We've been here before and always enjoyed the yaki soba and a few rolls. This time, however, the yaki soba was over-seasoned and had an odd taste. We let our server know, and she was kind and understanding, but after speaking with the manager, we were told that's just how they make it and nothing could be done. We had a party of 9 you would think the service would be great. We didn't see our server at the beginning and the end. She didn't not come by and refill our drinks she was nowhere to be seen. It took about 20 mins to pay and realized the tip was included. So if you're going in large parties just be prepared for lousy service. Came here to celebrate birthday with a group of 5 @ 5:30pm on Saturday. The restaurant was not busy. The dinning room is pleasant to look at but the table had hardened gunk on it. Waiter didn't check in on the table very often and didn't refill drinks. Hot food for 2 out 5 people came out 10 minutes before the cold sashimi meals came. The white fish was fried skin, little to no meat. The waiter said he would advise management and left. When the waiter returned, no mention that 1/3 of the meal was fish skin, he just dropped the check like everything was fine. Came here with friends on a whim but I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was! I got the Mexican Roll, Mango Margaritas, and we got aguachiles verdes and gyoza for the table. All tasted great. Very nice interior and the service was great. Bit of a wait for the sushi, but it happens. Prices weren't bad either. Lots of variety on the menu if you want Mexican sushi, regular sushi, ramen or classic entrees like teriyaki. All super good and not bad prices. Definitely recommend. read more

Dined at El Tataki the first time at lunch. The atmosphere was very nice. Staff was friendly and service was good and food was good but a bit pricey compared to other sushi places. The menu has a huge selection of very interesting, delicious looking items. I decided to order the Shrimp Killer Roll. It was very good. However, it didn't come out as exactly described on menu. The menu said it was topped with eel sauce. However, Eel sauce was on bottom instead of top. The ingredients were fresh and good. I really enjoyed the dipping sauce that came on the side. I also ordered Eel Nigiri. 3 pieces came to an order. The price of the eel nigiri was actually very reasonable and cheaper than most sushi places in my opinion. Overall, good experience. I would really give this place a 3.5. It is beautiful on the inside. I went here on New Year's Day, which was a Monday around noon so of course it was dead but started to pick up when we were getting ready to leave. We ordered a strawberry mango margarita, Paloma, gyoza, edamame w/garlic, suicide roll, carne asada roll, le cordon bleu roll, and tilapia tacos. Good: margarita, Paloma, gyoza, suicide roll, and carne asada roll. Needs improvement: service (will detail this later), edamame w/garlic, and le cordon bleu roll. Service: The food and drinks took a long time to come out although we were the only ones in the restaurant. My friend let the waiter know the le cordon bleu roll tasted a little fishy like it was fried in the same oil as the rolls that have fish in them. He responded by saying none of the rolls with fish in them are fried so that was "impossible." I told him the Vegas roll has salmon in it and is fried. He told me I was right and said he'd have to talk to the manager, we let him know it was fine, it was just feedback and people who may not want a fishy roll are probably ordering the rolls without fish for that reason but it doesn't help if the roll is still going to taste like fish. Le cordon blue roll: tasted of fish, was really oily compared to the other roll, bacon was chewy (maybe sprinkle the bacon on top rather than putting inside the roll?). Edamame w/garlic: kinda flavorless, I thought it would be cooked in a garlic sauce or something but it's literally just steamed the tossed in minced garlic so not a super strong garlic flavor. If you're charging extra for garlic, it should be a little more than what was given. Nice place, just a little room for growth! read more

We've been to El tataki twice nice. We were very excited and waited patiently for them to open! To start their menu is enormous and the sushi rolls are quite large which is nice not like some place who give you four to six pieces. Don't ask me the names of the sushi we have had but they were all pretty good I can't say anything negative about the food. Only thing is they never bring out ginger and wasabi you always have to ask. Also I gave it four stars because the service is slow and takes forever to get food out, and average sushi price per roll is 13-20$. Ambiance is nice the place is very nicely decorated and clean. The gyoza and calamari appetizers were perfectly crunchy and tasty. The crunchy, dinamita and carne asada rolls were even more delicious, and presentation was great. Hubby's sashimi was fresh and DIL's chicken teriyaki was "the best she's ever had in AZ" and she's very picky with her food! We started with some gyoza and a basket of fries which came out super fast. But we ended up waiting almost 45 minutes to receive our rolls. The waiter did not stop by to check on us after putting in our order for the sushi rolls. It almost seemed as if he was ignoring us because he knew it was taking a long time. We're both starving and had been craving sushi for a long time. We were excited to try this sushi fusion restaurant but as soon as we took our first bite knew that this is not somewhere we would likely return. We ordered the fiesta roll and Japan roll. Both lacked flavor and the rice seemed soggy and not sticky. Maybe the reason they tasted bad was because they were sitting for a long time?
