We ordered the Tamanaco platter ($174.40) and asked the waitress for help with some substitutions as we were new to Venezuelan cuisine. She never mentioned extra charges, yet the final bill came to $386.00. They charged us for the new items individually by switching our order from the Tamanaco platter to the Barinas platter which it cost $210.88 without ever mentioning or explaining it . Beyond the bill, the service was non-existent. No water was brought to the table, and the waitress didn't return until it was time for the check. Despite the website advertising live music, there was none at 4:30 PM, and my wife had to ask twice just to get a happy birthday song. We explored the menu on an iPad with some really cool features, which made ordering fun and easy. We came here for a sorority meet up and the place is certainly lively! Lots of lights and live music and movement. We were seated in the back up on a little stage and it might have been because it was a busy night but service took quite some time to even take our orders even though there were large groups seated near us as well that seemed to have been served more quickly. The restaurant is inside of a large plaza with ample parking. I came here for lunch and I would recommend doing so for smaller parties of 2-4. I tried the bao buns with octopus and shrimp and they were amazing. For my entree I did the firewood steak dish. The steak was cooked to perfection and so were the sides. I sat at the bar and ordered a margarita. The bartender was helpful with some of my questions and I selected the corn pancake (cachapa) with pork ribs. The food came out promptly. I will say the bar seats are very low so if you are not a giant it will be awkward to eat there. The corn pancake comes stuffed with a mild cheese, maybe mozzarella? And then topped with another saltier cheese and a sauce. That thing was amazing! The pork ribs came with sauces on the side but they were so well seasoned that I just ate them plain. As we were driving north from Fort Lauderdale to head back to Louisiana on the FL Turnpike, we passed billboards about 70 miles south, advertising Nando's in Orlando. The billboards caught our attention and we wanted to stop for lunch and give them a try. The restaurant is so attractive and inviting. We sat at the bar where Kenneth tended to us. We wanted to try more items from the menu but we had no more room in our bellies. We met the owner, Fernando, who is pictured on the billboards. The first time, I thought maybe it was my error, so I didn't comment on the pinkness (also sometimes they ask as a formality) . But then a manager came by a second time and asked again. I took this as them being serious about wanting to make sure we had a good experience. So I mentioned that I ordered "no pink" but that it was okay (hopefully it didn't come across as complaining about our individual server because it was loud in there). They brought out some extra pieces of definitely well done and no pink meat. We really appreciated that they made SURE that we could really enjoy the firewood Steak we ordered! Note that we were trying to eat around the original plate with the pink parts, so in the end we got the right portion. There was a lot of empty space on the tray so made it look smaller. The arepas we ordered as a "side" were also small. Some things are advertised as "mini", so it's a perception. Conclusion This place is new and I want them to do well since I don't see too many Venezuelan restaurants (at least where in from). Though the portions and value give me pause. Nando Grill in Orlando is like a Brazilian backyard barbecue that somehow crash-landed in a strip mall parking lot and brought a full party with it. I had the Picanha steak with corn coleslaw, fried yuka frita, and plantain chips with dip. The steak was pretty solid. The corn coleslaw sounded like a bold twist but tasted like someone whispered the word "flavor" near it and then walked away. Needed salt, maybe a personality. The yuka frita were thick and crispy, like if French fries were made by someone who lifts weights recreationally. Pretty satisfying. But the real MVP of this meal? The plantain chips and that ranchy magical dip. I do not know what was in it but I would dip everything in it. Fries. Steak. Phone charger. Whatever. Also had a tropical blue drink that looked like it was designed by a cruise director. Sweet, boozy, and tasted like summer vacation. Our waitress brought out some plantain chips with a creamy white dip to munch on while we browsed the menu. The dip was pretty good.. I tasted a hint of mayo in it. Our apps were large and easily fed the three of us. We should have stopped there but we went ahead and ordered 2 main dishes. What can I say? The margaritas made us do it! My friend ordered the cachapa with steak and I got the hamburguessa llanera. Again the three of us split the main dishes. And for dessert, we polished it all off with a chocolate cake. Overall, the food is good, but a bit greasy and a tad bit pricey. Our total came out to $183. We decided to split the bill 3 ways since we all ate everything. Now that I think of it... it was probably best to order the family meal that feeds 4 people at $140. So If you've never been here before and you plan on coming as a group, order the family meal. We ordered tequeños, and the plate came with 6 pieces. After each of us (my husband, my son, and I) took one, we immediately noticed they were cold on the inside. We politely informed the waiter, who took the plate back, but instead of bringing a fresh order, they returned the same plate with the remaining 3 pieces, now with an almost over-toasted exterior. It was disappointing. A cold interior in a fried dish points to poor cooking technique, and it would have made much more sense to simply bring out a fresh, properly prepared plate.
