Today 7/20 around 9pm, the intercom prerecorded system greeted, I said 1 moment please, and of course no response like always. Then I said I was ready, as I'm placing my order, the girl in the intercom said just to let you know it's cash only. So I said well then nevermind , she said inside they're accepting card. I said okay can I order here and pay inside? She said no. She said it's a different system. It's hit or miss when you get good or even okay customer service. I came in with my family and ordered a 10 piece meal for $20 and two drinks. The first batch of chicken was overcooked and burnt to a crisp so I decided to bring it back to the counter and get it replaced promptly. The man cook behind the counter didn't seem very happy with me returning the order but he replaced it for me anyway. Besides if he did not replace it then I would be so frustrated because I paid for a decent meal not for some burnt chicken. The chicken at this location isn't the best quality probably needs more salt. I prefer going to the Orange County stores because they perfectly seasoned their chicken. Anyways they keep the salsa behind the counter so I couldn't get enough of it and sadly they did not have any lemons in stock so I opted for some onions and cilantro. The drinks will also have to be served behind the counter (Covid 19) since they don't allow full service at the fountain station. Will I be back, probably not and I'll go to another El Pollo Loco branch (preferred Orange County) instead. The service will be better and the chicken would be more fresher, not burnt and served to the customer. This location should be ashamed of themselves for even giving me burnt food. The only two stars I'm giving is for the sides because they were perfect... I ordered mashed potatoes and the mac & cheese. Very disappointed of the service. While I was placing my order to go. I notice a female employee who was tossing chicken into the grill she seemed very upset and also seemed to me she hated her job by the way she was handling customers orders. I also notice she was upset at a male employee, because she was talking to the male employee loud pretty much yelling at the poor male. It was loud enough that I was able to hear her yelling to the male employee that he was not allowed to leave to break before putting chicken in the grill and doing other things. It was very awkward because she was literally yelling at the male employee, Infront customers (very unprofessional) she could have waited or just went to the back, so no one hears or sees. I notice the female was probably the night lead for that day because everyone seemed to be afraid of her. The male just looked down and walked to the left side of the grill it seemed to me he was about to clean the grill but then again, the female started yelling at him telling him to not do that. After this, the female kept tossing the chicken to the grill and then I notice that after she was chopping the chicken for the orders, she was tossing them into the food trays and throwing the trays to the other employees so they can finish up the orders. When I arrive home, I notice that the family meal I purchase was a MESS! The chicken was sloppy, dry, and chopped wrong... and to top of off I found a hair on my food. I know it was the female's hair because she was not wearing a hat or a hair net over her hair. I honestly just wanted a warm dinner for my family but sadly to say I was not able to provide a good dinner for them. During these hard times due to COVID19 not all families have a good income and could afford to buy food. So, it was disappointing spending close to $30 for bad service and sloppy food. Customer service was very mediocre. I arrived around 2:30 starving the speaker on the intercom needs to slow down when answering or repeating your order. I asked him for hot sauce twice he still gives me the wrong sauce and pushes my food toward me. I don't know if corporate is strict about fast service but they need to train employees on how to give fast service and listen to what's being asked. Now my other issue is with corporate.
