One section has Chinese dishes but majority is Latin. The server said it's Dominican influenced. My favorite is the sancocho. It was hat, very flavorful and the meat tasted Smokey. I haven't reviewed a restaurant in a while. I feel this should be told, the food was not clearly labeled. My co-worker took some food that was labeled garlic mashed potatoes. In fact it was crab meat with cheese. She is allergic to sea food. This was not clearly labeled. Which could cost her, her life. One star is too much!!! This place is so expensive, I have a 7 yr old daughter who didn't even eat much and was charged adult price for her. Ridiculous. Not only was it expensive, the food was bad it looked old and dry as if it had been out all day. I spent $50 to not even eat one whole plate. HORRIBLE experience. Been seeing and hearing about this place for a long time and finally was in the area and gave it a try. It was a Friday night and there was basically no one there. The ladies at the front were very kind and friendly. We paid before being seated. It was $35 for my husband and I. We usually love buffets but it was just not very appealing. I walked around the buffet options twice before I even grabbed for anything to put on my plate. The food items I did eat were okay. Nothing really stood out as delicious or noteworthy. Service was very friendly, although pretty slow in coming by even though there were only about six tables. A lot of the wait staff was just standing around talking to each other. Lots of tables had used plates on them, waiting to be collected. In fact, none of my plates were taken during the time I was sitting there. The weirdest thing is as some other reviewers noted, they do expect a tip and even circled it on the receipt. I decided to offer a nominal amount, mainly because the overall price was very inexpensive for a buffet meal. The food itself had great potential and lots of variety, but unfortunately seem to be sitting around for a while and drying out. I also noticed that they are very slow in replenishing the popular food. For example, when I arrived, I took the last piece of oxtail. I'm glad I did, because it took at least a half hour before they brought in a new batch. The pieces are cut very thin and full of fat, but I did enjoy it after trimming off the fat. The only other notable dishes were the mussels and clams. Some of the chicken dishes were good, but you had to pick through the dried out pieces. No one seemed to be going for the other meat dishes, which just sat around drying out. The sushi looked like it was mostly filler and seemed out of place, but several pieces remain remained and of course, it was completely dried out. The cold avocado were pretty good, but that's because it didn't have any sauce. I'm glad I tried it but probably would not go back. To start, I want to say my family and I have been here 2-3 times every year, maybe even more. We used to come every time we came to Orlando. NO MORE! I was bringing more family on this trip and wanted to introduce them to this restaurant. I called an hour before we got there to ask if they had oxtail and fresh sushi. The lady on the phone was SO rude. She was like yes? Like I was stupid for even asking. Then I asked how much kids were (we had 4 kids with us and just wanted to know) and she literally laughed and said "it depends but I tell you when you get here" what kind of response is that? When we walked in, the lady at the front register was the WORST. When she asked for the ages of the kids, I told her 6,5, 2,1 1/2 year old. She literally goes "so she's 2" and I said she turns two at the end of summer yes and she started debating OUR kids ages to us. Anyways, she charged us 14.99 for the 6 year old, 10.99 for the 5 year old, 4.99 for the 2 year olds. YUP FOR THE 2 YEAR OLD! When asking for our drinks, I said can we just have water right now as we just came from the parks. She said "oh you can figure that out at the table." Adults were $18.59 so with the way she said it we thought the drinks were included as they always have been! If they changed this, it should have been communicated or a sign somewhere. When we sat down, we were all super frustrated. Honestly, looking back we should have left after the first bad encounter, but we are all from the service industry and wanted to support locals. Our waiter was super rude as well. He stood at our table with his arms crossed asking us what we wanted to drink and then informed us that drinks were not included so we said we should just go purchase them at the front, but he was stomping around like the miscommunication was our fault. Post your prices so people know! There is NO sign anywhere. We have been to many buffets where everything is included in one price. While my family was getting the kids situated, I went to the bathroom with my son to change him and we saw TWO roaches!! I immediately left and went to the table, told my family to stop eating, and asked for a refund. The lady at the register tried to tell me "oh just a refund for you and your baby" my baby is literally 1! I said "no for my whole family please and I paid for it all with one card on one check" and then she proceeded to say "let me check the cameras" We were not even there for 10 minutes! What are you going to check? Me going to the bathroom and finding ROACHES in there? Your rude attitude to my family? The rude server? All around DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS! They suck! This place was recommended to me by a friend. I'm contemplating if she is really my friend now! First of all, the place was HOT as hell. The staff were all rude. Like ridiculously rude. No English speaking or English comprehension whatsoever. The food looked good from afar. Once I took a bite of the chicken, I was like; how is this place still in business??? The only things I ate that were on my plate was the plantains, white rice, and the tomato sauce that came with the chicken. The sweet tea was the only amazing thing about this place. My family really enjoys this place because you could have oxtail, some tripe, lamb, liver, and many other different types of things. It does have a Latin food taste where you can sample all sorts of different dishes all staying under budget for a meal too. El Palicio (The Palace) is a fitting name because after eating here, you may be sitting on El Trono (The Throne). I went on a Saturday and paid way too much for this garbage. The price included a soft drink. PRO (yes, just one): - The Hibachi was good (Just had chicken and shrimp), but there weren't really a lot of flavor choices. It was piping hot though. CONS: Nothing else was hot! Every single "hot" item I got from the buffet was warm to lukewarm at best. Some was actually cold (and I'm not talking about the ceviche) Service was lacking, and not for a shortage of servers. The Hibachi "Chef" seemed annoyed with me picking my ingredients, then after explaining what I wanted, he pointed to another guy then left the station and the other guy cooked my food. Empanadas were mostly empty, unless air is an ingredient. That plastic glove they give you when you pay at the beginning. Really? I've seen other places where you get a new glove each time. It starts out with the staff, who, for the most part are not very friendly. Also, while I was there, they only spoke Spanish, even though they could clearly see that I did not. As for the food, it left a lot to be desired. Crab salad had very, very little mayonnaise in it. The fried shrimp was all burnt. And just in general, the food was not very appetizing looking. Pros: Price point and a number of choices. Cons: Food was salty, flavor for most dishes were off not to mention the color, meat for most things were dry or not tender. For example, oxtail need to be braised for a while. Oxtail was rubbery and needed piranha teeth to do any damage. Other example is the pig feet. No self respecting Latino under cooks this. It had more pull than elastic man. Floors were slick and sticky, and washroom were neglected. Lastly, it's a buffet and there was extreme and blatant/rude statements about the tip. Guy dropped off water for our party and never returned or cleared our table until we were about to leave. Don't get misled by pictures or suspect positive feedback. It looks really run down and the host doesn't really care about you as long as you pay. The servers are all really nice. The seating area is cramped but there is so much food! The food labels aren't accurate but the food itself is really good. The flavors are strong and each dish is delicious! There's many options for meats but limited options for vegetables. We ate and ate and were so full when we left that all we wanted to do was sleep! I highly recommend checking this buffet out! read more

Finally reviewing my favorite buffet in Orlando! I've been a customer for years but I haven't visited since before the pandemic. As a Hispanic American, I absolutely love this place. I understand the 5 star reviews as well as the 1 star reviews. Guys, it's a low priced buffet! Don't go in with the mentality of receiving exceptional service or ambiance--you're there for a variety of foods to please everyone in your party. Price includes a beverage with refills! Staff are Hispanic and speak Spanish but there are English speakers as well. The variety of foods include traditional American buffet options like a salad station, French fries, and chicken nuggets; as well as the Asian options like vegetable fried rice and stir fry. The highlight is the Hispanic food station with a plethora of soups, rices, and meats. Desserts include American and Hispanic offerings like chocolate cake and arroz con leche. There is also a hibachi station where you choose your ingredients and the cook will prepare your dish fresh just for you. They also offer many different ice cream flavors. On this most recent visit, I will say that they are much cleaner and more organized than prior to the pandemic. I noticed less tables, more signage, and now they give you a glove to use while serving yourself. Bathrooms are clean and staff are pleasant. The kitchen is constantly cranking out fresh, hot food to refill. El Palacio is vegetarian friendly, kid friendly, and they can also accommodate larger party sizes.
