I have been eating at this place since i was 7 years-old-- I am in my 40s now. I relocated away from the Valley and would occasionally pass by and grab some tacos when I'm back in town. But my most recent visit....well, not pleasant. Food: Delicious. BUT-- as I was eating, chewing, felt something hard. I took it out of my mouth and it is a wishbone-looking thing. THE FCKKKKK. I've been here 3 times, the food doesn't taste bad. It's acceptable. But it seems there's no separation between the food. You order rice and it sometimes comes mixed with meat or onions. Not great there. The location itself is heavily outdated, and seems like it's not clean. there's multiple locations so I imagine the owners make enough money to be able to redesign their locations. Service wise, like I said only 3 different occasions I've been to this location and service isn't great. Seems like the person in the front is taking the order while working in the back. If you want authentic Mexican food don't waste your time coming here, I came in for gorditas and flautas, paid about $52 for soggy food and al pastor meat that didn't look like that at all. The flautas were stale and the fact that they used Mozarella on top instead of queso fresco just shows you how unauthentic it is. Don't want to be fake and say they weren't nice because everyone was super friendly but it wasn't great tasting food at all. This is the most disgusting restaurant I've ever been to in my entire life. The food is awful and the bathroom is even worse. The guacamole is watery, the lettuce has such strong preservatives it doesn't even taste like lettuce. Service is slow. When I sent the bathroom pictures to the owners he said it was clean. I got 3 al pastor tacos with everything on them and I wasn't disappointed! The meat was juicy and fresh and the salsa they used wasn't too spicy. I felt it was just right. They have a great selection of different meats to choose from so you can put them in tacos or burritos or tortas. Will for sure be coming back again. Tacos were priced average but so worth it! My boss claimed to have tasted amazing food from here but, they speak spanish...... when i got in there were 2 customers in front of me and WHILE in line the clerks/cooks were taking the orders of spanish speakers BEHIND ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW. RUDE! Seriously, places that want to keep customers and gain new ones DO NOT skip over anyone!!! It was SO unprofessional, horrible service and this usually happens in places that dont speak english as their first language. So, i didnt look hispanic and that was enough for them to wait for me to get up to the cashier to order - while the spanish speakers BEHIND me ordered and got their food made before i even ordered!!! When i got up to the counter and asked the guy if people were ordering before me, he didnt know what to say.......................................really...????!! I cannot believe what had happened. They are the biggest fail in my 818 experience so far. Such a disappointment!! They will get NO money from me or any of my family/friends. I love El Taco Llama more than King Taco because of the following: 1. Unlimited salsa- they have a salsa bar where you can get as much salsa as you want for no charge unlike King Taco. 2. The carne asada is so good- the carne asada is my favorite here. It's chewy yet tender. King taco does have better lengua though. 3. They have the softest corn tortillas- even though they buy their tortillas, they still are soft and not dry like other taco joints who also buy tortillas. 4. The price is right- at about 1.28 a taco I have no complaints 5. They are all over the valley. The closest King Taco is in Pasadena. So yummy that I want more tacos. I ordered a Combo: Carne Asada burrito (really big!) with a Carne Asada Taco, rice, beans and cheese, tortilla chips and a small salad with a little guacamole. A really good deal! All were tasty. Staff is friendly enough. FYI though this place is cash only, but they have an ATM inside. Also the parking area is small and across the street from a large school. Also, the area is very busy. So be careful of the day and time you decide to try this place out. Is it worth it? Sure, I'd come again. I've been coming here often for their carne asada burritos and tacos and occasionally their carne asada fries. It's a solid restaurant. Near where I am and prices are decent. They have upped their prices over the years but overall still cheaper than most places. Carne asada fries aren't as good as Alberto's but it manages to hit the spot if you're craving it.
