When I lived in LA I used to live a couple of miles away from El Pollo Loco and when my brother visited me often from Washington State, it was to get El Pollo Loco. Now that I also live in Washington State, I now understand the craving. I was looking for an In n Out because that's another one of my faves that I can't get up north, but when saw El Pollo Loco in the same parking lot, it was over because we got an In n Out in Portland at least but there's no El Pollo Loco in the PNW and I had to be strategic about stomach space. so gladd I went with EPC because that citrus marinated, salty grilled chicken was as heavenly as ever. The Mac and Cheese is some of the best mac n cheese's around, laden with tons of cheddar sauce it's so good. Love finding the EPC, but the one thing I didn't like is that they shut down the salsa bar a couple of hours before closing. sorry, but that's too early. Of course they gae us little containers of the sauces, but I'd rather spoon it out for myself. Also the staff is in a fog. They did nothing wrong, but they were definitely clock watching at the time so they had no f's to give when it came to greeting or seeming engaged with the customer. Oh well. Last night I ordered a family feast with 8 pieces of mixed chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, rice, beans, churros and flan. Some of the chicken pieces were so small despite paying extra for the mixed chicken and the pieces were burnt which ruined the flavor of the chicken. My family and I have ate at this location multiple times so this 2 star review is more so for their online service. I do not recommend ordering from here using a delivery service. I placed my order via El Pollo Loco website & received confirmation that the delivery would be withing 30 minutes via postmates. Unfortunately the order wasnt picked up for 2 hours and once it was picked up by a driver the items never arrived and were instantly marked as delivered. El pollo also claimed that two drivers came in to get the order which indicates an issue with the online service. Either way we never received the food and was charged. When ordering on line you have the option to pick up or have delivery. When being delivered the order will either be processed by postmates or grubhub. You do not need to have their apps either to take advantage of this . Once the order is placed online and given to the driver el pollo is no longer responsible. Since the order was placed online via El Pollo website the assigned delivery agency is not responsible either . This was very unfortunate because i placed this order for a family member whose immune system is compromised (during covid 19 quarantine). Not only is this person not able to leave the house but they never received their food. Neither postmates or el pollo loco will take responsible for this mishap. Our only option is to dispute the charges with our bank. I have attached screen shots of the delivery as you can see the pictures were taken 1 minutes apart. I ordered a chicken tostada org which cost 12.$$ it was the worst for the money. the chicken was tasteless and only had 5 small qubes, about 10 smalll pinto beans , I think I had to dig really hard to find .the lettuces was brown on the edges , but not all. it's was so disgusting to eat. the shell was the only thing decent to eat what a waste I didn't even bother to call and waste my time to complain. This location has fresh food and is spotless, I appreciate the service as it is very thorough. They always get my order correct even when I make it complicated, also they seem to be a friendly bunch. Came here for the holiday tamale bowls. I got the two pieces of chicken combo with tamale over rice and beans. While the chicken and rice tasted fine, the tamale was dry. It felt like putting the death valley desert on a hot summer day into my mouth. The are traces of some kind of sauce on top of the tamale but it was so dried, it sprinkle into dust when I blew into it. Overall the tamale bowl experience reminded me of the California drought we went through where everyone had to let their lawn die to conserve water. I don't eat fast food normally, but when I do I try choose options that are somewhat healthy. El Pollo Loco is easy to order online and by the time I drive there from my job, it's ready to go. I like how they detail the nutritional facts and have lower calorie or low carb meals. I've had the taco lunch platters, but really love the double chicken avocado salad and the shrimp avocado salad - both only 380 calories. The Under 500 calorie menu is my favorite, but Lindora's "Lean for Life" menu is also great for selecting low calorie options. Since I'm watching my calories, these options and the others that they have - make eating out reasonable, when normally it's not. Not everything is healthy here, they have several items that are high in calories, fat or sodium - but at least you are aware of it and can get what you want. This is not at all authentic Mexican food, but pretty decent fast food. read more
