This is my most favorite Mexican restaurant in town. We eat here every week for our date lunch. The fajitas are amazing. Several different kinds to choose from. I like the Fajitas Jalisco. I like the sweet and spicy taste combination. Sweet from pineapple and spicy from mexican sausage, chicken, beef, peppers, and onions. It comes out sizzling hot and delicious. You get a plate of beans and rice with avacado, sour cream and tomatoes. Before I dig into my fajitas I HAVE to have the cheese dip with my chips. That dip is so yummy. Just spicy enough to give it a little kick. The salsa is pretty great too. They have a wonderful dessert called fried ice cream. Ice cream fried up in what looked like frosted flakes in a shell bowl with chocolate , strawberry sauce, whipped cream and cherry. So yummy. I haven't had any dish here that I didn't like. The tacos and burritos are really good. I like the fact if you run out of chips they refill your basket. We get there when they open and aren't busy. The service is always good and they are very friendly. I highly recommend. read more

The service was very pleasant and the food was amazing. It was very filling and all the dishes were great. The salsa had a great flavor and the chips were served warm to our table. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt about refills on our drinks. The prices were very fair and the portions were plentiful. It has a very "hole in the wall" vibe and honestly those are our favorite places to eat. We would most certainly visit again if we're in the area. read more

Delicious meal! Joselyn was congenial, able to laugh and great conversationalist. Knew the menu and mentioned specials right off the bat. She knew the special for everyday! We have tried one of the other Mexican restaurants in town and like it but decided to try El Cerrito since we hadn't been here before. The Camerones was delicious, lots of shrimp. The Rio Grande my partner had was also very very good and both were filling. We both had the 27oz special margarita, there are many flavors available. We would recommend to everyone! read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside but the customer service and the food are the BEST by far! Driving back from Detroit to Chicago and by the decision of our car were forced to take the scenic route and stumbled across this gem in our detour. My family comes here about twice a month. They have really good food and it always hot and fresh. Their prices are in the middle but you can probably still budget well here. Some of the booths do have rips in the leather sitting and it can be really scratchy but over all everything else looks nice and clean. read more

This was recommended to us by friends. While we understand we are all in the middle of a pandemic this place was no good. The service was barely friendly and pretty slow. Our food took forever to get to us and when it did it was incomplete and lukewarm at best. My husband ordered fajitas that came not sizzling like you would expect but basically cold. He had to wait 10 minutes for the tortillas that go with it. I ordered a burrito and it came without all the fillings listed on the menu. It was slightly warmer than the fajitas but had very little flavor. I have a hard time understanding how this place has such great reviews. We would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

We were told about this place by a friend & while in the area we randomly decided to stop and try it out. We weren't disappointed! Stopped in here while we were passing through Coldwater. I had the street tacos with shredded beef. They are bigger than I had expected but tasted great! The beef was nicely seasoned and their salsa has medium hot with good flavor. My wife had a beef burrito with rice and beans that she really enjoyed. The only knock we had is the chips are a bit greasy. Service was spot on. Other than that we highly recommend El Cerrito. read more

We were driving through Coldwater and I saw this place on Yelp. It seems like a little hole in the wall from the outside but inside it is warm and welcoming. The staff was very accomodating and friendly. Our server, Saul, even gave us his personal food reccomendations and they were all excellent. We had a party of 12 and Saul didnt even flinch at the overwhelming crowd. We had top notch service with steady refilling of drinks, chips, and salsa. The food didnt take too long and it was very delicious. Overall, if we are traveling through again, we will definitely be back. read more

Excellent authentic Mexican food! They make the rice like my moms! The guacamole is made with NO sour cream, the way it is intended. I ordered the Acapulco - grilled chicken and shrimp and onions, the sauce was incredible topped lightly with cheese. The food is good, and I would have previously given 4 stars, but we've recently had a few bad experiences. Dining in is great, but I ordered carry out and came home with the wrong meal (it looked right until I opened it) then I called to have the meal remade and bring back the wrong order and I was told that I WAS WRONG. That I got what I ordered and it was my fault for ordering the wrong meal. Then when I came to get the replacement, they never even made it and I had to wait there!! I have never in my life had such horrible customer service, so beware of ordering carry out, and make sure you have them repeat your order back to you!! read more
