Excellent food; great prices; and really nice people! The portions are large, and I often make a meal of guacamole and aka carte items.

They have the BEST TACOS EVER!!! I drive from Fort Wayne just to get these. Service is always fast and everyone is so friendly.

The servers were extremely nice which is the ONLY reason I give this place 2 stars the food was very bland I got the chicken tacos which is very basic and when it came out the chicken looked undercooked; and tasted old. So they could tell I didn't like it and offered steak tacos instead; those were equally bland and also; I felt bad for them having to remake it so I still gave them a 20 but I wouldn't come here if you want actual savory Mexican food; when I tell you I've been to many and this one was the worst by far! Just finished a delicious lunch at El Taco Loco. I had Fajita Nachos and my fajita of choice was shrimp. These nachos were loaded with shrimp and the most beautiful fajita vegetables. Beans and Queso Cheese rounded out the plate. Everything tasted great but a little too salty, and I salt everything. Service was good. Stopped in here while visiting nearby and I'm so glad we did! We were greeted when walking in, our waiter was very pleasant, and the food was amazing! I highly recommend stopping in if you are anywhere near El Taco Loco. I ordered steak fajitas and they were the BEST steak fajitas I've ever had! My husband ordered a steak burrito and a steak soft taco. Both dishes came with generous helpings of rice, veggie fix-ins, and refried beans. The service was amazing and the prices were great with generous portions. This place is a gem for sure. The owner/manager even stopped to ask how our meal was, excellent customer service! read more

Very good, they made us a dish not on the menu which I really appreciated. We will definitely be coming back the next time we're in the area. FYI, menu is not up to date on pricing, they wouldn't be in business if they were only charging those prices, but they definitely need to update menu to current pricing. I can't say enough good things about El Taco Loco! Food, service, drinks and atmosphere are always excellent. This is our go to place in Coldwater! Truly authentic Mexican cuisine made from scratch with the best ingredients. My out of town guests and clients are always amazed with this gem. It is on Monroe Street where Thursday nights is Hops on Monroe with live music, seating on the street, games, vendors and food trucks. What a Blast. Stopped here for late lunch today. Traveling and found on yelp, seeking gluten free lunch and alternate to fast food. Got 3 tacos to go as well as chips and mild green salsa. Oh my word, flavors were so great! Fresh and Tex-mex taste. Cilantro, Lime and onions (I added cheese) served on the tacos. Enjoyed one of each of these tacos -pork carnitas meat, chorizo, chicken. We stopped in with no formal plans to eat at this particular restaurant, but did so on a whim, and we will drive the 40 minutes north to become regular customers. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant and it is evident that the chef is passionate about the food and the staff care about the business. We enjoyed four different kinds of tacos, all fresh and overflowing with well seasoned meat and fresh cilantro. The salsas are delicious and more complex in flavor than any run of the mill dip for chips. We love chorizo and queso and the chori queso dip is delightful. I also tried the fresh made limeade. It is one of my favorite drinks, and it was perfectly refreshing and the right balance of sweet and tangy. We enjoy supporting businesses like this one. read more

We just went to El Taco Loco and I think it's my favorite Mexican restaurant. I have probably been to 25 different Mexican restaurants in my life, most near Toledo, Ohio where many people of Mexican descent live. When you walk in it looks like typical "ma & pop" restaurant, nothing fancy. The staff were wonderful, appropriately attentive; always a smile. The menu was vast with many dishes I've seen, some not. For the first time I chose the eggs, rice, and beans with a nice green sauce. The corn tortillas were tasty as was everything! The desert menu looked great! I have a strawberry crepe in a to go box! Stopped while traveling. Well worth the little extra drive off the exit in Coldwater. Food was authentic and to be honest some of the best Mexican food I've had in some time. I took a chance and glad I did. Food is much much better than any of the chain restaurants in the area. Place isn't real big, but is clean and had a small bar as well. I will stop back if again on my way North on 69 out of Indiana. Next time I will also try a Michelada. Seen others with them and wished I had ordered! read more

This place is amazing! My husband and I were visiting Coldwater for a wedding and decided to go out on a limb and try some Mexican food. We're both from California and are pretty snobby about our Mexican food, but this was great! I had chorizo and eggs and carnitas tacos and they were amazing. My wife and I had dinner here on July 6, 2021. The service was very prompt, the menu was a bit different than your staple Mexican restaurant but in a refreshing way and the food was very good! I ordered the Carney platter with corn tortilla shells and my wife ordered the combo(chicken,steak and shrimp) fajitas. Both meals were flavorful and filling! My wife got a Bahama mama drink which she was very pleased with and I got a margarita and ice that was just OK. Ate here about a month ago when we were in Coldwater looking at a summer home in Hillsdale Michigan. Found this place on YELP and swung by. What a little treasure we found. The young lady who was our server was named Kimberley. She could not have been more adorable. I was with my wife and son and the three of us enjoyed bantering with this young lady. The food was great...we even had one young lady in the back of the restaurant singing her heart out to some music they had playing...and when I sang along she looked out in horror that customers up front could hear her. It was hysterical. Very good food, very clean restaurant, great service, and fairly priced. Will go back when we are in Coldwater again. Well done. read more

Will definitely try this place again. The carnitas enchilada was $4 and was really good. The carnitas had lots of flavor and it had a good balance of ingredients. The chips, bean dip, and sliced limes in a basket that comes with every meal was a good change of pace from the typical Mexican places that serve just chips and salsa. Speaking of the salsa, it was served in squeeze bottles in mild (green) and hot (red). They were both really good and we used them on everything we ate. The only really bummer food-wise was the tamales. They were large enough, but were inconsistently steamed (one was over done the other needed a little more) and there was not enough meat or flavor. The only service/atmosphere issues were that the TV was absolutely blaring (even after we asked the waitress to turn it down) and assuming that we knew we needed to walk to the register to pay the bill. Another guest was confused as well as they asked us if we were regulars and if the waitress was going to bring the check. This needs to be more clear especially for first time diners. Overall however we will be stopping by again to try some of the other Mexican favorites as this is definitely more of an authentic taqueria and less of a Tex-mex place. read more

My husband and I popped in here and were very happy we did. It's in an older building in the downtown and is quaint but a little musty. It was very good food. All very fresh. We had the steak fajitas. Generous portions. Their green sauce was authentic and out of this world. Only snafu was when we ordered iced tea the waitress brought us sweet tea. My husband and I had El Loco Taco cater our wedding on Saturday. They agreed upon serving enough food for 140 people with a taco bar along with rice and beans. They were to be at the wedding around 4:30-5:00. The ceremony was over and we were waiting on food to arrive. They were late to the reception and showed up around 5:30. Our guests helped them bring in food because they were trying to hurry it along, so we could all eat. We were told everything would be there, yet there was not rice and beans and there was not enough queso for all of my guests. We were charged for everything and it was missing some big portions of the meal. I shouldn't have to double check everything on our wedding day. They should have had the courtesy to check their food before bringing it to us or at least make us aware of their mistake. I called once I realized things were missing and I was told they weren't sure what happened. I was also hung up on. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone if they need a catering option. VERY disappointing and unprofessional. read more

I tried El Taco Loco based on the positive reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, my experience did not mirror the others shared here. Food I ordered the carne asada dinner, along with a barbacoa taco and a side of queso dip. My wife ordered the taco salad with seasoned beef and my daughters ordered two steak tacos and a cheese quesadilla. The carne asada was quite good, but for $12.99, the portion was quite light. It was served with rice, retried beans, and five corn tortillas. The beans and rice were just ok, and a bit on the cool side when served. The barbacoa taco was disappointingly bland and dry. My wife's taco salad was reasonably well presented, but the seasoned ground beef was disappointingly bland. The steak tacos could have been good, but the meat was overlooked and therefore quite dry. The cheese quesadilla was just ok, but overall disappointing for the price. What about the queso? I never received it, so I cannot comment on that. Atmosphere The seating area is on par with a donut shop or similar low cost diner, but it was at least reasonably clean. Unfortunately, the TV in the front above the soda cooler was blaring an action movie out of its tinny-sounding speakers, which combined with the poor acoustics of the building, made it difficult to have a conversation with others at our table or to even hear the waitress. This could explain why I never received the queso dip that I ordered and asked about two times during the course of my meal, but never received. Service Our waitress was not rude or unpleasant, but she also was not very attentive or outgoing either. Perhaps the best way to describe the service would be apathetic. There were only two other patrons when we arrived and both were finishing their meals. Despite that, it still took about 20 minutes to receive our food after ordering. I also had to ask two times after ordering for my queso, but never received it. Once we finished eating, we waited nearly 20 minutes after our plates were cleared from the table for our bill, only to learn from watching another patron that you have to go up to the front to pay and they will tally up your total at the register. It would have been helpful for our waitress to tell us that. I also noticed after reviewing my receipt later that evening that they charged me the $3.00 for the queso I never received. :( Overall, it was a disappointing experience and definitely not worth the $50.00 that we paid for the experience. I cannot in good faith recommend dining in here, though it may be worth trying a few other types of tacos if you order carry out. read more

We recently moved to Coldwater, MI and were craving some good Mexican. We had tried a few other places and were not impressed. We lived in New Mexico for 13 years so we're fairly picky about Mexican food. This is the real deal. My go-to's are the campechanos tacos with cilantro and onions and a pork tamale. Overpriced and bland. No seasoning on the meat I got. Ordered two tacos and a tea. Bill was over 10$. How is that when the tacos were $2 each? Did they charge me over $5 for the tea? I have since tried this establishment again, and must say, their tamale's are the best I've ever had! WOW! One thing I found strange is, this must be the ONLY Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve salsa with tortilla chips. You get refried beans instead! My friend asked for salsa when the waitress set down the chips and she pointed to the hot sauce in a squeeze bottle. The Sopas looked like English muffins. Ate here with my wife and kids. Ordered the nachos added lettuce and tomato it was great. Kids got tacos and enjoyed them immensely. Instead of chips and salsa they bring out bean dip with the chips which was good. Overall we had a good experience of course there was only one other table of customers so it was easy to service our table. read more
