The food was good. I was happy to get pupusas in New Braunfels. The horchata was not my favorite but I know horchata can be made differently by many so I don't fault that. However- the service. Dear God. I don't know if she was having a bad day or what, because I really do give people the benefit of the doubt, but it took a few tries to get our order down right, and a few reminders for other things. Never got more water so just had to deal with thirst and things, but luckily the food was good enough I'll give it another try. Covid has strained small business and maybe this was not a regular server. Either way the food was good, I'll be back! read more

El Tamarindo - Pupusas revueltas. Ask for the salsa and curtido. - Mexican Near Me - New Braunfels, Texas

I came here with friends and ordered the 3 beef chalupas which comes with guacamole, rice, and beans. I also ordered 1 queso papusa because they were out of loroco. This comes with pickled veggies and a red tomato salsa. They also bring out chips and salsa in the beginning for free. The food was okay, it needs more flavor. The papusa was bland but the texture was nice. The beef in the chalupa was good, the rest of it was okay. The salsa that came with chips and salsa was the best thing there. I would however, warn you that they overcharge you and they don't speak English. The papusa is 2.59 and they charged me 2.99. Also they charged me 6.99 for the chalupas when they only gave me two and it should have been 5.29. Very unfortunate that they do this to customers. Cheating is not nice. read more

El Tamarindo - a receipt for a restaurant - Mexican Near Me - New Braunfels, Texas

Salvadoran in New Braunfels?! Yes!!! Puppusas here are delicious as well as the enchiladas! Definitely worth the visit!

El Tamarindo is a cute hidden gem in New Braunfels! I had no clue of it's existence until my uncle told us about it! He goes almost everyday which says a lot because he's a hard man to please. We had such a pleasant experience and understand why it came highly recommended. The breakfast tacos were huge and my coffee cup was never empty. The waitress was incredibly attentive and seemed to know everyone in the restaurant by their names. Ahhh....mid-breakfast my uncle walks in! We got a good laugh at this because he chose not to sit with us but a table away LOL! He sure did go to town on a pancake! Great place if your looking to get away from all the packed breakfast spots in NB and get some good quality food! read more

FINALLY!! A GREAT TACO PLACE ALL AROUND! Hands down best service and tortillas in town. They have good prices and good food. I like to get the breakfast tacos every time, the workers know my usual order by now lol (: I heard the owner is the brother of the guy who runs el napolito, I used to go there but I must say his brother is doing everything just right and consistent. read more

I came with my dad about two weeks ago on a Wednesday. It was about noon and we only saw one customer in the whole place but never an employee. We sat there for about 10 minutes and never saw a a waitress or anybody who appeared to work there. So we took our money to another Mexican restaurant nearby. No wonder there was nobody in there, with non existent customer service like that. read more

Visiting from Ft Worth. Made a wrong turn and found this place in early afternoon The place we a small hole in the wall but looks ARE deceiving! We had a party of 5. We ate mostly breakfast for lunch and it was off the charts! The freshest and best tasting corn tortillas I have had in my life. Everything was fresh, fast and filling and a GREAT price. We will be back. It is a great place for fresh food. Wait staff was nice and did a great job helping us order. They were patient with our Spanish (we suck) but we were all able to get the message across and everything was perfect. Don't miss an opportunity to eat here! read more

Review for breakfast tacos only. Called in my order and it was ready in just a few minutes. The flour tortillas are fluffy, with a great chewy texture that have got to be made in house. The salsa is bright, not too spicy and both my wife and youngest loved it. The bacon, potato, egg and cheese were wolfed down by the kids and looking around for more. The chorizo was not aggressively seasoned but the eggs and cheese made for a nice balance. The breakfast sausage was slightly spicy. The cheese isn't goopy or hard but blends in with the tacos. I'd go back for the lengua and pastor. read more

El Tamarindo - Menu - Mexican Near Me - New Braunfels, Texas

About as authentic as you can get. This is a small business / family restaurant and what it lacks in atmosphere it more than makes up for in taste, service and friendliness. I've probably eaten here once or twice a weekend every week for the past year and I'm happy to report no matter what I order it's always good. Recommendations ... The carne Guisada is always good as is the Migas plate. Give em a chance ... You'll be glad you did. read more

Horrible service! Horrible food! It took 3 different servers to take our order. ‍ were even fluent in Spanish so there was no language barrier! Taco cabana tastes better and that's horrible fast food! Don't waste your time or money read more

El Tamarindo - Caldo de Beef...amazing!! - Mexican Near Me - New Braunfels, Texas

If you're looking for fresh food served in large portions that is served quickly and at a low price this may be the place for you. Recently I made my fourth visit and I was not disappointed. The daily specials, posted on the white board, include your drink of choice. You'll do a double take when you see the price. This clean little "hole-in-the-wall" is my top pick for tasty down home authentic Tex-Mex. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

We drive down from Plano all the time and this is the place to have menudo and the thick corn tortillas. Always great!

I take pride in sampling as much local Mexican fare as possible. This responsibility to my community is an honor. Today's honor was sampling El Tamarindo. Fresh tortillas (corn and flour), quick service, and quality ingredients will ensure my return. Give it a shot next time you have the hankering! read more

I love that the tamarindo offers something different from other restaurants in town however I only come here for the pupusas. They are great and I'm so happy they are staying In New Braunfels. If you have not tried pupusas before you need to! read more

This used to be my favorite breakfast spot in town until today. My wife and I had not been here for awhile, and when we stepped in we noticed all new staff. It made us wonder if it was under new ownership? We placed our order and my migas plate came out looking and tasting as good as I remembered it, however, my wife asked me to smell her beef enchalada, which I did. I almost gagged on the smell! The beef was obviously rancid! I don't know how the cooks could not know the beef was rotten, but they were serving it. When we told the waitress, she smelled it and shook her head yes, asked if we wanted another, of course we refused and she took it away. No one came back to our table after that, so I went up to pay. The 2 staff at the counter had a discussion in spanish, but never acknowledged the rotten beef or apologized for it. The charged me $17 for a migas plate and lunch plate of 1 taco and 1 enchalada with 2 unsweet teas. I will never eat there again. read more

Homemade tortillas were so good! Also loved the carne guisada, language, nopales, potato and egg, and chorizo. So... basically everything! Very kind staff too!! read more

It was mediocre at best. There is a huge communication barrier with the waitstaff. The place is really small, ordered chicken fajitas and they cubed the meat into small pieces and piled the plate high with onions and peppers, had to really dig through the plate to find the meat and the meat was really small. Red sauce was probably from a can, the chips were thick and stale. Not impressed. read more

This little restaurant has the best migas!!!!! The food is good . The price is awesome lol the services are not bad. All over all, I love this little restaurant. read more

Texans are as picky about their Mexican Food as they are about their BBQ! One person's "best" is another's "you've got to be kidding!". Well, I guess that could be said of a lot of things, right? A friend of mine - who is never wrong about food - took me here a few years ago. Folks, this place is just damn good, period. Best refried beans I've ever had. I haven't had anything "bad". Mi favorita is the migas taco on homemade corn tortillia! Enchiladas are very good, as well as all the soups. Oh, and if you're in the mood for breakfast, try the omelet...WOW! Lunch specials include ice tea (which is the best in town - REALLY!) and range from $5.29-$7.00. There's nothing fancy about this place, but the food is always good. It is one of my favorite places in town. I eat there at least 3 times a week. Tell them the crazy gringo from the music store sent you! read more
