We went here once. Reviews made it sound like one of the best Mexican spots in Corvallis. Must be those $16 jumbo margaritas. I did really like the dozen artworks of Frida. Tables are really cool with burned designs, but upholstery needs a refresh. Let's run through it. Chips were stale and chewy. Ewww. Sent them back to get get similar but warm, so there was at least a little crunch. Salsa reportedly made "in house" but it's pretty much Sysco salsa with some Tapatio added. Tacos carbon came single shell with way too many half-cooked, crunchy onions on top. Beef was more chewy that I would expect. Accompanying rice and beans had nothing remarkable. Traditional lime margarita is good. Here is my favorite part. My co-worker and I are done. Want a to-go box and a bill. 20 minutes later, and not seeing the waitress again, I start hollering back into the kitchen. Someone is washing dishes, but no one comes out. 4 tables occupied in dining room. Couldn't wait longer, left my business card. Bartender calls me, I ask for a discount due to our inconvenience. Refuses and says there was nothing "wrong" with the meal and threatened to call the police on me saying "in a restaurant you sometimes have to wait." Really? I left my business card to be contacted for payment dippy. Apparently the waitress had an emergency and just bounced without letting anyone know. So we went there once. read more

When i walked in the place it was pretty empty. Like 8 other people in the place. Chips and salsa came out with a mini bowl of beans too. My first thought was "beans great....throw away item." Dipped a chip into the salsa, AMAZING, probably one of the best salsas I've had in a very long time!! Tried the beans and they were pretty dang good too! they're beans so....but good enough to eat with the chips. My only complaint is their enchiladas options didn't have a simple cheese sauce. They have mole, crema, verde, and "house." What is house? Anyway ordered the crema because that was recommended. I did not like that. It was like a hot sour cream sauce with the consistency of greek yogurt. I still ate 3/4 of the two because the beef filling was still good. So while I complain about the sauce, it didn't stop me from eating most of it. Staff is attentive. Food came out quick. Bill was like $20 with a drink, so not that bad. Overall, eat here. It's friendly here. Yes, it's a typical Mexican restaurant with the usual suspects. But don't we all need that sometimes? A cozy spot that offers comforting food such as cheesy enchiladas and great salsa and chips? I asked for a hotter salsa, and what came out was perfect. The kick and flavor I needed. There is a lot of space here to accommodate large parties. In the back, there is a bar that looks fun but was not open during my visit. My margarita was the usual restaurant style; so it was not fresh squeezed, but it got me through. The service was spectacular. Good servers, but price changes took us by surprise. Me and my friends were picking up our food, and we noticed that certain prices had been bumped up. We kindly asked the servers what happened and they said they had a second site and they were working on terminating the site with incorrect prices. When we checked, there was no second site that they stated. The person at the front desk ask failed to show us a second site. The front desk people were kind until the owner came out and shut the conversation up and told us to leave. Again the servers were really nice, but the owner was being very rude to us and didn't even want to confront the issue that we brought up with them. For one of my friends, she's a vegetarian and they added CHICKEN to the order. On door dash it was listed as just a fajita burrito and there was no option to order without meat. read more

We went here to celebrate my birthday and had a party of six. This restaurant is family owned and operated. Three brothers waited on us and their dad stopped by to say hello. Wonderful, friendly service but the food was excellent!! All of us loved the meals we ordered. I had a Cadillac margarita and it was delicious and generous. We're new to the area but visited often for years before we moved here. We had been to this restaurant when someone else owned it and it was mediocre then. Now it's fabulous and we've found our favorite Mexican food restaurant in Corvallis. Will definitely return over and over in the future. read more

Had the Enchiladas a la Crema and chicken fajitas. Chicken fajitas were very flavorful compared to some other chicken fajitas I've had in Oregon that were bland and boring. Enchiladas a la crema was pretty good. The cream sauce was extremely rich which was very filling but also satisfying and savory. The complimentary chips, however, weren't anything special. This meal is one of those happy events that Yelp can produce. I was looking for a Mexican restaurant in Corvallis, and El Patron was near the top of the list. I decided to give it a try, and was impressed enough to write a review after my first visit, something I rarely like to do. My server was Amanda, who also works in the bar some evenings. She was excellent: friendly, helpful, and efficient. She added to my enjoyment of this meal experience. I ordered two items "a la carta", so I cannot comment on the rice and beans. The Authentic Chile relleno was one of the best I have had: a delicious chile and filling, and a perfect egg batter -- I may be dreaming about it before my next visit. The pork tamale (more properly "tamal") was also outstanding: excellent masa and pork filling, with a good red sauce on top. They have delicious margaritas as well. I had the Cadillac margarita, with fresh lime juice, silver Herradura tequila, and Cointreau, served on the rocks. Excellent. I also tried the La Patrona margarita, made with fresh lime and orange juices, silver tequila and served on the rocks. This was one of the very best margaritas I have had in a long time. Our first visit. The food was not OK. The chicken in the enchiladas, flautas, and chimichangas was dry, tough and stringy. Virtually flavorless. Then there were the two margaritas (one for each of us). They WERE very good but I guess when you don't see the prices listed in the menu, you shouldn't assume they'll be about what one would expect for a margarita. I almost lost it in the parking lot. They are aware of the situation as there is a sign on the stall and the person who took my payment said 'yeah, we've been working on it'.
