would come out soon. They said it was almost ready and to wait a bit longer. Then the worker actually continued to serve another customer with an online order first- this customer even noticed me waiting for a long time and told the worker "actually she was waiting here before me". The worker didn't seem to care and gave that customer his food and ignored me completely. I received my food at 11:30 and the worker said sorry for the wait. I said ok but I just want to let you know the situation from my perspective and that I'm disappointed in the customer service. The worker said they were busy, etc. then repeatedly said to me "what would you like me to do about it". I told her I didn't want her to do anything and that I was just expressing my disappointment. The conversation became heated and the worker got quite hostile and was not apologetic at all in her tone. Overall I'm giving two stars rather than one because the food was fine and the manager I spoke to was apologetic. However I will not return to this location and I cannot recommend it for others (especially not pickup orders). Looking at past reviews it looks like another customer had the same experience as me just one month ago which seems alarming. I hope the workers can have better training on how to treat customers who are sitting directly in front of them for 30 min. read more

In comparison, CA Fish Grill wins for both taste and value. The key to CA Fish Grille is to take them up on their lunch specials and Taco Tuesdays. We really like California fish grill, and the food here was just as good as it always is. In fact, the tomatoes and feta was even better than usual--the tomatoes were perfect! It was a little later in the evening, about 8:30, so when we came in there were several tables that had not been bussed and some stuff on the floor, so it was a bit of a mess. It's changed over time, no more salsa bar, and you're grabbing your own food, but the quality of the fish is still good for the price. The service was good, and they still have salsa in cups if you ask, so that's fine enough I suppose. The ambiance is still what I remember, a busy yet well tended and clean indoor seating area and a chill outside area. While the staff here seems super friendly and nice every time I come here or order from here, I believe overall Company policy or quality customer experience brings the rating down. While the costs get higher, the convenience gets lower. You cannot make any special requests or notes when ordering from any online platform...... They fail to ever provide enough sauce, even when you buy it, they forget to put it in. The plates used to get more for the value, now its becoming not worth it. Today I ordered the Wasabi Salmon Bowl.......this should be name changed to Rice with slightly salmon bowl with a hint of Wasabi. There is way too much rice in this bowl. Like 2.5-3 cups it seemed like. All the other mentioned ingredients ,including any sauces are non existent. Salmon???? Where? They dont put two filets or even on filet and let you shred with your fork. Nope. You have to go hunt for salmon bits in this bowl. As for Wasabi, maybe a slight hint but since the Wasabi peas were almost non existent, as were the sauces, you can hardly taste it. This was a real expensive disappointment for what I got. I paid $30 for a bowl of rice when all was said ans done. Never again! Stay away from their new bowls. Most reviews ive read say the same thing about portion size and value or quality! California fish grill....customer experience is everything. Think of yourself as the customer. We don't want to complain or go back or figure out how to add notes to get the order the way we like it. You are a profitable company, no need to keep skimping while increasing the cost. I really want for my experiences to get better here, hut the last 3x here whether in person or via a delivery platform is just a complete miss! Provide utensils, provide the sauce choices people choose and dont undercut your customers! As for employees attitude or behavior, ive NEVER had a bad customer service or employee experience here! This place used to rock and I loved it a lot but their recent expansion plans haven't helped them. The chicken tenders were so small for the price I paid. The lobster menu is absolutely not worth it at all. Good yes but for the price no. Portions have gotten smaller and they even took away the bread they used to give. On the bright side, every location now has taco tuesday and before only this one did. Their battered fish tastes like nothing. Updating my review because the service seems to have gone down hill. I have the bad habit of not checking my order before I take it home. I have been sick but craving the grilled chicken and zucchini with garlic butter sauce. I almost ordered for delivery but it would cost an arm and a leg so I opted for pickup. It was around 4pm and pretty slow inside except for some drivers picking up deliveries. The lady working the pick up counter seemed kind of rude. Annoyed with the drivers. When it was my turn to give my name, I didn't want to add to her annoyance so I grabbed my bag and left. I knew that was a sign that I should have checked my order. Sure enough, I get home to my order of chicken rice and zucchini. Only to discover no zucchini. The best part of the order. Feeling too sick to leave the house again . I'll just cut my losses and not give my business here anymore. Every time I place this same order, they always seem to run out of zucchini because I never get it!
