Prices are a bit less, ranging from $19 for Teppan Chicken with rice or a Yaki Soba (noodles) Chicken. We shared their pricier (but very delicious) Takumi Combo at $29 with choice of 2: (real filet mignon, chicken, Korean BBQ, shrimp, scallops, salmon) with fresh Teppan vegetables and rice. The order was big enough to share with two of us. Takumi only opens late afternoon until 10 pm. You can also order ahead of time via meal delivery apps like GrubHub. We highly suggest going since there are no Teppan restaurants in the immediate Oxnard or Port Hueneme area, and this food truck is surprisingly very authentic... minus the theatrical antics of a Benihana Teppan chef (which I can do without).

We picked up at their Esplanade Dr. location in Oxnard, staff were very friendly and our order was ready fairly quickly. Definitely on our rotation when we get that craving for steak or seafood.

(A good sign and the reason became obvious after we took our first bite.) The grilled onions on the side was a nice add and they were very good. Good portion sizes. Each dish was very tasty. Chile relleno had a nice eggy dough around it. The tortillas were fresh and had a nice chew to it. The al pastor and asada were tender and had nice flavor. The burrito was generously filled and the asada fries also had a generous heaping of meat. Would definitely recommend and return, if the opportunity arises.

Sandwiches are serviced on Hawaiian rolls which don't hold up well to the weight and moisture of the chicken and all of the toppings. This makes the sandwiches harder to eat than they should be. The highlight was the chicken was cooked perfectly. It was juicy and the breading was consistent. Flavor however was lacking a bit, not talking just heat, but flavor. Sides wise the fries were decent, I'd skip the Mac and Cheese as the pasta was mushy and the sauce lacked flavor. Decent spot in a pinch, but there's better spots for hot chicken IMO. Staff was busy so hard to give an opinion, I ordered from a kiosk, which is always a bit of a let down.

Very average BBQ…read more.. I'm a self-admitted BBQ purist, impartial to NC BBQ, but have also had some of the best BBQ in TX (Terry Blacks, Goldees, and Franklin), and this is simply not TX BBQ. The restaurant is situated off the beaten path in the business district, but it's impossible to miss with the huge smoker sitting out front. It's a small restaurant with just a few tables and the ordering situation is a bit wonky (just one small window to order and pickup from). The staff was ultra-friendly and the food came out quick. As for the food, it was just okay... The BBQ itself wasn't bad, but it was definitely precut and kept in warmers (this would give a pit master down in TX a myocardial infarction as this is a huge "no no"); the sides were actually really good though. The total was about $30 for lunch, which to me was a bit high based on the quality of the BBQ. Overall... Not bad, not great, but not certainly TX BBQ.

Being a food truck, the vibes are super casual and laid back. You place your order, then grab a seat at one of their picnic benches and soak up the sunshine. The staff were incredibly nice, and the sweet little touches like the handwritten note on the to go bag were just too cute. We love those kinds of vibes! Here's what I got: Single Smash Burger: A solid and delicious smash burger! The bun was pillowy soft, the patty had a nice crust, and I'm always a sucker for cheese, thin sliced lettuce, and a thousand island style sauce on a burger. No frills, just super satisfying and done right. Cosmo Fries: Honestly my favorite bite of the day! Loaded fries topped with cheese, onions, burger patty, and their pink sauce...absolutely insane. SO good. I loved the skinny fries they use, and since everything was made fresh to order, the fries stayed extra crispy even with all the toppings. My biggest regret is passing by this food truck for so long without stopping. That was genuinely a stellar smash burger and fries combo, with the added bonus of such friendly and welcoming staff. Next time you're walking around Downtown Ventura and want a casual outdoor bite, definitely make a stop at Cosmos Smash Burgers. (Located at the Channel Islands Juice Co. parking lot just fyi).
