Wonderful food here in MS. The servers are friendly and happy to meet your acquaintance. We really enjoyed their beans and rice! Great enchiladas and nachos. We will keep trying more dishes on their menu as it's a tough choice... meaning it all sounds delicious! Their House Margarita is smooth and nice. Club soda should be free in all restaurants as it is only sparkling water. Anyway, price is realistic and you have ample food to enjoy. Let's not forget Free chips and salsa, yummy! Got seated and was never brought a menu. I started a timer and sat there for over 5 minutes and had several servers just stare at me instead of coming over to greet me. I've been here several times and tipped over 20% each time. I'm in the service industry myself and know how to be polite. No reason to be treated like this; will find another Mexican restaurant to make my go-to. Edit: I called them and they explained that nobody served me because the servers who had that section were on break. That doesn't make sense because there was a table two booths from me but regardless, you don't make excuses for not serving someone. How was I, the customer, supposed to know that? Yes indeed this restaurant hit the spot. If I wasn't driving I would have sat down and had some margaritas, I saw other patrons consuming them and they had smiles. The staff was friendly and patient as I flippity flopped through the menu. The menu is huge with tons of options, combos, mix and matches, and hidden gems. Of course my order was takeout (side note I had just left the mall across the street so I was a bit hangry). My family and I have tried several local Mexican restaurants since relocating to the Gulf Coast from SoCal. Nothing came merely close to the authentic Mexican food we have had until we ordered from El Saltillo!!! We ordered a burrito, fajita nachos, al pastor tacos, and a frozen mango margarita. I tried a piece of the steak from my sons nachos and it was delicious and tender. My boys both loved their food and I loved mine! The rice and beans were so good and not bland at all. The frozen mango margarita was delicious! We will definitely order from here again! read more

This is probably one of the worst Mexican restaurants I've been to. I've tried it twice now because I always like to give second chances and it let me down again. The salsa had ridiculously large pieces of tomato, the ground beef was pink, the shredded chicken was dry. Our waiter was talking on the phone through and air pod while serving us. read more

El saltillo mexican restaurant is a good choice and a great convenient location. Beach Blvd. by the Edgewater Mall. During the "Cruisin' the Coast" 2018 in Biloxi. They were very busy. But we were promptly seated. Salsa and warm chips then a waitress came soon after for drink and appetizer orders. Once we placed food orders. There was a slight wait. Being how busy they was it wasn't to bad. Salsa was good. Cilantro and onions in seasoned salsa, not just plain tomatoes. Our food was hot, fresh and delicious. Cheese burger & fries. Bean dip, giant extra large burrito, chicken wings, etc...when we come back next year we will stop by here!!! read more

We came here on a visit from SC this week, and remembered this spot from about 3 years ago. This is by far the best Mexican restaurant anywhere on this side of the US! Had the fajita nachos and mushroom quesadillas. Nachos were piled high, and came with real fresh cut jalapeños and lettuce, sour creame and even guacamole, and for a price cheaper than the bigger chain restaurants. The mushroom quesadillas are excellent, with the mushrooms marinated in chicken broth and packed with cheese. The staff was excellent, friendly, and tended to our every need without hovering over us. We were greeted several times by any staff that came near us, making us feel beyond welcome. Anytime we are in town, this restaurant is a must for dinner or lunch! read more

Hands down... probably one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to. Food was fantastic and the service was very attentive. If I HAD to find anything wrong it would probably be that the waiter was too attentive as he was constantly checking on us. But... at least he was there, right? Lol The place doesn't look like much from the outside as it's in a strip mall but the inside is very nice and well decorated but most importantly, it appeared to be clean. The chips and salsa were fresh tasting and the queso dip was very good. I had the shrimp nachos and my mother had the fajitas... both from the lunch menu and the portion sizes were amazingly large. I had zero complaints here, and the "attentiveness" comment wasn't even a real complaint.... just sayin. I would most definitely recommend this place and would be a regular if I lived here. read more

I was there last 5 months ago. First off when we walked in there was no one to seat us. After a couple minutes we just sat down. The person supposed to seat us came up talking on his phone, just put down the menu on the table, did not look at us or say anything The waitress was GREAT. I arrived mid day there were only a few other tables in the dining room. I was greeted right away and seated. The restaurant seemed clean and well cared for. My server was Rachael and she was great, very prompt new the menu very well and always smiling. I ordered a Margarita to start with and the Chorizo Dip Queso Fundido and one Carne asada taco. My plan was if I really liked the taco I would order 2 more. Well the appetizer came and it was fantastic, very hot lots of flavor fresh hot tortillas I could not have liked it more. The Taco arrived on a double corn tortilla with lime, cilantro and fresh diced onion as it should. The flavors ere all there but the meat was over cooked and a bit dry. Well have read some kinda bad reviews about this place. My experience was awesome! The food was great had the El Molcajete. Split with the wife. More than enough for two. The service was fast our waitress was too cute. Janelly, is the best! But the best part was we could smoke in the dining room! Thank You Mississippi for not sucking like those Commonwealth states. TL;DR food is alright, service is quick and attentive. I came here on a weeknight, not exactly sure what to expect. The chips came out hot, but the salsa was a bit bland. It was fresh tasting though. The menu was large and had a good selection of food that was not limited to just combinations, burritos, and tacos. If you order a dinner entree, you can get yourself a bowl of bean soup for free. With that being said, I ordered a steak burrito which had refined beans and steak in it, rice and beans on the side, and cheese sauce covering it. The steak was cooked well, and the cheese came out hot so that it hadn't turned into a solid sheet on my food (always a plus). I did not try the soup though, so I'm of no help there. The quality of the food itself seems good so I was bummed that I received ground beef instead of chicken in my taco salad, especially because I don't really like beef. Went with my boyfriend as a date night to share nachos and have a drink. We had both ordered a margarita. I wanted mine on ice and his frozen. The waitress then suggested she make us a pina colada instead. That is was soooo good. I said ok, I'd tried it. So she brought us these drinks and I'm sure it had no alcohol in it at all because I rarely drink and felt nothing. It was tasty but alcohol free! The nachos had spicy jalapeños so soon the drinks were gone. We asked the waitress for 2 beers to try and wash down the heat. She was right there at the bar and said just a minute, and NEVER came back! I couldn't even eat anymore without a drink. Finally flagged down a different waiter and he brought us a beer. Also, the guacamole tasted like peas and even mentioned to the first waitress it wasn't good and she agreed. When we were done, I told her I didn't feel anything with the drink she made and I'd know since I hadn't had an alcoholic drink in about 2 months. She then said I should have ordered the margarita on the rocks! I said that's what I had originally ordered but you talked me out of it! The vibe there was just really bad. Food- subpar at best. Service- the worst. We will never go back. We left and went to Lucy's on the beach to lift our vibes back up which clearly the waitress was trying to bring down. Don't go there! I am NOT an avid reviewer however as I sit here in El Saltillo I am in awe and compelled to write a great review. I AM however an avid quesadilla eater and this is the most delicious one I've ever had.. My husband and I came for some margs. With an extremely reasonable margarita menu coming in all sizes (60 oz included) we were nothing short of pleased. We decided to order some chips, then were given them for free. For our second bite choice I ordered an a la carte shredded chicken quesadilla (added peppers and onions) (which was a mere 3.75 before the add ons) and was unaware of the magic that was to come. Hello my fellow yelpers El Saltillo is the prime example of don't judge a book by its cover its the most beautiful hole in the wall I have ever been to The food on the first hand is amazing the chips are a bit stale but that's all good in my book. It's a great place to get a quick fix of Mexican food in Biloxi. I strongly advise to get the super steak burrito. Just going to do an update on this restaurant, with it being a couple years since I wrote a review on this restaurant. Unfortunately, the service was decent enough, but the atmosphere of the restaurant could have been much better than expected. The price of the food, especially for its value, is good as usual. Though it may not be the best restaurant in town, it's not the worst at all. Had the steak fajitas, lunch special, but food defeated me and it was due to large portions. I would come back to the establishment again, but take it from my perspective due to the large lunch portions. read more

Just a quick update. This place has risen super dramatically in the world of late. The food now is at a level that is almost unrecognizable compared with how it has been during the previous seven or so years. The food is now truly gourmet, as good as anything you're going to find in any Mexican restaurant anywhere, whether Tex-Mex Texas or old-school Mexican Mexico. The bar, or cantina, is an awesome place to hang out and down cervezas or margaritas or, for that matter, dirty martinis or anything else you can find in the Big Fat Trader Vic's Holy Book Of Hootch. The staff are all great people too, including Jorge, who says he will even go off-menu for you for a special order, if you give him, say, three days notice. So, like, yeah order you some mole con pollo and Jorge will have his wife make it at home, and then he'll bring it in, and you can buy it, yeah, off-menu. Prepare, of course, for a little higher price for such special orders, but everything should be well worth it. Wonder if they'd make you albóndigas? Bet they would! An order of hand-made tortillas de maiz o de harina? Yep, I bet so. And so and so on and so forth . . . Anyway, this is now the place to go, in Biloxi, at least, and I'd recommend it 100% over certain competitors in town who shall remain nameless. Similar thing happened to me as Audry review. I ordered taco salad with sour cream and guac on side when it came there was no guac. I asked him to please bring it he charged me $4 for a side. I pointed this out and suddenly he didn't speak English well. I paid. Never will return. Too many good Mexican places near by. This was always the closest to me but never again. I was out running errands and became hungry, so I called a order in for chicken fajitas with no rice and no beans. I was told it would be a ten minute wait. No problem. Fifteen minutes later I arrive and go in to get my food and have to wait about ten minutes. Ok,whatever, out comes my food in a big brown paper bag, I paid and tipped and went home. Once I got home, I set it all up so I could stuff my face. Now the problems start. The chips tasted old and stale and good god the salsa tasted of just salt, and only salt. So salty I couldn't eat it, I threw the chips and salsa away and started on the fajitas. The fajitas were ok, I've had worse. They were dry and not much seasoning at all. But... they did get the order right, no beans and no rice. Yay! So now you ask the big question. Will I be a return customer to dine in their fine establishment?
