Best Tortas in the Cypress/West GG area, hands down! I was feeling for some good Mexican, and I remembered the good Birria we had here some time back. This time I went a different direction though and picked up one of their Torta options - the Cubana. Fresh homemade bread with all of the fixings one would expect in a Cuban inspired Torta - quite large as well! The fam got Super Burritos, some with chicken and one with Al pastor. They had nothing but good to say - my son noting that it was really fresh tasting. The service was friendly and knowledgable, and they had our somewhat large order out in really good time. While you wait there's some arcade machines set to free play, a salsa bar with plenty of options, including roasted jalapeños. The place is clean with plenty of seating, and if I wasn't in a rush I'd have probably eaten there nust to get a few more rounds of Marvel v Capcom 2 in. ;) read more

I haven't written a review in a long time. But I just need to write this one. Dishonest, shoddy business that doesn't respect its customers. They tack on extra charges not listed on the menu. Ordered 3 tacos and paid $19 something (handed him $20 and got some coin change). It was 2 carnitas tacos (listed for ~$4.40 each), plus an El Jefe taco (~$6.75). When he said $19 something it sounded high, I questioned it and he said that's what it is. I didn't want to argue further. I calculated it afterward and this was overpaying by $2 something. The amount is not a big deal, but I don't like being stolen from. So I'm writing this, so that others may avoid the same annoying experience. I was hoping the tacos would be really good and justifies it. But they weren't. The El Jefe one wasn't even as described. He said there would be cheese but there wasn't. The guac tasted old. And the whole plate was incredibly oily. The carnitas ones were less oily but not very flavorful either, and there were chunks of fat. Never again. Also the place was just gross. This review could've easily been a four or five star however they are a little stingy with their salsa even though there is a salsa bar. I ordered six tacos and I got two salsa cups with my to go order and I asked for more because they only give mild salsa for your to go order but what if I wanted the extra spicy salsa??? their tacos are really good and their prices are definitely reasonable and I would say it is probably one of my top taco spots to go to, but considering that they can't even give salsa is making me not want to come back. It was packed so ordering was rushed and didn't really notice much as we were consumed with finding a seat to enjoy our food. Food and service were decent. However our 2nd vist on a Sat afternoon was much more relaxed. Had time to review the menu and sit to enjoy our food in a much more relaxed atmosphere. Service was good, cashier was great, food arrived quickly and was fresh, salsa was good. Love the grilled onions and jalapeños. Here's where it went bad. The TV was on and didn't really notice until started hearing things that seemed controversial, so I started paying attention and it didn't take long to see they had it on a Ted Nugent talk show with commercials showing that the Charlie Kirk show was coming next. I was immediately disheartened to know that this local business, was displaying such offensive programming. Considering how the immigrant community is being targeted in this Country, that a place that serves food of another country would have this type of content on the TV. The salsa bar needs some serious help. They served old onions mixed in with some cilantro. The cilantro should be served separately from the onion for people that don't like cilantro. The quality of the meat is my biggest complaint. Chewy and lots of fatty pieces in my tacos. The tortillas were smothered in Greece. Came here around night time and it was a quick eat and go type of thing. Food was great! I got to try out lengua and carne asada. The lengua was so delicious, it was tender and tasted like made fresh!! For the carne asada, one thing about me is I do not like dry food so this did not let me down!! It was flavorful and meaty. They gave plenty of meat so it was a good amount. They also have a stand for all the sauce and onion cilantro. I noticed they offered grilled jalapeño so that was different. One thing I LOVE though, is that they marked the spicy level of each sauce which for a person who can't eat spicy stuff, IT WAS VERY NICE. Their mild sauce wasn't spicy at all and very flavorful. First time I came here was pretty bomb but the second time a month ago i braught my mom cause it was so good smh but it was pretty bad their was knats flying around like a lot when we tried to stay and eat. I was looking for another spot for my occasional 'Taco Tuesday' craving and decided to give El Jeve a try. The tacos were $1.59 on Tues but only a few types of tacos had the deal. I ended up getting the carne asada and Al pastor tacos. Both meats had good flavors on their own but I do tend to add a lot of toppings if I could. They do pack a decent amount of meat in each taco. The salsa bar is excellent as there are several kinds of salsa to choose from along with chopped onions n cilantro, lemon wedges, pickled carrots, pickled onions, sliced cucumbers, sliced radishes, etc. There were many people on the couple Tuesdays I went so there will be a wait. We decided to try this place based on a recommendation we found on Instagram, and it did not disappoint! I ordered three Keto tacos: one fish, one carnitas, and one lengua. Each one was absolutely delicious--huge, filling, and bursting with flavor! I left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied. I also paired my tacos with two spicy salsas: one orange and one red, both of which added an amazing kick. The Keto option was perfect for me as I'm working on my weight loss journey. My partner enjoyed four tacos, all served on regular tortillas. He went for one fish, one El Jefe, one OMG taco, and one Gobernador, and he was just as full as I was! He paired his tacos with two different green salsas, both spicy and mild, which he loved. My son savored his two asada tacos and cleaned his plate completely--he definitely enjoyed his meal! We left happy & full. 1/24: Second visit- ordered Wet asada burrito-huge and yummy. 3 asada street tacos-yummy & VERY generous with asada. Since it was Sunday, they had Menudo. LOTS of tripe, NO homeny, good flavor, side of 5 tortillas & for $14, a real bargain. Ok, miss piggy specifically asked the guy how large was the serving. The staff here are friendly and nice and they greet you when you come in and the overall atmosphere gives off a mom and pop restaurant vibe with a bright and colorful decor. There's a salsa bar on the side next to the tables that you can get your onions, cilantro, and pickled veggies. We ordered a plethora of tacos which included beef tacos dorado, quesa tacos, & taco el jefe and all of them were delicious! The beef was so tender and flavorful and not dry at all. The salsas had a good quick to them and complimented the meat well. I tried my friend's goat birria taco and that was some of the best goat meat I've ever had at a taco shop! The taco jefe was absolutely delicious with the shrimp having a great seasoning and spice and working well with the beef. All the tortillas were fresh and soft and they fill up your tacos with meat! My only criticism is that prices are not shown on the menu when you order and you don't know the price per taco until you get the bill and our total was around $70 with 3 mexican cokes which I thought was a bit high for the amount of food we ordered. The service here was great though and I liked how the staff answered any questions we had and we had no issues whatsoever.
