Something has changed with this place. The food no longer has the authentic taste. It used to be well known for food you would expect from your "abuelita", and now its like it was made by an uncaring drunk uncle. Had a breakfast burrito with egg, bacon, cheese and green chili. We ordered the vegetarian tacos which were ok. Nothing special. Then I got the Arroz con pollo take out. Couldnt wait to dig in that same evening. The broth was bland and clear as dishwater and tasted like just colored water . One piece of chicken in the whole pint and it was hard as a rock. Could t eat it. It's impossible to make anything that horrible . I felt it had to be done on purpose . Screw the tourist ? It's what came to mind unfortunately. Sorry we were told how great it was. Service was good. Ambience was what evs. First time I ever used a coin to access the restroom. Any how let's talk about the most important part. The food. Got a breakfast burrito (bacon egg cheese potatoes) it wasn't good. Came out hot at least . But the scrambled eggs were not scrambled, they had the same texture as grits. The potatoes were pretty much just steamed or mashed. Not the best burrito I've had nor the worst but. Ya you get it. Stopped at El Parasol on the way to Buffalo thunder to get some Chicharrones. A few people mentioned they had good Chicharrones so we decided to check them out. Stopped here while traveling through and picked this place based on the positive reviews. What a mistake. I spent $13 bucks on a chicharron burrito that was absolutely terrible. So bad that it was only one bite in and the rest went straight into the trash. It was essentially an over priced tortilla filled with refried beans and then the cook opened a bag of chicharron chips and packed those in there. No sauce, even though I asked for chile, very little flavor. I don't know if this is how they do it in Mew Mexico, but it ain't the right way. read more

My favorite tamales, breakfast burritos (chorizo with green is so good), French fries (thin and perfectly salty), posole. I've been coming here since my childhood and it's still my favorite. I introduced my wife to their fare and she is now equally obsessed. The price of the food, too, is great, especially in these economically hard times. Everything that I've ever ordered has been so savory and just perfect. The red chile is complex and delicious, and homemade tortillas make everything taste better. If you're looking for catering, there are enchiladas casseroles that are so delicious and will always be a favorite at any function in which they're offered. I think I love El Parasol and their cooking more than my own mother's. It's what I crave when I'm ill and what I'm sure I'll crave when I'm old on my deathbed. Incredible burritos! Recommended to us by a local and it didn't disappoint. We had breakfast burritos, one red chile with bacon and one red chile with sausage. The red chile was so good and burrito had all the right proportions of potato to egg to chile to cheese. I can't wait to go back and try again. I've been dying to try El Parasol for years. I finally made it back to town after lock down and boy let me tell ya.. This place tastes like absolutely nothing. I mean just sweat and green chile. No flavor, overly greasy meat, the burritos weren't wrapped at all, everything just falling apart and the list goes on. I had a horrible feeling inside with the staff. They made me feel like I was taking up time and space -- maybe that's why they rushed the food? Walked out spending over 60 dollars on food that just ended up in the bin. I can see why this place has been here since 1958. It's good, basic Mexican food. I ordered two ground beef tacos. There's plenty of tasty meat and plenty of lettuce but no cheese. I counted six shreds of cheese in one taco and zero in the other. The hot sauce accompanying the tacos was fire. It was hot all right but had no flavor. There were small green pea-sized things that may have been beans. OK by me but if somebody cannot eat beans, they should be warned. They weren't many but if one can't eat them, often one cannot eat any. The kitchen was humming and sounded like a happy busy. The young woman, with long brown hair, who took my order could not have been less interested in my order or me. Zero enthusiasm. I was hoping to sit down and eat but their tables were roped off. Would I come back? Yes. However, I would ask to make sure cheese is really on any taco promising ground beef, lettuce, and cheese. read more

Tacos remind me of Perico's in ABQ but better. The red salsa is kind of sweet and I wasn't a fan, but the green is really good. I love El Parasol and have for years. I haven't had anything that wasn't good (the posole was greasy but that is as close to a criticism as I have). I typically go for the breakfast burritos, but also like their chicken tacos with guac. I was disappointed when the zucchini (calabacita) option went away. Suprisingly bad food. I was excited to try El Parasol based on the history and yelp reviews. However, I was greatly disappointed in the portion size and quality of the food. The chips and guac cost 5.50 + 12 and was mediocre at best. The burritos we ordered smothered came un smothered and were dry and tasteless. The tortillas were not toasted and the overall flavor was severely lacking. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more
