This is just another ordinary Mexican restaurant but I'm giving them 5 stars for their reliability, service, and speed. I go here during my lunch break and my favorite is acapulco. I get seated right away most of the time and the service is quick and efficient. Chips and salsa are served almost immediately as I sit down, and a server follows right away to take orders. Good takes about five minutes and they never mess up anything, it's always accurate and quick so it's very convenient when I really have to go back to work in an hour. read more

A pretty 'typical' Mexican spot, colorful, upbeat and loud. Warning: The house margarita is awful. If you really like 'regular' margaritas just make sure you order a topshelf tequila. Although this place feels a little more cozy than our regular El Rodeo in Mooresville, I can't say I enjoyed it as much. Sure, we were seated promptly and brought out our beverages and complementary salsa/chips, but even those weren't as good. My wife likes a margarita and this one was served in a standard beverage glass. It wasn't as frozen, but did seem stronger in alcohol than she likes. The salsa and chips were okay (I can't complain too much since they were free), but the salsa seemed thin and with less flavor. My wife ordered a taco salad with chicken. It was fine. Not much better or worse. I ordered the Carne Asada tacos that come with beans and rice on the side. I noticed that the dish was served differently than I am used to. These were on an open rack already prepared with some small sauces and minced pickled veggies on the side. Our regular place serves the torillas wrapped in foil while the steak and veggies are served on a searing skillet that brings out the fond in the steak. This meat was dull in color and lacked flavor and became a bit rubbery from cooking at too low a heat level. It just wasn't as flavorful as our regular El Rodeo. The food was okay. The service from the kitchen was quick and the waitress didn't keep us waiting too long at any point. But I can't see coming back here when there is another El Rodeo that is closer to my home and that I consider my favorite place for Carne Asada tacos in the metro area. Review #3661 read more

This is a pretty basic faux-Mexican restaurant. It's tucked away in a strip mall near a big office complex so they have a lot of dinner and weekend specials to try to attract the non-work crowd. The food is pretty much what you would expect from an American Mexican restaurant in a strip mall: crunchy tacos with cheese and lettuce, burritos, enchiladas, queso, guacamole, refried beans, etc. Pretty nondescript, but tasted OK. I would never chose to come here, but the price is right and the service very fast (the food was on our table in under 10 minutes). Better than fast food, but by no means good. read more

Went for dinner and margaritas before our flight. We were seated immediately, given chips and salsa immediately and then sat, and waited, and waited and finally asked the host/manager if we had a server. Well, this manager came to our table, told us our server was busy, finally took our order and was totally in a bad mood. He wasn't pleasant, brought our pitcher and queso and practically threw it on the table. I tried to ask a question and he walked away ignoring us. Never asked if we needed anything and I felt like WE had done something to get him mad. I asked another server a question about the margaritas (didn't taste good) and he had the manager come out. He was rude once again, didn't try to help or offer alternatives and was STILL acting pissy! He ignored us the entire visit and I have never felt so uncomfortable. Fast, friendly, affordable, and pretty tasty! I ordered shrimp tacos, and the shrimp was cooked PERFECTLY! I couldn't have been more pleased with the shrimp itself. Coupled with that, the chips and salsa were served first, which I was pleased with since I went on any empty belly. The reason I went with 3 stars is because I ordered a strawberry daiquiri, but was brought a frozen drink with no taste. I knew it was strawberry because it was red, but other than that, there was no flavor. I disliked it so much I had to return it. Outside of that, the tacos were surprisingly mushy. I was pretty confused by the consistency, so I ate most of it with a fork. I think it may have been the oil from the tacos? Although the food wasn't perfect, the nice decor and friendly staff will definitely bring me back to try some other items on the menu. Stopped here for lunch today with my co workers. It was very busy as it was taco Tuesday but we had no issues getting a table. Service was fast and the food was great. Even had leftovers to eat for dinner. I ordered chicken fajitas and they were fabulous. Everyone cleaned their plates. I didn't eat the chips and salsa but my co workers indulged, and they looked great and fresh. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Will return on my next trip to town! read more

The food is pretty good. The standard Mexican food you would expect around this area. It's not my favorite one in town but it is pretty good. The food came out fresh and tasted good. They had decent specials with pretty good discounts. We tried their fajita skillet for two with beef, chicken and shrimp and it all tasted really good. The beef wasn't chewy and the the chicken was tender. Their pico de gallo has a kick to it! It was a lot of meat for a good price. Service as meh - our waiter didn't really have a personality, no smile or anything. When we got up to pay the check at the counter we had to wait for awhile and another customer actually came and was waiting behind us to pay as well. It wasn't that busy, but they seemed low on staff as everyone was jumping in and out of the kitchen. read more

I have enjoyed the food at this restaurant for years. The salsa is amazing and the wait staff is very quick to seat you. The last time I went in I noticed they charged me 3.49 for cheese, clearly we didn't get the cheese. I personally think it was a way to get an extra tip. I always tip very well, but this game made me very uncomfortable and I didn't tip as much as I normally do. Please pay attention to your receipt, some wait staff will try and take advantage. read more

I use to go to the El Rodeo in Avon, and that turned to crap months ago. Accidentally, drove by this location a few weeks ago so.I decided to give it a try. It was absolutely delicious!! Great flavored food and service. The El Maya sauce is amazing. It's located in industrial area so they said they get really busy for lunch. I well definitely go back. By the way the steak is very tender and has alot of flavor. I guess it depends on which management is running the location. read more

I've actually eaten here a number of times over the years. Its always been mediocre at best. However, I took my family here during lunch on a Friday. This place has really gone down hill. I ordered a lunch plate. Burrito, enchilada, rice and beans. The portions were very small. (Ridiculously small. The rice and beans were the highlight of the meal. The burrito and enchilada had exactly the same bland ground beef filling with little to no topping. Washed it down with one of the skinny margaritas, but it couldn't wash the bad taste out of my mouth. As for ambiance... there was a large herd of obnoxious construction workers who seemed to be great friends of the staff. One spent most of his time with his elbow in the air pointing to his armpit. Another pulling at the side of his open overalls to show how much of his underwear were showing. Eat at your own risk in this place. read more

El Rodeo is a decent Mexican restaurant with very little to elevate it above the crowd of Mexican restaurants on the southwest side. The food is good, the service is good, but nothing special. I would urge anyone who wants a good burrito or tamale to go find somewhere more authentic (and maybe a little more of a dive). One of my favorite places for Mexican food. The staff is really friendly, they will most likely remember you after you come in a few times. The place is pretty clean, and it can get really busy at times. At the cash register they have a bar of candies which is cute for the kiddies after dinner! The food is great - they have some of the best gaucamole I have had in a restraunt.. but beware - sometimes they will give you a bowl of guacamole which is around $4 if you ask for a small side of it. So make sure you really specify what you want. Other than that they are awesome - and they usually have tons of coupons in the papers and mailers. My favorite things are the Enchiladas Tipicas and the Burrito Loco which is huge. The portions they are quite generous, and the meals are usually around the $10-15 area. read more

This is the last time I will go to this restaurant. My wife and I have been trying to support this restaurant for many years but it keeps getting worse. There problem has nothing to do with covid. We have gone there for several weeks now since they reopened but can't seem to get a frozen margarita. Tonight the waitress said that they were frozen but they weren't. We ordered a second one and asked for it to be frozen and see got an attitude and took our menu and walked off. Brought our second one and it was worse than the first one. She didn't come back to take our food order. She finally brought our check without saying anything. We went to taco bell for food. We will never go back. Supported them for over 20 years. read more

It's one of the few decent Mexican restaurants in Decatur Township, so if you are out that way, it is a definite winner. read more

My favorite Mexican restaurant on this side of town (compared to the one down the road), but really nothing spectacular compared to others. Their food is good and it always comes out quickly. It's a good place to eat when you are in a time crunch but want to go sit down. Fairly decent service -- the workers aren't always the nicest. They definitely aren't rude, they just seem like they're in a rush and never really take the time to make you feel that welcome or joke around. But they do their job well in terms of getting the orders out correctly and quickly. They have good prices with very affordable specials. On Wednesdays they have $1.99 mini margaritas -- which are actually bigger than you would expect a 'mini' to be. Still small but it's a great price. I wouldn't drive out of the way for this place but I definitely enjoy it when I'm nearby. read more

We visited here on vacation after having a Mexican craving. We found the food to be on par with other Mexican restaurants we have visited. I ordered a peach margarita on the rocks and it was very strong. My fiancé ordered a virgin strawberry daiquiri and it was average for him. I ordered the Pablos burrito and thought it was lacking in chorizo flavor. I actually couldn't taste any. He ordered the number 18 combo and said it's what he expected.
