I'm still keeping the rating at 3 stars, but I really don't have much hope left for a positive outlook of Rubio's near-term future, especially considering they had to file for bankruptcy twice in a span of four years. Rubio's was a favorite of mine in Lakewood before their untimely closure 2 years ago, which I can never understand corporate's decision to do so as their definition of underperforming clearly differs from mine. I came again this year for National Fish Taco Day, where Rubio's was offering their Original Fish Tacos, normally $4.99, for just 99 cents, so definitely a steal of a deal in this economic era. This time, it was a limit of two per rewards member, and a purchase had to be made to qualify for the $8 off with purchase of two fish tacos. I intended for the fish tacos to be a mid-afternoon snack, so I wasn't looking for a full meal. So instead of ordering a side or some other taco to go with my two Original Fish Tacos, I decided a small cup of avocado crema would do the trick. At only a half dollar, it was enough to bring my grand total to less than $3. How about that for savings?! But as impressive as these savings were, the fish tacos were not. I guess I really did get what I paid for here. In my online order, I requested extra salsa, cabbage, and lime crema, all of which would not incur an additional charge. I also asked to swap out the corn tortilla for a flour tortilla. They got the tortilla part right at least, but it felt like they went the opposite way for the extras. Like I didn't get nearly as much salsa, cabbage, and lime crema as I wanted, and I had to use the entire cup of avocado crema to give the fish tacos the flavor I desired. I was hoping to use the avocado crema sauce for my eventual dinner that night, but that unfortunately was not the case. And the fish itself felt so much smaller than before! I remember they'd use a big piece of Wild Alaska Pollock for their tacos, but this time, it felt miniscule! And that was for *both* tacos! At least they gave me a fork so I could keep my hands clean for the most part, but that fork would have been much more useful had I actually gotten extra of the extras that I asked for. Luckily, the tacos themselves tasted good that I'm not downgrading my rating to two stars. However, I can't imagine paying $10 for those two tacos again, especially if I have to drive much further to do so. Taco Nazo is much closer, and their fish tacos are indubitably superior while being 50 cents cheaper! Unless Rubio's decides to give out free fish tacos sometime later this year, I do not plan on trying another Rubio's fish taco until, at the earliest, next year's National Fish Taco Day. And even so, no guarantee I'd return to this location for that. I had gone on Saturday, but the promo would have worked the following day as well. I had other plans that following day, and I have no regrets on missing out on another pair of Rubio's fish tacos. Things are looking bleak for Rubio's now. They share a parking lot with Del Taco, and even though Del Taco is a dime a dozen, I think that Del Taco would be a better choice for tacos than this Rubio's.

I've been to many other Rubio locations, and I'm sad that many have closed; fortunately, a couple are still close to me. I enjoy the food here, from tacos and burritos to the limited-time seasonal items. They've been consistent through the years, and this location has been my local spot lately. My go-to items are the original fish tacos, the grilled mahi-mahi, the grilled shrimp, and the salmon. The burritos are great, too, with unique ingredients that work well together. They also give chips with the burrito orders. Don't sleep on the chicken and steak options, either. During Fall/Winter, they have langostino lobster tacos and burritos, but I wish they could add a few more pieces of the langostino. It's still, however, one of my favorite seasonal items. The self-serve salsa bar has some tasty sauces, and when I want more heat, I grab the Diablo sauce bottle. So good! Beer, wine, and sangria are available, along with fountain and canned/bottled drinks! This location has a clean, spacious dining area with both indoor and outdoor seating. I've also been using the mobile app for discounts, rewards, and easy ordering. It helps when on the go! The prices have been increasing, but are still reasonable, and the food quality and service are consistent.

Better than I remembered. In the 2000s, I generally preferred Baja Fresh or El Pollo Loco, but I came back with a giftcard and was pleased. Many choices; good chips and salsas. My boyfriend enjoyed the fried fish burrito, and I enjoyed the California burrito (of course, nothing can compare to getting one in SD). Friendly staff, enough parking in this plaza with Daiso as well. Clean and colorful restaurant. Overall, not bad.

I've been patronizing this location of Rubios for at least 5-7 years. Customer service is great, salsa bar is great, mango iced tea is great. Cleanliness of the restaurant is great. However, the value for the price? Not bad on Tues.....but it seems there may be extra batter on those fish tacos... Anyway had an original fish burrito yesterday $12.99 + mango iced tea.... $18 The size of the fish burrito was ridiculous (small) and adding tortilla chips to the plate makes ZERO difference. What a rip. There are much better places to get a fish burrito where u can actually see/find the fish in the burrito....again....NOT A GOOD VALUE BY ANY MEASURE

I ordered the impossible protein burrito especial to go. The order came out in a bag picked it up and drive off. Come to find that the impossible protein burrito especial was not especial at all. I did not see any protein just a lot of rice and black beans. No wonder a lot of Rubio's are being closed right now. This restaurant was my go to for quick meals, but I guess it's not anymore. I hope management check this out and do some corrections..

It was my first day of work as I am new to the area and was indecisive as to what to eat for lunch. I had not been to a Rubio's in over 7 years when I last worked in Santa Ana and was within walking distance of one so I decided to give it a try. One cashier was on duty as they have two kiosks to place your order on. I was trying to add beans and rice via the kiosk as they had an add on via their menu board; however, you can only order that via the cashier. I ordered the trio fish tacos with the beans and rice. They were tasty but pretty pricey for street tacos at 13.99 not including the beans and the rice. Dining area was very clean and a decent size. read more

Service is usually okay here but today was bad enough for me to write this review. First, I tried to order at the register and the lady who is usually working there (I assume she is the manager or shift leader) took a long time to figure out the ordering system since "they got a new system" installed, which is understandable. However, right before she was suppose to give me my fountain drink and number for some reason she decides to help someone else who was also complaining about something with online ordering. I mean, isn't it common sense to finish my transaction first before you move on to the next person? I finally get my cup and number after having to ask some other worker for help. Then when the food arrives the same lady forgets the beans that come with the combo I ordered. The food is good here however. Would definitely recommend the shrimp and bacon burrito and fish tacos. Would Just recommend some customer service training. read more

Val is very nice and sweet she deserves a raise and maybe even a promotion. I mistook her for the manager who herself is just ok in my experience. Food and portions here are consistently good. Restroom needs to be cleaned more often. Other than that this is a location that all Rubio's should strive to be like. read more

ordered fish & chips and the fish sliders. Very disappointing. The sliders should be $2.50 not $4.99 IMO. Worst fish and chips ever, it was mostly batter and oil. Fries were ok but soggy. Now i remember why i stopped frequenting rubios many years ago. Quality is definitely missing and is overpriced for what you get. i don't see myself returning. read more

Located in the Anaheim Plaza Shopping Center. The location is well maintained and the staff continue to walk the floor to restock items that look low. They offer a daily special on entree items between $7.99-$9.99 ( tacos, wraps, burritos, salads). I always like their fish tacos and their Nachos. The salsa bar is unlimited so it's a great way of trying out different salsas. The drink station is located towards the back area. Bottle drinks are located by the register. Overall great service + ample area to sit. read more

I love that this place feels so comforting. I have been coming here for many, many years. The food is consistently GOOD. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant is always clean and organized. We were overcharged by elizabeth on 7/17 . At first the total sounded like a lot and we trusted her until we got home and realized we were over charged. Be careful with these employees they act so confident like they know what they are doing but they really dont. Also the manager or girl that was doing random things in the register was rude and unhelpful when i was ordering something else . Its no wonder employee are the way they are they have a bad example. read more

I came here to order for someone else my first time ever being at a rubios and i was struggling to order and the person taking my order was so impatient and she was rude taping her screen as in a " hurry up and order" I didn't catch her name but she was blonde tall w heavy makeup and it's not like it was even busy it was so empty the only person there eating was a worker. read more

App fraud and General Manager is rude and unresponsive. The store employee told me this has been happening for over a year and one of the fraud people order $3000 worth of food to the same address on multiple orders and Manager is doing NOTHING. I deleted my app and removed my cards from the app after my fraud. The Manager said he District Manage is out sick and will not call me back.... shame!!! read more

I'm guessing the lobster burrito is out of season, because I went in looking for it and they didn't have it :( So the two-taco plate Friday special has become my go-to order. It tastes great, although there is absolutely no care taken to prep. Even when I gently take the box to my table, it looks like someone just threw the ingredients in the box...like a deconstructed taco... XD It's kinda hilarious how I have to reassemble my tacos and put all of the innerds back into it when I open the box. Good flavor, but it would be greay if all of the flavors could remain inside of the tacos LOL. read more

I've been a regular at this Rubio's for the last two years and I love the quality and variety of their food. Their tacos are packed with flavor and it's a healthy alternative to most fast food spots. My wife and I have recently been enjoying the Mexican street corn chicken burrito which is super flavorful and good value for your money. I have food restrictions, vegan by choice and gluten free because I have to be. So food can get complicated. I ordered a cilantro lime bowl extra veggies instead of animal protein and hold the black beans. No problem not overly difficult, I'm so glad I checked before I left. They had added black beans on accident. They remade the order and a bit later it's ready. This whole Covid has really messed with my taste buds. I've been craving fish tacos. Do I even like fish tacos? Ask me a month ago and I would of stuck out my tongue with a huge NO Way! I've been here a few times for their street tacos. Minus the guacamole which is another thing I decided to eat during Quarantine and liked it. Their burritos are good according to the Mister. Chicken quesadillas are also good. The real winner are those Fish Tacos with extra salsa! They are so flippin delicious. Their old salsa bar was great but no longer open, thanks COVID. Why such a low rating on this place? I have visited about 5 times now and every single items were great! Love the salsa bar, taco Tuesdays is amazing deal IMO. Burritos were on point. I have been coming to this location for years and it has always been good. I'm not sure why there are some bad reviews. They always have special items which are salmon or shrimp. The quality of the food is good. The staff is nice. The prices are reasonable. You can eat outside and relax and they will bring the food to you. This place is vastly underrated. read more

I'm very disappointed in their lobster burrito. Do not waste your money it's a huge rip-off. You won't get any lobster, maybe 1 or 2 bite, but mostly, it's filled with rice and beans. I called to complain, but no help offered to make it right. I will never return to Rubios. read more

I know it's a holiday and all but you guys weren't busy today. Why I say that, well because my delivery time was 605 pm. my food was delivered at 550and I ordered at 530. Do you how much fun it is to eat chips with no salsa? I even included in the special instructions a request for salsa. We got a Lotta chips, but no salsa for dipping and while I am on a roll We weren't given any utensils to eat with and the fish tacos were overdressed with sauce to where the tortilla was falling apart and very soggy when you pay $40 for a meal you don't expect things like this, especially when you're not busy like today! A true fusion of incredible flavors I'm obsessed with and even more so because they can make any dish vegan or vegetarian! Their Spring Rolls are light, crispy and savory. Enjoy noodles dishes, rice dishes, curries, soups, sides and even sweets. Not to mention their Special of the Month. Service is super friendly, thoughtful and helpful. I enjoyed a vegan version of the TomYum Noddles with Tofu and went for the brave choice of #5 hot, it was SO delicious and the heat is real!!! Definitely would do it again, but maybe trying level #3 on the medium side. Great to dine in with plenty of tables and chairs directly in front or anywhere in Rodeo 39. Orders typically ready in 10 minutes or so, they tend to but them to the side for pick up and keep everything organized fairly well. Cute bottled bear beverages of all sorts as well as the classics, water, soda, teas, and frescas. Even Labubu is a fan!

But didn't take long for them to prepare a fresh plate. Maybe 10 minutes. The service was friendly and we even got some wonton sabao bowls as well. Food: the food hit the spot for my craving. My wife also enjoyed the meal as well! Portion size was good for the price with over 2 and a half cups of rice per serving from my estimate and ample meat for each dish as well. We definitely will come back and try some other dishes like pork sisig etc. They also have a section for food that's already prepared, though we didn't partake in those. Overall 4.5, only negative was the order from Grubhub was not ready as quoted.

We also ordered the fried crab egg roll, it was delicious and you can tell they use fresh, real crab meat, not fake stuff. The menu is really small, probably only 12 items including drink options, that should tell you everything you need to know, the stuff on the small menu is all they do really well! I would highly recommend this place to friends and family. After the great amazing food we had, I waddled back to my car and the young man that worked there ran out of the restaurant after me, to tell me I forgot my cell phone. Not only food here is good, service was great, but best of all caring and honesty makes this little gem of a restaurant my go to spot!

I came to this place for lunch and ordered a Lobster Burrito, to go. I opened it to put the hot sauce on it and it was full of mushy slimy rice soaked in fishy lobster juice, no meat. I got a $10 shafting by this place. I threw the food in the trash, never to return to this place. Profit Maximus & bad management no QC. a new found favorite. very friendly and helpful. you can't beat the price. our baby has come with us a few times, with no problems. love the chicken street tacos. our last time there, i forgot to order a drink--remembered after i sat down. i went back to go pay for a drink and the employee let me have the cup for free. p.s. their guacamole is awesome--usually i'm pretty picky and end up making my own at home. read more

This is our favorite local Mexican restaurant. I used to think SuperMex was good, but this blows that out of the water. Friendly and extremely helpful staff. Every time I go, I get something different. The guacamole is to die for. Love the street tacos, chicken tacos, etc. I don't think I've been disappointed in any of my choices. read more
