Quesabirria order, comes with 3 tacos and side of consomé
    Jessica G.

Tried them for the second time and not my favorite for quesabirria or tacos in general. I feel bad to rate them so low given their customer service is excellent but the quesabirria is lacking on a lot of levels. First, the flavor, or lack there of. Meat was tender (the second time I tried it) but there was absolutely no seasoning, no flavor at all. Tortilla while nice and crispy doesn't seem to have been dipped in the consomé before crisping up the tortilla. Not enough cheese either. Consomé also lacked any richness, very watered down.

I tried OG Tacos 5 years ago, and have been trying to find a quessabirria taco that can even come close, and I can't. These are hands down the best tacos I've ever had, and if you haven't tried them, they'll be the best tacos you've ever had. What sets OG Tacos apart, is their consistency in texture of meat and loads of cheese, plus the best sauces make it a hit! I eat these about once a week from the Antioch Flea Market since I just live down the street.

I'm almost hesitant to write this review as this place already has lines longer than a Disneyland ride during its busiest times. However, I must do it for the benefit of the foodie community. Simply put: OG tacos were some of the first players on the quesabirria trend and are the only people to have perfected it. Let me paint you a story of how they're ahead of everyone else in the birria game. It first started as quesabirria tacos. It was the only place to succesfully achieve all 3 major marks of a perfect quesabirria taco experience: the crunchy outer shell, the juicy beef, and the exemplary consome dipping soup. Then the mad lads created the quesabirria quesadillas and slapped them on their secret menu. How could they have been so unorthodox, yet so pioneering and innovative. Next came the birria burritos. How they kept shoving birria in different forms was sign of a true birria king. However, it all changed when along came the Tapatio birria ramen. If heaven existed on earth, it lives right next to Epidemic Ales because good lord is the food truly amazing here. So if you're thinking about going to other places for quesabirria (e.g., el fuego, tacos el patron, la santa torta, el garaje, la grana fish, aguachiles el tamarindo), I'd tell you to STOP right what you're doing, put down the Yelp app you're using for research, and head straight to Los Originales (only available Monday, Friday, and Saturday, sigh).

Review is for the food only. My family member picked up/paid for the meal. This was my first birria taco experience and it set the bar high. We got the consumè with tacos and it is a winning combo. It was even good with the green and red salsa they had. One of the best meals and so inexpensive. Highly recommend. Whole family was raving about it and we will definitely continue to support this place. I would go out of my way to get these tacos, that's how impressed we were.

The quesabirria craze has hit the San Francisco Bay Area!!! It's the latest food trend and all the rage. Happy Taco Times!
    Lori N.

Food fads come and go in the San Francisco Bay Area. Remember cronuts, charcoal buns and now the fried chicken sandwich, mochi doughnuts, and ramen craze? Well, you can add quesabirrias to the list now! Although these tacos are the latest popular food trend here, they've actually been around for a long time. These tacos originated from the Tijuana area, and have long been popular in SoCal. I don't know what took them so long to gain popularity up North, or how long this food craze will last, but it's here! After hearing about these Tijuana-style tacos and hearing great things about Los Originales, I knew this is where I wanted my virgin tongue to taste these tacos for the very first time. Just expect to wait a very long time. After standing in a long line and finally placing my order, I was told that the wait to get my tacos would be somewhere between 45 minutes to an hour. They were ready in about 45 minutes. Still a long wait for tacos, IMO. I'm just glad I was actually able to get my tacos in the knick of time because halfway into devouring them, they had to close their stand once the winds started howling and the rain started coming down like crazy. They refunded everyone who hadn't yet received their order, and there were a lot of people in this category. It got a bit crazy, but this was totally beyond their control. I was actually glad to see that they prioritized safety above profit because hot cooking grease and a hot griddle under a tent set-up outside makes for a dangerous combination with strong winds and rain. The tacos are made with two tortillas filled with cheese and birria, a stewed-like meat, similar in preparation to barbacoa. You can get them with or without the cheese. A customer behind me said she was a regular and orders at least 40 tacos to-go each time for her family. She told me I just had to get them with cheese, and I really really love cheese beyond belief, so it was a no-brainer. Within a second, my perpetual indecisiveness disappeared, and I got all four of mine with cheese. The tacos are definitely tasty and delicious with the stewed meat. No doubt about that, especially with all the extra added condiments. However, just know that they are very greasy and when I picked it up, grease started dripping out immediately. These are filled with a lot of cheese, almost maybe a tad too much, making it a bit difficult to distinguish the birria. This is coming from someone who will smother cheese on anything and everything she can. Immediately, my fingers were smothered in the grease seeping through both tortillas. However, that didn't stop me from polishing off all four of them by myself! The real problem though was that these tacos didn't hold up so well, even within a short amount of time. They told me my order would be ready within 45 minutes to an hour, so I went back about 50-55 minutes later to check up on it, only to find that my tacos had already been made and were just sitting out. Because the tacos sat out for about 5-10 minutes before I got them, they were already a tad cold. The very first one I ate was still crunchy and had cheese that was still warm, but the remaining three had cheese that had already solidified and lost their stretchy cheesy pull. Unfortunately, sitting out and also being placed one on top of another also caused the tortillas to loose most of their crunch. I'd strongly suggest trying to get them right when they're ready so you can enjoy them at their "peak". Or maybe they could hand out buzzers so that customers know exactly when they need to retrieve their tacos. Included with your order will be an accompanying consomme which can be used for dipping your taco into. Personally, I couldn't really taste it much when I used it for dipping, and it just seemed to make my tacos soggy. For me, it was so tasty that I preferred just taking sips of it. I really like the self-serve condiment bar, where you can add on as much chopped cilantro, red onions, radishes and lime wedges your taco-loving heart desires. I don't think these tacos would nearly be as tasty without these added fresh toppings though. If you've never had a quesabirria, this is worth trying. Try something you've never had!Sometimes it's good to allow your FOMO to overtake you. I personally prefer traditional street tacos, but I'd go for these whenever I'm having a serious "go-all-out" taco craving. Heads Up: Los Originales will be making their San Francisco debut at the super popular Off The Grid at the Salesforce Tower in December. If you want to discover food trends, look no further than an Off the Grid!

    Quesabirrias in the making

Seeing them on Instagram, my husband has been eyeing them since. We forgot all about it until my bestfriend asked us to go on a Saturday. They are located inside the fairgrounds. 9am the line is already long. Around 10:30 it died down after we were done eating. Lines moved a little slow but when you get your food, it just feels like everything goes by quick. They had 3 tables and maybe 6 chairs each. The 1st 30 minutes if you don't have a table you'll be eating your food standing up. By the time we got our food, we ended up getting a full table which was nice. We got to enjoy our food. We ordered 9 Quesabirrias (large corn crispy tortilla w/ cheese & birria) it wasn't so crispy but it tasted okay, 2 tacos Dorado (it's like quesabirria with no cheese on the inside, consome con carne (birria broth w/ meat) you can dip your tacos in. My best friend got their keto tacos (no tortillas but they used cheese for the shell). They have 2 kinds of salsas (green & orange). Both versions had mild and spicy. The orange is better but it was extra spicy. My family loved the extra spicy orange sauce. They have a table for their sauces and utensils right next to them. It has the 4 salsas, pickled vegetables (which was spicy too but so goo) radish, onions, cilantro & limes. You put all the condiments yourself. When it got messy, they cleaned it up quick and they refilled it. The only thing I didn't like was they were being stingy giving sauce containers. After spending $45 here they only gave us 5 plastic containers for the sauce. They won't give you anymore if you ask for extra to put your onions, cilantro & pickled veggies. I guess they want you to put it with your tacos. Uuumm other people do not want their food soggy. Maybe next time I try them, they'll be more generous with their containers

I've been wanting to try quesabirrias, and stumbled upon OGTacos at the Off The Grid Emperor Norton's Holiday Bazaar at the Salesforce Transit Center back in December. The bazaar had just opened and after checking out all the stands, this was the one consistently with people in line. They asked me if I wanted a cup of consomé on the side, which I found out was free, so I said sure, not knowing what it was. Their quesabirria consists of a double layer of tortillas fried extra crunchy with beef and cheese inside, and of course was very tasty. At first I dipped the quesabirria into the meatless consomé, and found that the broth was good and not too salty so I ended up drinking the rest of the broth. I later read that the owners intended for customers to drink the broth.

The best birria quesadilla, vampiro and birria tacos I have ever had in the Bay Area. It's definitely worth the drive, wait and cost. Portion sizes are huge and we've never been able to finish an entire meal.

I always get excited when we get to have OG tacos. They are so flavorful, the consume makes them even more savory, and their red/orange salsa is so spicy but delicious. I recently tried their keto tacos (was trying to have a lower carb day) and they were just as tasty, obviously lacking that bready taste from the tortilla but still delicious and filling. There is definitely a reason the line is always so long for these or in the case of quarantine, a reason they sell out so fast. I think their exclusivity makes them even more sought after.

It was packed with flavorful, juicy meat and had the ideal ratio of beans, rice, and cheese -- every bite was balanced and satisfying. No skimpy filling here. Just a beautifully built burrito done right. The chips and guacamole were just as impressive. The chips came out hot, thin, and perfectly fresh -- that light crisp that shatters just right. The guacamole tasted bright and fresh, clearly made with care and real ingredients. We also tried the pastor torta, and wow. It was loaded with tender, well-seasoned meat, and the bread was soft, fresh, and toasted perfectly. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside -- exactly how a torta should be. Every component worked together so well. And the piña agua fresca? Super fresh and refreshing -- the perfect complement to everything we ordered. We come here often, but this time we switched it up and tried the burrito -- and it did not disappoint. This is easily one of the best taquerias in town. Consistently delicious, generous portions, and clearly made with pride. We'll definitely be back (soon!) to try the quesabirria. So grateful to have a spot like this in town.

Thank God for another meal, because this place definitely did not serve one made with care…read more The experience started off confusing before we even got the food. We pulled up around 12:50, and the sign on the door said closed, while the lighted sign said open. Mixed signals right away. We literally had to call just to find out if anyone was even there. I ordered a super burrito wet, half green and half red sauce. I was told what it came with, but when I got the food, key ingredients were missing. No real sour cream, no proper pico de gallo, and barely anything that made it feel like an actual super burrito. I also ordered another super burrito and asked for ranchero meat, because that is clearly something they sell there. If you sell ranchero tacos, then obviously ranchero meat exists in your kitchen and should be an option in a burrito too. Instead, the burrito came in a box looking like they already knew it wasn't put together right. When I got home and opened it, I was honestly disappointed. The photos speak for themselves. This was not a super burrito. It was a sloppy tortilla overloaded with rice and meat, with almost nothing else inside to balance it out. No beans, barely any vegetables, no real pico, and no care in the way it was made. It looked like somebody just stuffed whatever was easiest in there and called it done. And before anyone tries to say I didn't ask for certain things, you can literally see tiny pieces of tomato in there, which shows some kind of veggie mix was supposed to be part of it. But overall, it was still mostly just rice and meat. That is not what people expect when they order a super burrito. The wet burrito was just as bad presentation-wise. It should have been smothered properly, with that melty, flavorful, put-together look. Instead, it looked rushed, sloppy, and halfway done. Even the cheese on top looked like it was thrown on without any effort. This whole meal felt like it was made with no pride. Confusing service, missing ingredients, weak execution, and burritos that looked more like a struggle meal than something worth paying for. Grateful to have food, always. But I would not come back for this. Here's a shorter, sharper Yelp version too: Pulled up around 12:50 and the sign said closed, but the open light was on. We had to call just to see if anyone was there. That should've been the first warning. Ordered a wet super burrito, half green and half red, and another super burrito with ranchero meat. What I got was a sloppy mess. The photos speak for themselves. These were not super burritos -- they were mostly rice and meat stuffed into a tortilla with missing ingredients and no care. No real pico de gallo, no beans, barely any balance, and the wet burrito looked rushed and poorly finished. The cheese on top looked thrown on, not melted and smothered the way it should be. One burrito even came in a box looking like it had already fallen apart. If you sell ranchero tacos, then ranchero should clearly be available as burrito meat too. No excuse there. The places was alone for it to be lunch hour . Not a lot of people Overall, this food looked and tasted like it was made with no pride. Grateful for the meal, but definitely not worth the money.

***** PLEASE READ BEFORE EATING HERE *****…read more I normally do not leave Yelp reviews unless an experience is truly bad, but after today I felt people should know before spending their money here. I chose Guadalajara because I had previously tried their food truck at an event and really enjoyed the food. For Mother's Day, my 17-year-old son wanted to do something nice for me and took me there with my other kid and my mother. Unfortunately, the experience was awful from the moment we walked in. The restaurant was completely dead with barely any customers, and the woman working the front register looked irritated that we were even there. She was unfriendly, rude, rushed us while ordering, and made us feel like we were bothering her the entire time. While ordering, we noticed there were no cooks in the kitchen. After we placed our order, she told us they were "running behind" because there were no cooks available. She also got part of our order wrong, specifically the type of meat we requested. When we politely questioned it after seeing the receipt, she immediately became defensive and insisted we ordered it that way, which we absolutely did not. She eventually said she would fix it before the food came out. The problems continued after that. The bathroom had no toilet paper, there were no napkins or utensils available anywhere in the restaurant, and every time we had to ask her for something she acted irritated and inconvenienced. When my food finally arrived, it was extremely spicy. When I asked why, she claimed I had personally requested it extra spicy, which never happened. At that point it became obvious she had rushed through our order and was not listening to anything we were actually asking for. The atmosphere felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming the entire time. My mother even went to get napkins from the car because she did not want to "bother" the cashier again due to how rude she was acting. I felt terrible because my son had good intentions bringing me here for Mother's Day, and he honestly felt bad afterward for recommending the restaurant. I appreciated his thoughtfulness, but sadly this experience completely ruined what should have been a nice family meal. I will never return here, and I would never recommend this place to anyone. Whether this woman is the owner, a family member, or an employee, management needs to understand that this level of customer service drives people away. Word of mouth matters, and customer service can absolutely ruin a restaurant no matter how good the food may once have been. One star.
