I and my wife ate dinner here. We used a coupon for a chicken meal for two, which included 2 side salads, 2 small side dishes, 2 chicken legs, 2 chicken thighs, (limited-time) mango habanero sauce for the chicken, 2 salsas, warm flour tortillas, and 2 churros. For those side dishes, I asked for corn, but my wife couldn't decide between either rice or beans, so the manager kindly surprised us with all three items. Everything was both fresh and tasty, especially the mango habanero sauce---the chicken was tender, the corn was flavorful, the rice and beans were great, the tortillas were soft and perfect, and the churros were so tasty. We were both very satisfied with our food, including its variety. And the ambiance wasn't stunning but was satisfactory---no complaints whatsoever. We were especially impressed with how the manager was so friendly and kind and generous. I ate here once or twice before and felt very happy with everything that I received on those occasions also. I'd love to eat here more often. read more

A once great franchise brought low by Ebenezer Scrooge levels of cost-cutting. First the salsa bar taken out, then the horchata in the lobby removed, then the fried chicken tacos for $2 taken off the menu, now there's apparently no chicken in the "classic chicken" burritos. I love a good El Pollo Loco. My favorite meal is the Original Pollo Bowl Fire Combo. It's 5.99, comes with chips and a drink. I recommend getting some of the cilantro salad dressing and the avocado salsa. Then you eat the chips by dipping into the bowl. It's a great meal and so cheap. It also feels very healthy. They have $6 meal deals with nachos, burrito bowls and chicken plates. Seasonal items like the Birria options (stuffed quesadilla is amazing) and Baja Shrimp tacos. On Tuesdays they have a leg and thigh combo (without drink) for $4.32 which is like the best price ever! I always get the corn and rice as my sides. Then you just pick all the chicken off the bone and make some tacos with the tortillas and salsa. I always get the Pico and avocado salas. It is such a great little meal and the chicken is flavorful and juicy. Making it the way I do makes it all taste amazing. You really can't go wrong with this option and it is pretty filing! I was looking forward to hitting LPL as I had not had the opportunity to enjoy the great food until last living in western Texas. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. My chicken was dry and hard could barely tell the difference between the bones and the meat. Insanely overpriced. Payed $10.06 for a small burrito that fits in my hand. It's not like they have the highest quality either as it's just basic fast food, so they're overcharging like crazy. Something like this should maybe be $5-6. $9 is a nice burrito from cafe rio, chipotle, or costa vida that's double or triple the portion of this. Wouldn't recommend this place as the cost doesn't add up to the return of food. Would be a solid spot if prices were a lot less. They don't deserve to charge what they do. read more

Usually people here are really nice and helpful, but My wife stopped by today and they missed 3 things on our order: a burrito and 2 drinks. When my wife tried to address the problem, The person helping her got visibly mad, then didn't get all the missing items. She had to walk in again to address the problem and get the other drink. I understand that sometimes mistakes are made, but there is not reason a worker should be that rude when HE made the mistake, not my wife who is paying. I hope they can fix this and provide better training to their employees to not get so mad over something small. read more

I've been to the one in Lehi a couple times. It is far better than the normal fast food chain. I think it's better than any of those fast casual places like Costa Vida and Cafe Rio. It's not all about sugar. If you get drive through, it can almost replace carry out from the actual sit down Mexican places. Almost. That said, it's nice to have a place that is a fast food place with food near the quality of the street taco type places. Sometime, you just want drive through. Am I right? Mexican has only been an option because I like a couple items at Del Taco. Taco Bell and Taco Time have never been options. The chicken pieces are usually pretty will done. Especially the dark meat since that can't be dried out easily. The beans and rice aren't great, but they aren't awful either. El Pollo Loco is pretty well priced, but the true worth for the money comes from using their fabulous deals through the app. If you're not using rewards points and taking advantage of their coupons and freebies, you're missing out on a LOT of inexpensive meals and free food. Their menu has a lot bigger variety of foods than other similar mexican fast food places, such as their mac&cheese (VERY cheesy, very yummy) and having avacado as a main ingredient in the tacos or burritos (an excellent choice). Horrible service and lame food. Drive thru agent was impatient and very judgmental to my figuring out my order (it was my first time, so I asked a few questions about the menu). Then when I paid with my CC, they let the card sit in the reader for honestly 5 minutes while it was beeping the loudest, most annoying sound to be removed. I love el pollo loco! It's so underrated around here. Their $5 lunch deals can't be beat. I'm picky about chicken but they've really mastered it. With fast food I'm always a little skeptical about what goes on in the preparation of my food -- the cleanliness, etc. -- but I trust el pollo loco is giving me fresh ingredients in my food and preparing it correctly. I used to love this in LA and it's been just okay here in Orem. They don't give you house salsa with your meals unless you ask for it and EVEN then when you ask for it, they FORGET to give it to you. The corn tortillas fall apart and the chicken portions have been drastically reduced. Maybe it's now organic chicken, but I doubt it or else they would be marketing that. Pleasantly surprised with this find. The chicken is really good! It's like a classic Mexican restaurant with the twist of fresh roasted chicken. I tried one of the tostada salads, and a taco or two of different varieties. I really enjoyed the flavor! The chicken is seasoned well and has that "just roasted over a flame" sear and flavor. I was very happy with the quality of the meat! The price was good too. You can eat a large meal here for less than $10! I took a star off for cleanliness. They were not very busy when I went, and while their building is very nice outside and well kept, the inside was pretty dirty. When the chicken is attended to well on the cooking end, this place can be a great among chain restaurants! For me there is only one way to eat here, building your own tacos with the grilled chicken, beans, rice, tortillas and salsa bar. It's delicious! How is this place staying in business? Every time I go there I am disappointed. Yesterday, I went and got a leg and thigh combo meal, which comes with two sides but no drink (btw their drinks are overpriced). When I looked at what I received (for a pretty high price I'd say for what you get) I was disappointed. I did not get a leg but I got two 'thighs' instead. I can guarantee that the two pieces of thigh meat I received was ONE thigh CUT IN HALF. To boot, the chicken was pretty old and dry. I suggest going to Costco, or anywhere else for that matter, and getting a whole, juicy, chicken for four bucks less. read more
