We've been here a few times now and have gotten to try a few menu items. Overall, the food is pretty good and it's a reasonable price considering the area. We always enjoy our time here, are treated warmly, and leave feeling full. My partner recommends the chipotle chicken enchiladas, and I'd say any of the entree plates are good. I did try the taquitos with shredded chicken and can say that the beef probably would've been better. The shredded chicken just didn't hold up to other items here. My only other complaint is the salsa. It's thin with no chunks and its flavor is inconsistent. One night it tasted more like tomato sauce than salsa. Super big disappointment for me, as my favorite part of going to Mexican is the chips and salsa, but the place overall is still pretty good. If you need a good lunch or dinner while in the area, give this place a stop. read more

We had a late dinner here last week and it was OK. Not great but passable. I ordered the Street Tacos. Chorizo. It's served with rice and beans. My husband ordered the Stuffed Poblano. Most everything tasted like it came from a can. Including the complimentary chips & salsa. The chorizo tacos were ok. Not like you'd get at an authentic taco truck but passable. Pretty good service at the very end of our meal we cannot find our server to get our bill but that's OK. Also had to remind them. They do have happy hour prices, uncertain things, and had to make sure the bill was correct. My husband had a chimichanga and he really liked it. I had a nachos and there was a ton of chicken on it. Met a friend here for lunch on 6/7. We were seated immediately. Chips and salsa were on the table within 30 seconds. The server was pleasant and took our drink orders. Beer was cold. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak burrito with chicken. My friend got the same thing with steak. The food was out in less than 10 minutes. It looked great and was fresh. I'd order it again, for sure. I have no complaint about the food or the service both are great but, I specifically came in for lunch and ask if they still had their lunch margarita. I was told absolutely so I ordered two they were very small 12 ounce and when I got my bill, they were $8.49 apiece. When I questioned the price, the server explained that their prices had gone up but we're not on the menu. Which I think is very wrong. I'm a senior on Social Security and it is a treat to be able to go and have lunch..... however I will not come back here due to price increase and being misled about their " lunch" margaritas.... My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch - early dinner today, Saturday 20 July. I forgot to check in while we were sitting there however, I still wanted to put in a review and the pictures of our meal. Fairly dead at 2:30 PM; however, thought our beverages and food were very good. We open with margaritas. An ultimate margarita for me and the happy hour jumbo margarita for my wife. We were truly surprised and how decorative they were, complete with rubber ducks and flashing bulbs. We added a order of guacamole with the complementary chips and salsa. Though I've had better salsa. This wasn't too bad. The guacamole was spot on. My wife went with their 3 inch chicken enchilada dinner with all rice while I decided on the Tres Del Mar. our meals came out relatively quickly. My wife's enchiladas were huge filled with large amounts of shredded chicken breast. My dish was amazing with grilled tilapia, shrimp with pico de gallo, and sautéed lobster chunks. Absolutely delicious! The place was starting to fill up by the time we were leaving. The restaurant itself was well kept and clean and my wife noted the ladies room was kept up as well. read more

A serious disappointment in Eastgate area. The service was abysmal. Our waitress didn't seem to know anything about the menu or much of anything. I'm pretty lenient but this was awful. We had to ask three times to get water for four people. She brought out one glass, got offered when we asked for water for everyone and brought a second glass then we had to track down someone else to get two more glasses. We had ordered a margarita sampler for the table (definitely get this with a group). There are almost no vegetarian options which is surprising for Mexican cuisine. We asked for guacamole for the table and got a small cup of plain avocado. When we questioned this she tried to say it was guacamole. Umm...no. You have to ask for rice, etc in addition to most plates (extra charges) which again is very unusual for Mexican restaurants. A hard pass for us. read more

The margarita sampler was a bit spendy but good ($40 for 5). Chips and salsa brought quick to the table, but had to ask for guacamole. The server brought something she called guac salad that was just avocado mashed up. When she brought actual guac it was okay enough tho with four of us, some plates would be nice. Our entrees came quick but all could have used a little more salt ... and none of the tables had salt or paper on them. Stopped by for lunch with a friend on a Wednesday, we were both wanting to sit outside and enjoy the early spring weather, so we enjoyed our lunch outside on their patio to ourselves, no one else was sitting outside. Our waiter welcomed us, gave us menus and brought out chips & salsa. Their salsa is some of the wateriest (is that even a word) salsa it was so runny like water, it seemed like they watered it down. I enjoy some thick, chunky salsa with any Mexican restaurant I visit. My friend selected the chimichanga lunch special with one chimichanga, rice and guac salad, she enjoyed her meal. I went with the cheese steak burrito with rice and beans. My burrito was just the right size for lunch and was delicious with grilled veggies. The rice was seasoned well and beans were fine. Then we went to leave and couldn't get an answer if our waiter was to come get our checks or to take to the counter, as we were on the patio and the only ones there. The only issue was the service- our server was very short, and never cracked a smile. I'm a born and raise Cincinnatian, therefore I have absolutely no credentials on where to get authentic Mexican food. It's doubtful that's even an option in the Queen City. However, we have a plethora of tex-Mex options to please the palate. My personal favorite is El Rancho Grande. I've never had a bad meal here. I don't know where the original El Rancho Grande is, but I think they have ten or so locations around the tri-state now. That's a huge testament to their popularity on quality. I typically frequent the Eastgate location. As with most Tex-Mex restaurants, they start you with chips and salsa. Nothing fancy, but in the words of my father, "if it's free, it's for me!" I usually order a queso and and a guacamole because dip mixing is not frowned upon in my family. The menu is large but I almost always stick to the Del Mar Trio or fajitas. The portions are ridiculously large. Last night, my sister and I shared the Fajitas Texanas for two - but it easily could have fed my entire family. The prices have gone up considerably since I first started coming here, but that's understandable. (I've been consistently visiting El Rancho Grande for 10+ years.) The service is also A+. Everyone is super friendly and will make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your food. El Rancho Grande is always a good choice for a meal! read more

The food isn't bad but the service is horrible. My husband picked up our to go order and was charged for someone else's meal as well as our own (over $100) but they only gave us a receipt for the first charge not the second. The also gave us the wrong food. When I called to report the issue the person I spoke with wasn't able to speak in English and kept trying to take an order from me, they finally put the manager on who was also of no help. He was argumentative and rude, he accused me of lying when I told him the food was wrong, he said he packed the bags himself. I explained the situation with the double charging and he again was argumentative and made it very clear he thought I was lying. He said we could get a refund but then he started to raise his voice and told me we had to bring the food back with the receipt. I again explained they never gave us a receipt and he again accused me of lying saying he gave the receipt to my husband. This is a dishonest business, I'm pretty sure the employees just stole $100 from me, they claim they voided the transaction but the funds have not yet returned to my account, any other time I've had a pending charge voided it was returned immediately. I'm not sure if there is a corporate office which can be contacted but that is my next step. Avoid this place at all cost! I'm going to do a charge back with my bank if the pending charge isn't reversed or goes through as an actual charge. read more

So I love this chain, been to this and many other locations multiple times. Amazing food, amazing drinks, they are usually on point with everything. This trip we had a kind of rude waiter. Never filled up my water, was pretty stand off-ish like he never wanted to ask if we needed anything. When we did he made me nervous to ask to not upset him. Food was great, came out fast, my jalapeño marg was amazing, just an uncomfortable feel to the place. I got a shrimp dinner and my boyfriend got a steak fajita. I was a tad jealous of his but mine was still delicious. Came out almost faster then my margarita! Ok, so don't waste your money on upgrading to a Texas Margarita. They give you the same as the premix margarita and then call it Premium. When asking for the Grand Mariner to be added to the drink you expected it to be in and it does not even cut the taste of the cheap tequila they put in... time to dump it out. Oh, really loved the watered down salsa. It tasted like a watered down V8. They cut too many corners and I will never be back. we had lunch there yesterday, took forever to be seated (they weren't busy) then it took forever to have our order taken, and forever for it to be brought out. the staff were rude, chatting loudly, standing around when we were waiting to be seated and again when we were waiting for our waiter to come over. clearly they didn't care. food finally came out and it was disgusting, covered in grease. we honestly wanted a refund but the staff were so rude it didn't seem worth it. we asked for them to replace the queso and we could hear the manager talking about us. we ended up paying and leaving to eat somewhere else. I was here on a school field trip (Spanish field trip) and the service was TERRIBLE. We arrived at noon and we didn't receive our food until 1:30. Our server had no idea about their menu and we had to ask for my friend's water several times. Some of my other friend's orders ended up being wrong and we ordered IN SPANISH. Our waiter barely spoke English and struggled when we tried to speak to him, you would think speaking to him in his first language would help, but NO. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place, PLEASE go somewhere else. I would try Mi Camino Real in Mt. Orab. We've been going to this restaurant for years. Even during Covid shut down we got carry out from here. But the last two trips have not been worth going in for and last night might be our last time. I always get their Burrito Special. The last visit time we were there I notice it was skinnier. Last night it was skinnier and with a lot less chicken. But the thing that sealed it for us and might cause us not to go back is they never brought out my husband's meal. They weren't busy. Yes it was 6 pm and yes it was Valentine's Day. But I've seen it way busier on a Saturday than that. I got my meal and the guy just layered it down and left. Most times they tell you plate is hot and ask do you need anything else but he left without saying a word. So we of course assumed it was because he was going back to get my husband's meal. Well after a few minutes I went ahead and started eating mine. And NO ONE not even our waitress came to check on us. Then when I had one bite left she came over and asked did you not get your meal? We said no and she said I'll go get it. Now I'm done with my meal and a few minutes more she comes back and said it'll be right up. My husband said never mind now bring us the check. I looked it over to make sure no charges for his meal and there wasn't. But she didn't apologize and no manager came out b to say " hey we're sorry, we'll take her dinner off too. Or anything. A New Mexican restaurant is going to open in Williamsburg and I hope it's good. El Ranchi Grande won't be lasting much longer with service and food like that. read more

They also have coupons in the Reach magazine and Entertainment book. I am a fan of their fajitas as well as their pot of meat and veggies. They have a specific name that I can't recall. My family has had cheese and meat enchiladas. No complaints. Margaritas are also very good. It is usually pretty crowded which shows they are consistent and good.
