Took my wife out earlier today for brunch. There was nothing on the menu that I could say I didn't like, but what I ordered was the sandwich called El Chamo. It's basically a 12 inch sandwich that comes with grilled chicken grilled steak, lettuce, tomato onions, and a cilantro style sauce with a little bit of mayo ketchup, which was toasted and served with an order of french fries was unbelievable and it was only $13.99 My wife went and ordered a meal called a 911 basically what it is is fried chunks of pork with grilled chicken and Mofongo with also a couple of pieces of toasted garlic bread, which she could only eat half the other half she had to bring back home that was only $19.99 this man's restaurant was highlighted by Guy Fieri show "Triple D" about five years ago and I see why.. excellent food and service goes along long way. I will review this restaurant in real time. The wait was a bit long just to get a table in the middle of the afternoon, but to their credit, it's a small eat in and take out establishment on Goldenrod, very casual dining and with typical Puerto Rican decorations. They have bench seats and independent chairs. They do not have outdoor tables. About the service... long wait all around. I ordered a Coke Zero, they brought a can with a straw- I would say very reminiscent of what you would get in a kiosk in Puerto Rico, but other tables got a cup and ice. Maybe it's upon request? My husband ordered Perrier, or soda water, but they don't have any. It could be that they only serve canned drinks, not from a machine. So he got water, refills come very rarely. So far trickling slow. Every time I decide to do a "realtime review", something happens that it makes the service very slow. They play Latin music in the background. Food's here. Hubby ordered the pinchos with tostones one thing he noticed right away is that the pinchos aren't grilled. I ordered a pork pincho with mofongo and I have to agree, these are deep fried (carne frita). The tostones were good, he said. My pincho is very fatty and the flavor is ok, not seasoned as I would expect. The mofongo is on point, with crispy bits of pork rinds. The bill reflects a 4% increase if you use a credit card, regardless of your party size. I might come back and try some other items, though. Better luck next time. read more

It's been a minute since the last time I came to Willie's Pinchos. Their dining area is nicely decorated and looks way nicer compared to my last visit. I came today for the lunch special for $12.99 which is a mofongo and a pincho. The mofongo was decent it could have been just a little softer for my liking and the pincho was just ok. The pincho had lots of fatty pork chunks and it had bbq sauce but still was lacking flavor. For the portion size and price I think it's reasonable, but I doubt I'll be back. read more

I had this on my list to try from it being featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. During a recent business trip, I had the opportunity to stop by. I absolutely had to try Guy's favorite the Steakstrami jibarito (they have it highlighted on the menu). Two fried plantains, instead of bread, with lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, mayo, ketchup, cheese, cilantro garlic sauce and French fries with Steak and Pastrami. I also got a Mango Lemonade which was amazing! The Jibarito was very good and I can see why it is Guy's favorite. French fries were cooked to perfection and the classic Puerto Rican mayochup was a great enhancement. Surprisingly was not busy at all. Only 1 other dine in guest and a few to go pickups while I was there. Service was quick and attentive. The decor and music made it feel like it could easily be in Puerto Rico. I join Guy in highly recommending and may try to bring my family on one of our future trips to Orlando. Ok this is going on my list of favorites! Authentic puerto Rican food made right! The staff they are young and super nice! We ended up going 2 days in a row! That's how much we enjoyed their food! And I have to say it can't wait to take some friends! Idk if it was the hunger or what but the hot dog was do delicious! BBQ hot dog! nope it was absolutely delicious because my mouth is watering just working about it. Crunchy with the papaitas on top. The fries are great too! The jibarito plantain sandwich full of flavor, a must try! It was very messy though but definitely worth the messy! The BBQ shrimp pinchos, another great pick! Can't go wrong! Alcapurria was very delicious. Had the pork platter with the rice and beans and ordered a chicken skewer on the side. Beans were awesome. The pork and chicken lacked in flavor and was dry, and the pork was tough to cut; most likely overcooked. Not a deal breaker for me to go back and try them again. Service and ambience were good. I ate here with some friends in a weekday evening. The restaurant was not very busy and the staff was welcoming. I ordered the grilled mahi mahi sandwich which came on tostones in lieu of a bun. It was difficult to eat as a sandwich because of the tostones, but a knife a fork worked just fine. It was well seasoned and came with a very good sauce. The real standout were the fries. I would venture to say that their fries were the best I've ever eaten! They are very crispy and well salted. They have an entire section of the menu dedicated to loaded fries. My daughter ordered the #3, which has pork. She loved them and had plenty of leftovers to reheat in the air fryer. Everyone else was happy with their meals. I'd definitely recommend it if you're in the mood for Puerto Rican cuisine. Parking is a bit restricted and limited as the little plaza has other businesses and restaurants sharing the parking! The food is amazing with few buts and it's priced just right. However, it was early afternoon and they were already out of some menu items like alcapurrias, which are fan favorites. I had the mofongo with shrimp on "criolla salsa", without the sauce because they ran out of but it had an amazing flavor regardless but I had the remove each shrimp tail every time I had one. If the shrimps are to be inside the mofongo they should be removed before serving if outside then it's okay to leave the tails. It was garlic heavy so get your acid reflux med ready for this one! My husband had the pork pincho with mofongo and he loved it. He said that the meat was moist and with good flavor. My mom had the red snapper and loved it, it was not overcooked or over-fried (if that's even an English term) which she appreciated it. The service was good and friendly and the place was clean. Reason for 4* is mainly for the missing appetizers and main sauce so early in the day given that they close so late. I still recommend the place because the food is good! read more

Stopped in Orlando to rest before heading home and my daughter actually found this restaurant on Yelp. The plaza has a McDonald's sign but it's just a small plaza and it's on the left corner. The spot is small and it does need some work especially the bathroom. The service was great. Our server was very attentive and always checking in on us. The food was amazing but I did want some arroz con gandules but we were told they do not serve that. We were craving some but the Mofongo did hit the spot. It's been some time since I was here but when we were near Orlando and needed a place to eat. The restaurant has gotten larger and so there is more room to eat in. We ordered the mofongo , rice beans, tostones, salmon, shrimp , and chicken . I'll start with the mofongo; it was just perfect, they choose the plantain at the perfect ripeness so that it was not dry and it was very tasty. The pork on a skewer was well done and delicious as was the chicken and shrimp. Pinchos are traditionally street food. You can find them in the Caribbean, and in some large cities in the USA where there is a strong Hispanic presence. The joke with pinchos though, is that you need to eat them and wash them down with some peptobismol. You think it is a joke, right? Well, not entirely unfounded and more like a constant... I have had Willie's on my sight for a while, but I minimize my meat intake so my visits to burger joints, steak houses, and pincho places are few. But today was the day so here I am. I ordered a pork pincho and a cheese empanada. I waited in the lounge area and unfortunately one of the waitresses told me "no more empanadas", so I got a chicken pincho also. I will say, the pork was way better than the chicken, but the chicken was not bad either. The pinchos (skewers) come with a piece of bread, which in my opinion should be more, but traditionally it is what is is. The meat was well cooked, the BBQ sauce was sweet enough on the pork but almost non existent on the chicken. It was good. The place inside looks like an island shack, so it is an interesting place although on the smaller side. read more

Came here on a recent stay in the Orlando area. Looking for an interesting spot to try, and this one was on my radar. We ate inside to ensure we had hot and fresh food instead of trying to bring it back to my mom's home. Server was helpful with the menu options and making suggestions. We chose to share a bunch of items...empanada, pincho, jibarito and a flan. To drink, we both tried the kola champagne. I'd never had one before but knew it was a popular drink in PR. It had a very distinct cream soda taste, on the sweeter side of other sodas I've had. The empanada we chose was hot, crispy and filled with a mild pizza-flavored cheese. Crust was cooked perfectly. The jibarito was a unique take on a sandwich concoction...two fried plantain patties filled with a small churrasco (steak), lettuce, onions, peppers and served with a side of mayo ketchup. the steak was a bit chewy / stringy for my liking but my mom really liked it. The BBQ chicken pincho (grilled skewers) contained several large chunks of all white meat chicken served with french fries and a creamy garlic aioli for dipping or slathering. It was my favorite dish we ate during this meal. For dessert, I had to try their flan...I am a sucker for flan. It was pretty creamy (not as much as others I've had in the past), and the syrup sauce was not very sweet, could have maybe used a bit more for overall flavoring. We had to try this place out while we were on that side of town. We opted for togo so we didn't get the full experience, but we can at least say the pinchos are flippin FANTASTIC. Cooked to perfection! The chicken and pork pinchos are definitely more worth your money. They are HUGE. I couldn't believe how big they were! If you want a flavor explosion, go for the pork. They all came with some garlic bread and were wrapped up in paper plates and paper bags for take out. So so good. I also got a tres leches dessert from their front cooler and that even was amazing. I knocked off one star because I watched a couple BOH employees working with no mask during the pandemic and openly touching their phones and eating food with the same gloves they used to serve guests with. I've heard about Willie's Pinchos from the Spanish radio stations. What I didn't know was that it's right up the street from my cousin's apartment! My other cousin was visiting Orlando and we do our yearly routine of meeting up for dinner. We usually go to Mi Viejo San Juan which is really close by to Willie's but decided to try something different. Willie's is tucked away in a small strip mall and has that classic hick Puerto Rican exterior (I say that with love). Once we got inside, I was immediately enamored by the decor. It has a really cool Rican vibe and I loved the small touches they had all over the restaurant. We were immediately greeted and seated. We ordered the Carne frita with mofongo and the bistec encebollado with mogongo. Both meats are good although I liked the carne frita better. The steak didn't seem fresh to me. You could tell it was re-heated. The monfongo was good though and definitely fresh. It was soft and tasty. The little dude salad would probably have been good if there wasn't a long dark hair in it, which pretty much ruined a good meal otherwise. Ah Pinchos. When I was a kid in Miami, you would see them being sold on street corners from those shiny square tin vendor carts. The enticing aroma filling the air always made me hungry. Back then though pinchos were only a dollar. (I know I'm dating myself) Fast forward to now and apparently 1 pincho, and a side it almost 11 bucks (not including a drink) and if you get the shrimp pincho you only get 3 shrimps... Geez. I think that's my main problem with Willies pinchos. I find the pricing excessive. We were a party of 6, all of us got pinchos except my brother who got a sandwich and with tip it was over $100 for something that is considered to be cheap and filling food. Now; here's the other side of the coin. These aren't your ordinary pinchos. These are really well made, with good quality meat/seafood. AND, if you get tostones as your side, they're legit, not the frozen kind. Also, everything we ate was very well seasoned, and that's important, especially when it comes to eating pinchos. Their menu is varied, and creative, and I can see why a celebrity chef made it a point to come here. Service was also really good. So my persona takeaway from my visit. Would I come here again? I would, yes. Even though I found it expensive, it's like that old saying: 'you get what you pay for' and in this case, it's pretty good. read more

Ok, so if a famous TV Chef approves, it's something you at least have to try, right? And I'm glad we did! I had to ask Jeeves what a Pincho was and from what I can tell, it's food on a skewer usually served with a piece of bread. They nailed it! I was surprised there was table service here as I was expecting counter service only. The service was good as it wasn't overly crowded. Pina Colada - There's no alcohol in it but who cares! It's delicious. Smooth and flavorful and you can have a few of them and still drive home! Chicken Pincho - Wow! What a decent sized skewer of chicken for the price ($3). The chicken was juicy and one side a flavorful carmelization which gave it a crispiness typically not found on chicken without frying. It came out quickly so if you're in a hurry, Pinchos may be the way to go. And the garlic bread was very garlicky! Get that if there's ever a Zombie Apocalypse. Or is that Vampires? Steakstrami Jibarito - This was a mix of steak and pastrami and other toppings between two fried plantains. It was messy to eat but the flavors were amazing. Nice large pieces of folded pastrami.
