Service was very kind and fun. Margarita was top notch, 9/10. Food was highly forgettable. Chips are not house made, salsa tastes like bleach, flautas filled with chicken leather, kids' chicken tenders out of a bag. But the killer is the place is filthy overall. With gross floors & walls, and a very gross mens' room, I can't trust what's going on in the kitchen. Would go back for drinks if the fun waitress/bartender was there, but that would be the only reason. Since folks rate this place the "best in town", I think I'd drive to Austin or Temple before doing anything near here again.

When in Rome... er... Jarrell, eat the Tex Mex. This was about as authentic as I would imagine texmex can be. Good service, delicious salsa, and every person at the table enjoyed their dish.

First impressions, it was clean and quiet. The servers took a little to get us drinks but the rest was good. Wound up having a good convo in the bar area. Food could have used a little more seasoning. Was a bit bland. The black beans were good.

The place we'd planned to meet our friends was closed, and this was the first place we came to after. It was nice enough, but even though they didn't seem busy, service was incredibly slow. In most Mexican places, slow service doesn't matter if you have chips, salsa, and a margarita, but we didn't get chips until I asked. The margarita was not bad, but not too good. We both ordered burritos. Since they came with nothing else, I was hoping for one of those big, luscious overstuffed things that mama never made. But no. When our food FINALLY arrived, both were just smallish burritos that were so bland we both piled on salt and salsa. We're not likely to end up hungry in Jarrel again. And if we do, we'll drive on a bit further.

I am giving a 3.5 and rounding up to a four. Why? I really, really liked the food. First let's start with the not so good .... The service. We walked in and there was a man eating and NO servers anywhere. My husband noticed a sign that say additional seating in the bar area. We walked over to the bar and there were two people working behind the bar and about 6 people at the bar. No one acknowledged us. We sat down for and waited for awhile. Just before I was about to get up and leave someone came to the table with chips and salsa. The good .... The food. The salsa was really good and although the chips didn't look great they were very tasty. We ordered the elote en Vaso with the hot sauce on the side (I am a wimp). I really liked it. My husband wanted more seasoning. I think he would have liked it better with the hot sauce already in it. We also ordered the shrimp and beef fajitas for two. It was wonderful. I loved the shrimp. Cooked perfectly with a nice pop when I bit into them. The steak was a bit chewy for me, but my husband loved it. We asked for no green peppers which they were able to accommodate. Facebook posts lead me here and I am so glad they did. Yum

As authentic of a Mexican food place you can get in Jarrel and near Georgetown. We got street tacos $2 per during happy hour and they were great. Ask for the spicy jalapeno creme salsa - yes they have it! To he sopapillas were not like how some restaurants fry flour tortillas as a shortcut, they were actually doughy. The ranchero plate was also very well flavored and hefty.

A quaint and unassuming Mexican restaurant in downtown Jarrell, Texas. The menu is extensive and the food is better than good. It can get quite busy with the local ranchers coming in for lunch and dinner but service is fast. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They have daily specials that are reasonably priced. The locals love this place and I can see why! Pop in if you're close by. They are right off the highway. Curb your appetite with some great Mexican food. You'll love it!

We were visiting family in the area and they recommended this restaurant to us! This place was super busy!! We ordered online and it was an hour wait. It's worth the wait! As we arrived to our curbside time, we were excited for them to have our order correctly. My chorizo and egg tasted authentic! I am a breakfast taco lover and loved this place! We only had to wait a few minutes upon arrival to get our food. I can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu! I was very pleased with my meal and tasted very fresh!

Small town restaurant in a small town mere steps off I-35. The staff is always pleasant, and service is pretty fast, depending on the crowd, as space is limited. This is actually a review after visiting a few times without leaving a review. We had a naked burrito bowl, quesabirria, and house margaritas on tjis trip. The burrito bowl was excellent. The quesabirria was good but lacking just a bit. I ecpected a bit more flavor. I'd get it again, but only after trying other items that I haven't tried yet. If you're ever passing thru and want a break from the fast food and truck stop fare, stop on thru.

Great little Mexican food restaurant. They ran out of sweet tea and didn't seem to have any desire to make more, which was weird. Overall the food was really tasty. The queso was a little runny, but that's probably just me. Kids and wife loved the cheese enchiladas and I thought the Chimichanga was phenomenal. read more

The hubs and I have been wanting to try this hole in the wall Mex restaurant for a while now. Today was the day! I got a burrito in a bowl with chicken fajita and hubs got 4 street tacos. The Tacos were $6.00, and my bowl was around $7. The chips came warm and salsa is exceptional. The chips were the yellow sturdy corn kind, not flimsy and break-y. Not greasy either! I loved my burrito bowl. It came with shredded lettuce, pico, guac, cilantro, cheese, sour cream (which I took off) and seasoned chicken fajita meat. It was wonderful! Husband says his tacos were good too! They were covered in lots of cilantro, and each taco had 2 tortillas because I think they fall apart otherwise. We bought some salsa to take home, that's how good it is. Beer and margaritas, but they do not have skinny margaritas (oh snap). Try it! They are also helping out seniors, first responders, and school children during COVID. El Pitayo is our new go-to Mex restaurant. read more

Great little hole in the wall. Ive eaten there several times now and yet to be disappointed. Wonderfully crisp chips and flavorful salsa; best charro beans Ive had in a long time; great fresh, warm, tortillas; etc. I think my favorite dish to this point was the chimi but everything has been good. read more

Looks can definitely be Deceiving is an freaking understatement HANDS DOWN THE BEST FOOD IN AROUND AND MOST DEFINITELY THE BEST TASTING AND PRICED MEXICAN FOOD IN JARRELL TEXAS. My friend ordered food from here for us on accident... thinking the website was for another Mexican restaurant in Jarrell. I'm so thankful for her mistake because this is LITERALLY MY NEW FAVORITE PLACE!! The food is amazing! The Enchiladas Verdes taste like they were made from scratch. The website was so nice and easy to use. I was surprised because the restaurant is a cute little place... I didn't expect such a nice website with easy food ordering. - also very easy to customize however you want! The people are so friendly. This place had a bad smell, looked dirty, had to find a table that wasn't dirty(looked like they they just picked up plates from previous customers but didn't bother to wipe the tables down), the service was ridiculously slow. One waitress for the whole restaurant and she never bothered to check on us after the food came. My ground beef tacos were raw and smelled raw too. I will never return I feel so disgusted. The enchiladas were gross too it seemed like they just dumped a can of sauce on top and didn't bother to heat it up. read more

I found this neighborhood restaurant by accident, and it was a very pleasant experience. I was greeted promptly and given my choice of seats. They were quite busy, with the lunch crowd, so it took a few minutes to be delivered a menu and my drink order taken. The menu is simple and easy to read. Offerings are priced very reasonable and the food is served just off the grill. Obviously just prepared right before serving me. It was delicious and the closest in flavor to the Tex Mex I grew up with in San Antonio in the 50's and 60's. I will definitely make every effort to stop here whenever I am in the Area. Now if they just had Caldo De Res, I would have rated them a 5! I just finished reading the reviews, very impressive, mainly 5's. read more

Love, love, love! This place is right off of Highway 35 and at first unassuming. Although this restaurant is small, it is cozy and comfortable. The menu is diverse and includes Breakfast. Even though they were only a couple of people working, the service is fantastic. The food was incredibly affordable and delicious. Definitely coming back! read more

I recently visited El Pitayo Restaurant and was very impressed with not just the variety of choices on the menu, but the authenticity of the food too! It was amazing! The owner stopped by our table making sure all was ok, and even chatted with us. The waitress was awesome as well. Love this little place. We call in tacos and even if we run behind schedule they keep the tacos in a warmer. Which is a nice touch! The waitresses are kind and go above and beyond, super friendly. The eggs for breakfast are fluffy and meat is always cooked correctly. Once when we had an order incorrectly, they quickly fixed it and doubled our order at no charge. Our waitress was fairly new and she originally brought me the wrong dish but she was very apologetic and it was replaced quickly. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and a cucumber margarita. This was my first time having a cucumber margarita. It was so refreshing. I think I might've found a new Taco Tuesday spot and favorite drink!

This is a tiny little food truck located off the Frontage Road next to a gas station. My chimichaunga was really good, it got soggy after awhile. Usually that doesn't happen to me. Next time I will get the shredded chicken instead. The taste was flavorful and it was cooked well. This restaurant has a very family friendly atmosphere that I loved. This will be my new spot when I'm craving Mexican food!

Great food! Service ok sometimes, better other times. I get the al pastor tacos with onion and cilantro. Husband likes cheese enchiladas. I give 5 stars just for the food. I think they are shorthanded sometimes and it seems like a family business so I give grace for the service. We have made this place a regular because we love the food. read more
