El Super Burrito is our go-to for cheap, neighborhood Mexican eats. My order is either the beef enchiladas with red sauce, that come with rice and beans, or a couple of carnitas tacos. Another good bet is their carnitas nachos, since their chips are freshly fried in house and hot and crisp. These same chips accompany all orders with good salsa. Do avoid anything with fish, like their fish burritos, because the fish is probably frozen and not fresh. Also avoid their carne asada which is like ground beef. Really loved this place! Great prices on food and great deals for each week day! We were here religiously every Tuesday for the tacos (they were $1.25 or $1.50)! Great deal and it came with some chips as well! The tacos were flavorful, came with cilantro and onions(if you want), as well as red and green salsa Ls! I so wanted this to not end in a 1 star... The first time my boyfriend and I went out to eat, we ate here. It was amazing. But we ate in that time. Almost 2 years later, we found ourselves calling our order in and driving 40 min there, in holiday traffic, SUPER hungry and super excited. We ordered: 2 Super burritos, both no rice and one with no guac 1 order of chicken nachos. Came out to $30. We get there and it's ready and the girl was nice enough. When we get home, the burritos looked... deflated? Oh well, we said whatever. Mine was the order with no guac... but that's all I got. Guac and lettuce. No joke, 3 chunks of meat. All. Lettuce. $9 for a guac and lettuce burrito? Um no thanks. I should also mention that this $9 burrito, does NOT come with sour cream... but it says so online AND when we called it in, we were told it would. Nope. I was pissed and my boyfriend opened the nachos. Soggy. But that's our fault for taking them 40 min back home. However, 2 bites of the chicken had bone pieces. Yumm. So at this point I'm beyond irritated. As I'm pouting, I pick a piece of what looked like a plastic fork prong (?) from my lettuce burrito and I finally had it. We jump into the car and drive the 40 min back. I was TOLD when I got there that there was no guac in it. TOLD! So I open it up and show her. She looked surprised and then I mentioned the sour cream missing. She tells me "no we charge more for sour cream" ... uh okay. But I paid $9 for one burrito... but whatever. Fix it. So I ask if I can just get something else. She says sure, and I ask about the rolled tacos... she says $1 something and tries to call it even. Ugh. I say screw it and just reordered the burrito the way I asked for it the first time. Got it home, still deflated. But the meat is kinda there now. The meat that is there now, is weird, chewy and dry (scratchy if that makes sense). The beans lack all flavor and it's screaming for more salt ANYWHERE in the burrito. Man, what the eff? It seems like when you eat in, they actually give a crap. Probably because you're right there. Ordering out has been a huge disappointment and especially sad because we were so excited to share that again. Thanks guys, for making me have to tell my boyfriend that the place he was excited to share with me, was disgusting. But hey! Super burrito always hits the spot. Love that it's a little stand that's outdoors, makes the experience more enjoyable to me outside in the sunshine. Generally it's pretty busy on the weekends for lunch, order up at the counter, grab a seat (which may be hard to find) and wait for them to call your meal out. Everything we've ever tried here has been good, not amazing or the best Mexican food I've ever had but decent for a quick lunch. Large portions for your money, their burritos are gigantic so be hungry if that's what your ordering. Tacos are also good & their Jamaica is As tasty as any I've had before. I came back for the 2nd weekend in a row. Their bfast burrito is currently my new favorite. Size wise....I can only get through 1/2 of it and I am beyond stuffed. What sets their bfast burritos apart from the rest? Onion and cilantro added! Additionally, their burritos comes with fresh tortilla chips....even at 7:00 AM. The sausage are cut up small, and has a great sliced potato ratio inside. I added a little bit of cheese and avocado slices for $1.10. The people who work here are really great. Why 4 out of 5? I like eating at places like this but as always its either a hit or a miss. I wanted to do the man vs food thing with their Super Burrito, so that's what I ordered. I told the lady in spanish that I wanted their hottest chili added to the burrito. There were a couple of customers waiting around so I got my burrito within 5 minutes. At the pick up window I was amazed on how huge and nice the burrito looked, nice presentation. That was the best part, then I started eating the thing and realized it was luke warm. My girlfriend and I have passed by this restaurant numerous times while shopping at Plummers. Finally we took the plunge on Friday night. My GF had one of the plates that included a beef enchilada and chicken soft taco. She also had spanish rice and beens with her plate. I had two carne asada tacos, two chicken tacos and two fish tacos. The carne asada was juicy and well-marinated, the chicken tacos were excellent with the chicken being juicy and a slight smoky flavor. I honestly have to say that I was disappointed with the fish tacos. The fish was crispy, but not very flavorful and my least favorite of the three tacos. Fish tacos are normally my favorite, but I think I'll stick with the chicken and carne asada. Parking was no problem since Plummers was closed and eating outdoors was enjoyable, watching the traffic go by on Colorado. They don't accept credit cards and you order at one window while picking up at another window. The staff is very friendly and our experience was great, but I'd pass on the fish tacos and stick to Carne Asada or Chicken. I'll try the Carnitas next time and give everyone an update. Update: The Carnitas rock!!!! I'm always worried that pork will be overcooked and stringy because it is so easy to do, but the Carnitas were tender and very flavorful. I ordered a Chicken Quesadilla and wasn't very impressed with it. My girlfriend ordered the Super Burrito (it's HUGE!!!) and didn't enjoy it as much as she enjoyed El Super Burrito's tacos the last time. After sampling her burrito, I'd have to agree. First time here ... I ordered the Carne Asada Steak and my husband the Steak Picado. Everything was plated beautifully but my Carne Asada Steak was a bit hard and tough like leather. One of my favorite hole in the walls. They only have outdoor seating, but it's very comfortable and nicely decorated. Their super burrito is MASSIVE and so good. I honestly haven't had the burritos here because it looks ginormous and I just can't bring myself to order it because I will then be forced to eat it all in one sitting... BUT sign me up for any place that includes grilled fish tacos in their $1 taco tuesday menu. These tacos are honestly even bigger than regular street tacos too! Just tried this place for the first time despite being a native to Pasadena. I got the super burrito with carnitas, a horchata, and a PLAIN chicken taco. Most definitely disappointed. I've never had a burrito with so little flavor and there's so much of it. What a waste. There was no sour cream in it despite it being advertised. The chicken taco was supposed to be plain and it had onions all over it (and green chili's but I'm thinking that might be part of their chicken). Super Burrito is right, the burritos here are HUGE! I was suprised the first time I saw it, the burritos are not bad, but not the best I have had really a size over quality. But where I am really impressed with El Super Burrito is the TACO'S they are great! My favorite is Lengua love the cilantro and chopped onions they put on the tacos, and the salsa is GREAT I love the red salsa! This place is a hidden gem. Just talked to the owner, He's super nice guy. Everything is made fresh. Patio is now like an Oasis in the city. Close to Rosemead Blvd. It doesn't get the attention it should. The other day I had 2 tamales ala cart. 7 bucks big fresh and served wet with red sauce ohh so yummy!!!. I had the Super Burrito, which was fabulous. Don't order it if you've already eaten today or plan to eat again because it's a full day's worth of food and good to the last bite. The atmosphere is casual and rustic - outdoor picnic tables that probably only get wiped down once a day. Thus they only get four stars from me. They could easily do a bit more to make it a lot more comfortable - perhaps making water, utensils, and napkins available without having to go back and stand (or cut) in line again. read more

I like how fast this place takes to prepare food. They're fast and efficient no matter how much food I order. I've eaten here and picked up take out many times throughout many years. The food is not bad at all. Taco Tuesdays for $1 is the best day to go. My favorite thing to order is probably the camarones ala diabla. The hot sauce is spicy compared to most other places.
