Great food!!! I judge Mexican restaurants by their Chile Verde and tortillas. The corn tortillas here were good, not great. The Chile was off the charts terrific. The sauce was a bit spicy and the pork was fork tender. My wife had a soap with camarones and it was wonderful. The broth had a great flavor and there were tons of shrimp. Great job guys! read more

I went here for the first time yesterday and it may be my favorite Mexican spot in town. The servers were very friendly and answered all the questions we had about the menu, and the service was pretty fast. I got the tortilla soup and the 1 item combo with a chicken enchilada which cost me less than $15. Really great price for that much food, and both dishes were great. Great stop all around...visiting from a land far away for a Corvallis friend's birthday, we landed here for tacos, burritos and a chili rellano . All were really good, and served piping with nice portions of sour cream, guacamole and salsa...I'd take a picture but it's all gone!! read more

We went there this afternoon for Mother's day. I used to love coming here but haven't been in several months. Things have really changed for the worse. In their favor I have to say it was busy and they seemed pretty short handed. But still it seemed like a lot of the customers were friends of the wait staff and host Lots of chit chat with some customers while totally ignoring others. We were greeted immediately by a friendly face who took the time to acknowledge each person in our party. The fresh salsa, warm chips, and delicious beans were lovely to sit down to! Came here on 8/5/2018 and ordered the veggie fajitas for two and what we got was very disappointing. It was a plate of steamed cauliflower, broccoli and huge chunks of carrots, at the bottom of the pile there where a few steamed onions and even fewer bell peppers. It was odd meal that had usual-- rice and beans, guacamole, sour cream and tortillas-- but 90% of the meal was the steamed veggies with nothing on it. The others in our group enjoyed what they got, but $24 for a plate of vegetables was a bit steep. Not a place to go if you are looking for a good vegetarian option. We have been getting takeout from this place at least once a month since COVID began. Staff is very friendly and helpful and has typically met us outside with our meal. I would highly recommend the chicken mole enchiladas. Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Corvallis. read more

Ok Im getting on my last legs of review typing today. My fingers are getting kinda sore lol. So not a long review. This was an impromptu stop for dinner while on our latest trip and I was craving Mexican. Everything we each had (two in our party had big burritos) and my youngest had seafood enchiladas while I had a combo platter with a chile releno and something else I honestly cant remember-all were delicious. Of course most of us couldn't finish our meals because we pigged out on the chips and salsa or bean dip which tasted very yummy authentic (for lack of a better word) and not at all like a standard cookie cutter franchise type place. I wish I could eat or simply fit more in my tummy when we go to places like this. And not gain weight of course! This place deserves the great reviews I had read. I have tried all of the Mexican restaurants in town. This is the best one in my opinion. There are a large number of dishes on the menu to choose from. The bartender/server went above and beyond for us here. We came in for a double date and he gave us such a personal and fun experience, it was like chatting with an old friend. Really pleased with this place. I've been in three times and have always had quick service and delicious, plentiful food. The chile relleno is the best I've had in Corvallis/Albany: not overcooked, still tastes like the original chile. The verde sauce is bright and tangy. Chips are freshly cooked and the standard salsa is chunky and a little bit spicy, with bits of cilantro. Lunch specials are very reasonably priced and offer tons of food. read more

The meal was absolutely wonderful & the delivery was fast! When it was time to pay over the phone (had them deliver) the man said that their card machine wasn't working so it would have to be cash. My total was no more than $25 and when I asked the delivery person if they had change they said they didn't. I ended up paying $40 for an under $25 meal. Hard to find an authentic Mexican restaurant that can meet my expectations. El Palenque has a great atmosphere with friendly service. Love the colors and the Mexican feel you get when you walk in.
