My husband ordered the beef chili Colorado, I had a chicken burrito... granted it was just a chicken burrito but really had no flavor it was supposed to be a supreme but I saw no guacamole let alone flavor!!!! My husband said his was barely worth eating... he absolutely never complains! Causes he says he's not picky!! I have been a chef for 32 years!! I really don't eat out ever! Wow this place is cool. The inside is fun and muy autentico! The food is excellent and that's why I'm writing this review. Why go anywhere else in Corvallis. We have so few choices here. Service was great!!! That goes a long way. Food was not what I'd consider authentic. We had three different dishes and all were good but I wouldn't go back. I really go for the tortillas and salsa. Tortillas were store bought, boo. Salsa was okay. La Margarita in downtown Salem is my standard I compare all other sit down Mexican restaurants too. Short order is typically better but I wanted a nicer ambiance, which El Palenque had. Finally! It took 21 years, but I finally found amazing fajitas in Oregon! Not oily/greasy, amazing flavor, veggies cooked perfectly- it was everything I've missed about good fajitas! Guacamole was good too. Beans could've been hotter (as could the enchiladas de camarones), but the food tastes homemade and fresh, and not like it had been sitting around all day. Margaritas were delicious and also tasted like they use quality ingredients and not just cheap mix. Staff was friendly and efficient, prices were great. Lucky find for a great lunch . Who doesn't love good, traditional Mexican food! The salsa was yummy ! The food was delicious. I had a combo with cheese enchilada and a chilie. Their green sauce is one of the best. The restaurant has a traditional Mexican feel- clean , friendly and inviting. Generous portions, great service and very fair pricing. WOW this place blew me away. I'm a Mexican food snob born and raised in southern San Diego, 5 miles from Tijuana and I need good Mexican food to survive. I spent the last 2 years in alaska with no such luck and just moved to Oregon and found this place a few blocks from our house. I was hesitant for a while but we finally gave it a try and it literally took to me heaven and back to my childhood. My first time there was last night. I was meeting family there for a birthday dinner.The wait for our food was very long. As I was sitting there waiting for our dinner. I see a huge Rat run across the wall and was in total shock. Nobody else saw it then it came running back and my girlfriend and some others saw it. My girlfriend ended up getting hers to go. The food was cold and bland. I asked the waiter 3 times for chips and he never brought them. Since my first review this place has become one of my top 5 spots to eat in town. Good but mild salsa and warm homemade beans come out first thing with a basket of chips. Enchiladas, chili rellanos, and tableside guacamole are some of the best I've ever had. Their happy hour is insane! You can get any appetizer half off! I would have to say the food was alright not that good nor bad. Their was one waiter that was just extremely rude to everyone. We asked her a question and she would respond in a very rude way. Two stars are for the food only! (Not judging anyone on timeliness during the current plague.) This place took forever to make our food. (It's mexican food. It's pretty much all the same stuff on a different tortilla with a different sauce.) We didn't order anything complicated but our EatStreet driver had to wait around for it. It was about half an hour late (so an hour and a half) and only half warm anyway. The food is alright. Chips and salsa are good. The enchiladas are WAAAAAAY too sweet. I like a little sweetness in my enchilada sauce but this was over the top. Ground beef was bland and the green chili, which I think they called green sauce with pork? but it's supposed to be actual green chili, was also bland. Even if it isn't the right sauce make it taste like something. Anyway, kinda pricey for what you get and not good anyway. read more
