La Lechonera serves a large variety of different rice, meats, and traditional sides like Mofongo, Tostones, Plátanos Maduro (Fried Sweet Plantains), Ceviche, desserts and drinks. The cafeteria set up allowed us to see what we were ordering as we walked along and said or pointed at what we wanted. I tried using some of my limited Spanish vocabulary to order our food. We had three plates of food with Fried Rice style rice, Mofongo, Beef, Tostones and Fried Sweet Plantains. For dessert we ordered a White Chocoflan (I don't know if that is the current name) and to drink Passion Fruit Juices. The food was okay. Didn't taste bad but was just okay. The food trays were generously portioned and worth the price - approximately $14. The Passion Fruit Juice was delicious. As one of my favorite juices, I had high expectations. It did not disappoint. I love Chocoflan and only have eaten homemade Chocoflans. This White Chocoflan was delicious. It was not too sweet. Both sides complimented each other well and had a good balance of flavor and texture. We were able to order and pay for our food and drinks in a reasonable time. There is ample parking and indoor seating available for dining in. read more

My friend took me out to eat at this restaurant for lunch. I asked her if it had good reviews and she said that she didn't know. She said she only checked what was on the menu. Upon entering this restaurant I knew that the food was going to be great, because it smelled so good! This restaurant is severed cafeteria style, where you go down the line with different dishes of prepared food on display before you, behind protective glass. A team member on the other side with the food, assists you be gathering together what you point to, as you go down the line. Then they put the food that you pick out into a "to go" container. At the end of the line, you pay for your food at the cash register. Just to make a sure you are aware, a tip is automatically added onto your check when you get to the register. This caught my friend by surprise, because she wasn't aware the tip was included in the receipt until it was too late, and she already paid. You are asked if you want a beverage with your order at the register. You can request a cup of tap water with a lid at this point, but if you don't specify that you want tap water, they may automatically charge you for a bottle of water. They give you plastic silverware with napkins with your meal container. After you pay for your food, you either seat your self at one of their available booths, or you take food with you to go. I got the chicken with white cheese, along with the beans and rice, and I also got some fried plantains. My friend got two dishes with pork and another dish that I can't remember what she called it. My food was so delicious! My friend loved her food as well! The atmosphere here is loud fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the music that they were playing. They also have several large TV's hung from the ceiling. that are playing shows, but I didn't see any closed captioning. The restrooms appear to be just one stall for men, and one stall for woman, and they were kept clean. After I sat down I did see a couple of house flys hanging around our booth. I did see on the wall a sign that said they deliver, but it also said that the minimum order cost for delivery was $300. I'm not sure if this restaurant also partners with meal delivery services. The restaurant is definitely a great place to go and have lots of delicious food! It is also a great place to escape the Florida heat for a little while, as it is kept nice and cool and comfortable inside. read more

We been here in the past and it was okay but we have come twice this month and there has been massive improvements. I especially recommend going in the morning when everything is fresh and well stocked. The staff is sweet and quick. The place itself looks great. We take the food to go but it looks clean inside and worthy of eating there. The food is absolutely delicious. You get a very generous serving. Enough for two or more meals. It's fresh, hot, and flavorful. read more

Came here during work lunch. When you walk in you are overwhelmed with so many options! It took me a bit to figure out what to eat because I wanted everything! I finally settled with the lime pork, mashed plantains and cilantro rice. Everything was so good and the portion was big. I got 2 meals and a snack out of this. lol. Cost was about 15 per box. Great deal. I am coming back here for lunch! read more

I love La Lechonera I didn't realize until recently that they had a location in Altamonte. I ordered a plate of pork, yellow rice and sweet plantain. The food was flavorful and good , but the rice tasted burnt. The service was quick and friendly. The ambiance was busy with ppl dining in and music playing. I would go back here again. read more

If you are craving authentic Latin American cuisine with plate lunches that are loaded with delicious food then this is a great restaurant to try! Everything is plated to go but there is plenty of seating inside if you prefer to dine in. The set up is cafeteria style so you just tell them what you would like and they plate it up right in front of you They are definitely generous with the portions! My plate lunch consisted of pernil (pork) with congri (black rice). The pernil was juicy and had great flavor and the congri was cooked and flavored perfectly. read more

We ordered from here a few nights ago and were blown away. We tried the small dinner plate with pork, the Cuban sandwiches, and the beef empanadas, and everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The portions were huge. The pork was juicy, tender, and perfectly paired with the rice and beans. The Cubans were massive and arrived piping hot, but the empanadas were the real standout for me. They were flaky, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious. We will definitely be ordering again to try more of their menu. read more

This place serves some of the most delicious Latin food around -- tender oxtail, flavorful yellow rice, crispy pork, creamy macaroni salad, and perfectly seasoned mofongo. Everything tastes homemade, the portions are huge, and the prices are unbelievably low for the quality. Truly a hidden gem that deserves way more attention. read more

La Lechonera - The fried rice and the empanadas were amazing - Latin American Near Me - Altamonte Springs, Florida

A HUGE selection of Latin food to choose from. Maybe five different varieties of rice/morro to choose from (though they were out of plain white rice, fifteen minute wait!) We came mid-afternoon, and while I did see some fresh food coming out, some of what was there was looking dry (the chicharrones, in particular.) The lunch special includes a choice of rice, a protein (I got two large honey-glazed ribs) and a vegetable (mashed potatoes with cheese and bacon mixed in for me.) I added a scoop of pinto beans on the rice. The meal was so large, the to-go box containing it wouldn't close. (They have plates for those eating in (which we did), the lady didn't ask us which we wanted.) The ribs were well-cooked and tasty; rice and beans were good, the cheese and bacon didn't help the mashed potatoes much. My wife had trouble getting what she wanted in the pernil department: there wasn't any nice crispy skin left, just either flabby or hard; and she had trouble getting the lady to pick the nice fatty pieces of meat she tried to point out. There was a good variety of desserts too, though the chocolate tres leches I picked didn't change my low opinion of tres leches in general. Counter service. read more

Confusing but worth it. All the food is on display with tv screens of the menu and other information. I docked one star just because I think the food on display could use some labeling. La Lechonera has the best chicharron on this side of town! Juicy, crunch, and savory...it had me and my significant other arguing over the last bite. My box of food was only about $14 and it lasted me two meals. Rice, meat, and plantains were all delicious. I would 100% come back to try other items. read more

Isabella was the sweetest most professional worker. She gave a great portion of food and she was rocking those tooth gems!

Good food but had a server name Grace that was disrespectful and rude don't know if she's having a bad day or what, but she should understand that she is representing the company and not herself like I said food was good but I don't know if I'll go back or can recommend this restaurant just because you might get a server name Grace read more

When you walk right in, it's open and right in front of the ordering line to get your food. Very clean and modern set up. The staff was quick to take your order and did not rush you. The portions are massive! I have enough food to last me for 2-3 days. I love Puerto Rican food so I was super excited to try this place out. I went through the line pretty quick, for what you pay for, price range from $8-$15 for a combo depending on the kind of meat you ask for. Combo consist of your rice, meat, and a side. I had to have multiple sides and I needed crunch from the chicharrón. There is not a lot of seating, so first come first serve. 10/10 would definitely come again. Food was fresh, very generous, and great pricing. read more

There is plenty of seating space. The tables have napkins. This is a Cafeteria Style restaurant. They have a wide variety of Puerto Rican Food. They had a whole roasted pig. Get their around noon on the weekend to get that fresh. It was pretty picked over at 4 pm. The tables were kept pretty clean but could have been better. The Arroz con Gandules was delicious. The roast pork shoulder (pernil) was excellent. Also, the Bistec Encebollado (Steak with Onions) was tender and tasty. For drinks they have some bottled beer and a variety of sodas. read more

As a Puerto Rican, I am always so happy to eat authentic Spanish food, and lechonera is just that! There is a plethora of food to choose from. A variety of different rices, meats, sides and even some bakery items as well. The service is good, and the portions are even better. They close at 8pm, and I would recommend you come earlier, because the closer to closing time it is the less options they have available. Lechonera will always be a go to favorite of mine read more

Am a frequent visitor here cause for the amount of food variations and price you just can't go wrong. To many choices from chicken, beef, seafood and many choices of rice style. I enjoy on chilling days sancocho soup . The girls are always friendly and fast with preparation of meals. The ambience is loud due to many customers being served. Love the new Lechonera location in Altamonte Springs! Their other location on East Colonial is great as well but always extremely busy. This cafeteria-style restaurant has all your Latin favorites. I ordered the pastelon - essentially a Latin lasagna using plantains for noodles, ground beef, and cheese. Delicious! You get alot for your money here, servings are large. Great for a family. This place is fabulous! You get so much bang for your buck here. The food was amazing. I had the chicken, arose con dules ( pardon the spelling Spanish is not like by spell checker) and sweet plantain. The chicken had amazing flavor and was so moist. We also had pork with the same sides it too was very moist and very flavorful. You get so much food here that you can eat several meals off of one order. I finish my dinner with a treat to take home.Guava pastry is was light and flaky with a ton of guava inside and really hit the spot as a morning pastry since I was full from dinner! On another trip we got the beef and chicken empanadas they were flaky and were stuffed with filling. There are two kinds one was traditional and the other was made with a corn crust sticking to the fried beef would be my personal preference! They were very nice the restaurant was clean but most only speak Spanish so if you don't be prepared to use your translation app. This is cafeteria style so there is no one to wait on the tables. read more

Food is always fresh and delicious. I have to brag on this specific location, because twice now I have made a last minute catering order and BOTH times they provided quality without issue! Good food, very good attention to customers. They have the best Puerto Rican pasteles, very consistent flavor and availability. My only issue with them is that they need to be careful with the salt. Out of the 4 times we've eaten there there is always one item that is over salted. Once the fish, then the pork, lastime the pigeon peas and rice. read more

I was looking forward to the Lechonera at this location since I have been to one in a different location further away, and was very disappointed, the food was not hot and the steak that I had was extremely salty. very disappointed. Went in and asked for five ham and cheese sandwiches. The lady in the counter told me in advance that it will take 15 to 20 minutes, which I totally understand they were just opening. sadly, when they handed the sandwiches over, I could immediately tell that they were not properly done, the ham was cold. The cheese was cold and the bread was semi toasted so in other words, I waited almost 30 minutes and because they were in a hurry, they literally just gave me bread, ham and cheese without properly taking the time to ensure the food was hot. There's nothing worse than to expect a good ham and cheese sandwich from Hispanic place and to getit cold. My biggest issue as an ex restaurant owner many years ago is that the person who prepare these new exactly what they were doing and this is why a lot of Hispanic places stay at the level that they're at unfortunately I won't be coming in anymore into this place read more

I placed an order through Postnotes of Uber. I ordered the Lechon, Ribs al carbon, Quajito, and Conch salad. I received the most disgusting food I have ever eaten in my life! I have never ordered a conch salad where the conch was brown and so soft it fell apart in your mouth. These people use canned scungilli! It tasted so nasty I just threw it all away, and I paid 18.00 bucks for that trash! Even if it was surrounded by onion, peppers and other condiments, it had no taste of seafood at all, and certainly no taste of conch! The Quajito was even worse, I have never tasted such a nasty-tasting tripe in my life, it actually made me throw up! I have eaten quajito all over PR and NY, but this is absolute trash! Even the Lechon, for which I paid another $18.00, was nothing more than pulled pork. All their food comes with an overdose of Cilantro and recao! This restaurant would not last a single day in Puerto This food is an insult to Puerto Rican cuisine! This food is nothing but an insult to Puerto Rican cuisine! BTW, I still cannot get that demonic taste and smell of recao out of my taste and stomach! BTW, I did not want to give it a single star, I was forced to to post the review.
