I'd be nice if they put the salad away from the rice/beans instead of on top. And our server wasn't super friendly. But we got our food in less than 10 minutes and enjoyed the heck out of it! Coming from New Orleans, we came across this place when driving through Mississippi to go to Pensacola. I didn't know what the La Chusma was, but it looked tasty on the menu, and when I ordered it, it is probably one of the most favorite things I have ever eaten. It comes with rice, veggies, various meats and seafood, and it's smothered in different cheeses. It is freakin amazing, and I recommend trying it! Service is fast and staff are friendly. In searching for a good Mexican restaurant, I have tasted dishes that were good and bad. What I noticed was some put only meat in their burritos and others more rice... it's never the right combo. When you order tacos, they are a soggy mess. This Mexican restaurant has totally changed my oh hum outlook towards Mexican restaurants. I saw it when I took my dog to the nearby veterinarian. Boy, I'm glad I did. I ordered the Macho Burrito and Super Tacos. When I got home and opened the tray that held the burrito, I was amazed at how huge it was. It was full of shrimp, steak and chicken with just the right amount of cheese, rice and veggies. It was so large that I ate two meals out of it. The super tacos were SUPER DELICIOUS! Went and had dinner on august 6th. Food was great and after we received the check and added the tip which I only gave 10% and the reason I gave that was because the order was messed up. I always take photos of my restaurant receipts for this reason. the next day I checked my checking account and they had taken an extra .65 cents and added it to the check. Wrote an email hoping to hear back never heard back. Called and spoke with the manager and she helped me out. I understand Money is money and if I didn't add it to the check or give it to you then that's stealing. May just be .65 cents to some to not worry about but that's not what this is about. You took extra money that didn't belong to you. So please always take photos of your receipt's and check your account and know that your waitress or waiter are the ones that run your check and card through the machines not the restaurant itself. read more

Such a disappointment! Came here for a second time as Jalapeno (not El Ranchero) and everything was bland, dry or not the freshest. The best part was the salad components like the shredded lettuce, tomato and sour cream, but its hard to mess that up! My family and I ordered one chicken chimichanga, one beef burrito, one chicken taco and one shrimp quesadilla. The chicken in the chimichanga was tasteless. The queso was runny and sloppily applied, not thick, rich and custardy. The burrito and taco meal also came with rice, refried beans and salad. The salsa we were served with tortilla chips was also very liquidy and hot without much flavor beyond that. The refried beans were bland without even salt. We had to ask for avocados and guac, which the quac was also missing basic seasoning. We added salt and lime juice to accommodate. The chicken in the taco was extremely dry and had no authentic Mexican seasoning or spices. They brought the incorrect burrito and instead of beef it contained the same dry, tasteless chicken. The shrimp quesadilla was huge and not cut. I cut it myself and was surprised to see that there wasn't enough cheese to keep both sides closed. The shrimp was mildly flavored, but didn't taste fresh, but had a slightly grainy texture. The rice, chips and tortillas were average. The sweet tea tasted at least day-old, watery and wasn't very sweet. We really tried to find some highlights of the meal and experience to overlook the bad, but could not; we had already lost our appetites and were sullen. Our waitress was nice, but service was slow and she never returned to replace the first incorrect order. We later found out that the manager seated us and was totally content with seating every customer in very close proximity. We asked to sit further away to continue to comply with Covid-19 best practices. Every employee did have on masks including the manager. We noticed the queso had a hair in it and we sent it back earlier without judgment, but when we informed the manager of our lackluster experience we were flabbergasted to hear her tell us that it wasn't hair in the queso, but a piece of jalapeno string (ummm..ok...?). She also made excuses and never apologized for the poor food quality. We stated that we had come before and ordered some of the same food and enjoyed it. Unfortunately we had to tell her we did not feel like we should pay for the meals but gladly paid for the drinks and chips although that should have been on the house. Its very curious how some people will pay for any old Mexican food without fail with so many awesome options in the area. Jalepenos is not for me-I will not be returning. read more

OMG! I know Mexican food and tonight I had the best enchiladas I've had in a very long time. The sauce was so good and authentic. I got the enchiladas supreme and it came with guacamole, tomatoes, sour cream and a sauce to die for. I tend to judge a Mexican restaurant by their salsa and I was not disappointed, very good. I do not like giving bad reviews, so i'm going to give a decent one. Being fair, the best things I can say about this restaurant are that it is clean and has a decent atmosphere. The food is adequate at best, but I only got tacos (which on taco tuesday you have to BUY A DRINK to get the 1.65 tacos), and rice and beans. The portions are small, especially the sides. The food is averagely priced considering it is a local-owned family Mexican restaurant. Next time I will get quesadillas with an update but that is IF I come back. I'm not sure if everyone was having a bad night, but the people working that night were NOT FRIENDLY. Especially our waitress. Mi amiga that accompanied me said her waitress before (a different girl) was very rude also, but not as bad. It would be a hard to get a worse waitress than our waitress tonight, being honest. She was snappy and slow and we did not even come in super late so I am not sure what there was to be angry about. We would have to ask her to get anything we needed; refills on chips, drinks, salsa, and she even forgot my drink that I HAD to get to be able to get the cheap tacos. I mean those mistakes aren't a huge dealio but when it comes down to being hospitable and welcoming to your guests, she really was not. At all. Really, no one seemed happy we were there and we felt like a bother. And to think, they are so near-by to my friends, family, and I that they could've gotten a lot of business. I think we're going to stick with El Rincon and Pepes Bosque (my friends and family agree).
