My husband and I came in about 30 minutes after they opened, there were about 3 occupied tables including ours. The service was slow and our waitress seemed very awkward and uncomfortable for whatever reason which was strange. The chicken fajitas were very bland in flavor but the chicken was soft. For the price of the food, I was expecting a lot better. For this place trying to be more upscale, the restaurant has very ugly beat up floors and very cheap tables and chairs. It's wonderful have this new restaurant in Olympia. The Oaxacan food style food is amazing. Atmosphere is lovely; service although a little slow was friendly and accommodating. My friend had Cielo Mar y Tierra and I had Pina Al Pastor both dishes were DELICIOUS with amazing flavors. I'm definitely going back again and again. My husband and I heard this place was pretty good so we decided to give it a try. I was pretty happy with the Camerones Flameados and my husband had the Carne Asada. Both dishes were good but his steak was not prepared as well as he'd asked. Also when taking our order the lady asked him what kind of tortillas but didn't inform him that the homemade tortillas would cost nearly $4 for three of them. He was under the impression that they were included like most places so it was a surprise to see the charge on our bill. Otherwise, we did enjoy it and plan to return. read more

I really dislike leaving negative reviews but I wish I would have saw something like this before making the decision to come here for dinner. To start out, I called and requested a reservation for 6:30 and they told me they only had a spot available for 6:15 or 7:15... not a big deal. I took the 6:15 and when we got there, the restaurant was 70% empty... our waitress was nice and quick to give us service. Our drinks were okay. We ordered the table side guacamole and it was brought to us in a large bowl, maybe 1 avocado total with a little pico... super unimpressive. The waitress left the salt at table side and told us there was some salt I'd needed. Little did I know... this was a setup. The guac had no salt in it, Chips were under salted and all the food we had came under salted. My husband got the enchiladas which everything needed salt and the sauce was bland. I ordered the carne asada which was good once I added salt to all of it. I will say the home made tortillas were wonderful. I think this place could have potential... they need to try their food before serving it.. be more generous with seasoning and maybe not skimp out so much on the guacamole. read more

I'd like to recommend Camerones Flameados Al Mezcal, because the server will set it on fire right at your table, and that's worth $19 isn't it? to see a 3 ft flame and then eat the shrimp! BUT Let me start by saying that our regressive tax system in Washington State relies on sales tax. And I happily pay it, because the biggest part of the state budget is education, and I've seen the bumper sticker: Think Education is expensive? try Ignorance! and then there's the state patrol, parks, fish and wildlife, I'm OK with the Washington State tax. So I got the bill and uh-oh, $6.30 tax, then $.60 "scratch for the kitchen" and the two added together on a line labeled TOTAL TAXES: $6.90 WHAT IS THIS? The server says "Well they don't pay the cooks enough" and "I give the cooks $10 from my tips" - It looks like the State of WA is being gypped here - 'cause part of total taxes is being diverted. And this is lame - at Shari's diner, my tip is shared with the host, the busser, the cook and the wait-staff. At El Sitio, I'm dropping a $20 tip and the cook gets 60 cents? Really? The server asked the manager to come explain. I never saw the manager - and I was there quite awhile - the server took my debit card, but didn't run it. Returned it with a receipt with a QR code to scan and pay. 5 failed attempts later - different web page each time appearing, including one directed at the restaurant to use this faulty system. I finally walked to the register with the same card the server had neglected and paid. Staff there could not explain why "Scratch for the kitchen" was listed as a tax. Still no manager appears. This foolish mislabeled receipt spoiled my dinner. It just looks mean spirited to the cooks. sixty cents. Maybe 50 meals later 4 cooks can split the $30. Whoopity-do. Just pay them already, and charge me what it costs to cook and serve a meal already. read more

I wanted to really like this restaurant. We have been a handful of times and the same issue every time! Food has always been delicious, but the service has been horrible. Every time the service has been exceptionally slow if they are busy or not. We have been when it's busy, and when it's dead with MULTIPLE workers but again service is slow like they don't care. We have had to ask for our beers (multiple times) after ordering and waiting, as a few workers are in the bar talking when it's dead. I don't want to put everything that has happened.. but it's just been very lousy service every time, so much to where we have no desire to go back. Came in with a larger group mid week. Service was slow but friendly. Lights in the restaurant would dim and brighten intermittently and did not help the ambiance of the restaurant. Paloma was good and queso birria with rice was unfortunately not as good as I was hoping for as I am a birria fan. One of the worst experiences at a restaurant ever! We went for my boyfriends birthday as we had seen lots of ads for the tomahawk dinner. We walked in and waited over 10 minutes to even be acknowledged. From there the waitress said to sit wherever we wanted (we sat in bar side) she then said oh sorry this area isn't open. She moved us to another table and handed us 1 menu for 4 people and asked what we would like to order for dinner; WE HAD LITERALLY NOT EVEN LOOKED AT THE MENU YET! We came here for my wife's birthday and were really looking forward to it. It was a Friday and really crowded and we hadn't made reservations so there was a bit of a wait, which we should've expected -- no problem. I think we waited for half an hour flagged someone down...an hour. We did eventually get our margaritas. *As others have mentioned, there is no drink menu, which IS strange and completely unclear as to how much drinks cost, so beware. We ordered queso fundido with chorizo, carne asada, a kind of giant tortilla pizza, the name I can't remember, and a burrito for my daughter. Nothing too complicated Anyway, we were basically forgotten by the wait staff for a long time. No one likes that. My carne asada eventualy arrived first before the appetizer and was not warm. It was just OK and a bit rubbery. Definitely not 'the best Carne Asada in the US as the menu says. :( Served with beans (good!) and handmade tortilla's (skip the extra cost). We waited a long time more for the other entrees after flagging someone down again, they eventualy came. After all of this, the appetizer, which we said we no longer wanted. As others have mentioned, the queso dip comes on a kind of flaming grill thingy, which is interesting. They comped the appetizer. My wife said her tortilla pizza thing was just ok, but would not order it again. It did have an interesting side sauce that was truly spicy. My daughter thought her burrito was good, so there was a win. Overall, pretty dissappointing. I'm trying this place for a third time. First time was for drinks which was fun but not overly impressive. Spicy Margs, Gin and Tonics, and some skinny Margs. My friends order was forgotten and drinks took a while with too much ice on each round. I ordered a two burrito delivery last week and essentially got rice and bean burritos with the stuffing scattered over the tops without much heft to either. Meats were dry and fajita sauce was a bit bland. I also question the idea of a fork and knife delivery burrito??? The food was also delivered in Styrofoam so points off there. Tonight, I ordered two authentic dishes, Surf and turf as well as pineapple pastor. The Pastor came ready to go and really was quite good with plenty of (or just enough) filling for my 4 corn tortillas and I have some leftovers. The surf and turf came in a less dramatic fashion...more of a dry meats grab box. Sauce was on the side and the cheese was in it but not melted, I did not detect any onions. Between the two meals, I remember one single green onion. I tossed the sauce on the surf and turf and put it in the fridge to marinate so tomorrow is covered. For the record, the meats were not as dry as they looked. Also, the shrimp are served with heads tails and whole bodies with feet and antennas. They look like tiny aliens and could scare children. So you have to really know what you are doing, which I don't so no points off there. I'll study before my dish tomorrow. Also this experiment is running about $200 currently so the place isn't exactly cheap. The verdict: This is not where you come for an economy burrito this is where you go when you just earned a stupid monthly bonus and you want to treat a party of your friends to an absolute experience. This is a new place opening in a Pandemic folks, let's give it a fair shot. I think its a solid four star establishment once the growing pains are ironed out. read more

Reviews and pictures on Yelp were good and we were excited for date night to try this fairly new place in downtown Olympia. We were attending a show at the Washington performing arts center and wanted somewhere in walking distance. This place came highly recommended to me & we LOVE true authentic Mexican food. So, we were very excited to give this place a whirl. We don't normally order table-side items but for some reason tonight, I was in the mood to be awed and impressed. Boo!!! We ordered table side guacamole which was $10! I mean it was ok, but I make better at home. It didn't come with chips, it came with little tostadas. I assume they were made fresh in house. They were pretty good, not greasy. I ordered the table side flambéed shrimp. (Camerones Flameados). Someone at the table next us ordered the same thing, so I got a preview of the table side experience. I have attached the video of my flambeed shrimp experience which was more of shrimp bomb-èed instead instead of shrimp flambeed. Less than climatic to say the least. It was an epic failure. I did let the guy know that was not impressive & was nothing like the guy who ordered at the other table. He apologized and blamed it on the torch. Whatever! The shrimp was gulf shrimp and basically was shrimp, garlic and canned pineapple. Well, it appeared to be canned pineapple, I can't say if it were fresh or not? But I felt like the shrimp was bland and could've been marinated to give it some better flavor. I did eat the dish but it was just mediocre at best, which is why this restaurant gets a three star review. My husband's dish ordered was Cielo Mar y Tierra. We saw lots of recommendations for that dish on Yelp so he ordered it. His meat was dry and over cooked, but the refried beans and the sauce was good, so he said. The fresh made flour tortillas were delicious and the highlight for our dishes. For the $100 bill spent -- it was none too impressive. T My family and I have dined here atleast 5 times. The food is great. The reason for 1 star is, the service. The service is absolutely terrible. The last time we were there, there were 4 if us. There were two other, two top tables. We waited for over 20 minutes for beverages....and then went to the bar to get them ourselves. We had reservations for 6:15, arrived at 6:00 and was seated right away but tried to give us a table for 4, we made reservations for 5 and a high chair, she did then seat us at a table for 6 but it was small. We sat for 40 mins with no water and no waitress. Finally we asked if we had a waitress and they kind of acted as if they didn't know who it was but pointed to a woman and said it was her. Waited some more and the waitress asked if we'd like to order drinks and after I said what I wanted, without asking anyone else, she went and grabbed menus and came back to our table. The rest of the party ordered drinks and she brought them out eventually, and they consisted of a glass with ice and a can of Pepsi. My $14 alcoholic drink was mainly just strong alcohol. On to the food. The tomahawk was very tender and would have been a delicious steak if it had flavor. We all sampled it and had the same opinion. Tomahawk $120. The rest of the food was mediocre. Fajitas had very little meat and consisted of very thin slices of beef. The tortillas were good but very small and you get 3. Everyones rice and beans were COLD. The guacamole was 1 avocado and onions and tomatoes. Bland and enough for one maybe two people. The waitress was strange or had a language barrier. One or the other. The building was so smoky that they had to open windows. Not a great experience and we were all so excited to go there. This place has so much potential. Authentic deep Mexico food. This is an absolute amazing place. We had their ceviche, a cactus plate and a burrito plate. Dynomite!! The drinks were fantastic even though they did not have a bartender when we came in. Remember everyone is just starting to reopen and many places cannot find employees due to the high wage of unemployment. We understand that sometimes good places can be short staffed. If you're not familiar with the tastes of Cancun, you may not understand their food and the taste. This is where I think the poor reviewers come in. Here's my problem w/ this place. (Wagyu - Thin slices of delicious wagyu beef to cook over a hot stone) this place is serving usda choice (at best) and presenting it as wagyu. The other dishes were fine, but I refuse to go back to a place that intentionally deceives their customers. ETA: I have worked in the meat industry for 7+ years in a USDA plant.
