I can't remember the last time I was so badly ripped off. The thing is, sometimes you go to these seedy looking hole in the wall places and find amazing food. It wasn't like that here though. EXPENSIVE!! Almost $12 for an arepa that was ok at best. Their empanadas are small yet they ask $5 for them but the real kicker... check out the pictures of their desserts. Burnt, old, and disgusting. The 2 desserts were $13 with tax and we ended up having to throw them out in the trash. If you've ever read my reviews before, you know that I very rarely leave bad reviews, but this left such a bad impression on me and my family. Waste of money, time, and effort. Avoid. read more

This place has the best Venezuelan arepas in Orlando. I have been going here for years (even when they had a different name) and the quality and flavor has remained constant. My favorite arepa is the Reina Pepiada with chicken, avocado, and cheese. Another favorite is the arepa with carne mechada (shredded beef). If you go to an arepa place, always ask for sauces including the garlic, rosada (pink), spicy or green. They also serve Venezuelan meals like pabellon with rice, beans, shredded meat, sweet plantain, white cheese, and arepa plain. There's also cachapas, tequenos and traditional Venezuelan desserts. One thing they could improve is keeping the tables clean after a customer leaves. The couple times I have dine-in the tables were dirty and I had to ask someone to help us clean them up. This is one of those places where you can go and eat an arepa at midnight. They are open until late. read more

I love arepas and I'm pretty flexible because they are made different. This was disappointing and expensive for what I got. The fillings did not taste fresh and the arepa was not a good size for what it cost. The fillings was done seasoned and tasted bland but the garlic sauce helped it. I asked for potatoes (papas fritas) but they didn't make any and told me my order was ready and rang me up. I asked and the guy said it was in the arepa. Huh ? Okay. I'm new to the wonderful world of Arepas and after having the Arepas at Norma's Plant Based Cuisine in Altamonte, which are entirely vegan, I wanted to try some non-vegan once to compare. Honestly, the vegan ones at Norma's blow these ones away. The ones here had more filling, but the arepa itself wasn't all that great. This one was difficult to eat without a fork, but I appreciated the amount of cheese they put in it. The empanadas were a different style that others I've had, and they're ok. They were hard and not flakey like other empanadas I was excited to try it, the place was pretty busy for the time of day we went, and the food was good, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to eat here again. read more

I didn't know what to expect with my cheese not being melted but it is delicious. My arepa had two types of cheese and chicken. The garlic sauce is the icing on the cake. Used to be good , now they increase all the prices and cut on the size of the meal, the topical Breakfast criollo used to have eggs, now beside the $10,00 dólares the plate you have to pay extra for the eggs. We were in the mood for some arepas and so we came across Arepera La Nueva. What a wonderful find!! As soon as we came in the staff was very friendly and helpful when we were placing our order which was great because my wife doesn't speak Spanish. The restaurant looked like it has just been remodeled and the place looked great. The table spacing was a little tight for my wheelchair but it was manageable and patrons were very friendly and moved as needed. The menu was actually quite extensive with options but we decided to do with the traditional Arepa's. The food was made fresh to order and was prompt to come out after ordering. The arepas were absolutely delicious. Very most yet still firm enough to hold the sandwich together. The meat was seasoned well and was delicious with the white cheese and other toppings. The black beans were also seasoned well and definitely did not come right out of a can. The last time I had such a good arepa was when my friends Abuela (grandmother) made them fresh at home. The restaurant hours are crazy cool (daily 7am to 4am). This would be an amazing end to a night out at the clubs. I would highly recommend them and we will be returning for sure. read more

While we were there my husband asked if they had El Plato Navideño and to our surprise, they said yes! My favorites are the empanada with ground beef which has a sweet corn shell and nicely seasoned meat, cachapa with cheese which is a sweet corn pancake, and pabellón venezolano which is a plate of shredded meat, beans, rice, and plantains. The fact that this place is open until 4am is amazing! They have saved me from so many late night cravings. This review is really only in regards to their arepas. My go-to is their arepa with asado negro and avocado. I always put lots of their house made spicy sauce (salsa picante) on my arepas too. It has a great flavor and is orange colored. If they run out of asado negro (as they very often do), I get pernil (pork) instead. The asado negro has the best flavor since it's marinated. My only complaint is that I wish they would get more asado negro and avocado to actually last them through most of their operating hours. A lot of times they run out many hours before they are scheduled to close. The employees are very nice though. read more

Came here during my school break to try this place out. I pass it every day and I was always curious to see if their arepas were actually good or not. We came in and immediately it was a bit overwhelming. The place is very narrow and every second you have another customer saying "excuse me" to try to squeeze through you. Customer service was horrendous. We had someone that never tried an arepa before and we were trying to explain to her the difference in them and the front clerk seemed annoyed and a bit arrogant. I was recommended to this place by an Orlando local so I was excited to "taste" what the hype was all about. My first turn off was that we walked in at around 11pm, place was not busy, if anything the few people seated were already eating, but, it took the cashier almost 10 min to take our order. Didn't ring us up just took our order. At the end, when we tried to pay, again, not busy and took us forever to pay. Second turn off was how unorganized the employees were and the place was dirty. They use the same utensils in different toppings for the arepas there was food everywhere in between the bowls. You can see them make everything through the glass window, they don't cough away from your food or use gloves. I didn't see any type of hand sanitizer anywhere either. Despite all of that, I was eager to give the food a try. The food was good at best. I had a shredded beef and guyanese cheese arepa and it was just meh. I was hungry so I ate. The arepa didn't feel fresh it tasted like it had been sitting out a while on the grill. The shredded beef was good and they have a garlic sauce that's pretty good too. Other than that I wasn't really impressed. Would I come back? Maybe if i'm in Orlando really late and want a quick bite (they're open until 4am). read more

This is a great place for a late night snack or to satisfy a craving. These arepas are packed with an array of different fillings that can be combined to your liking. I usually get the signature Arepa la Nueva which includes 3 fillings. I tend to gravitate towards the pollo mechado (shredded chicken), queso guayanes (similar to a grainer mozzarella or queso fresco) and avocado. It does help to ask if they have avocado before getting your heart set on it as they do run out occasionally. I also get a small order of the sweet plantains which come hot and perfectly caramelized and a postabon (apple soda) to complete the meal. An extra side of the garlic (white sauce) is a MUST TRY It's simple food but delicious all the same. read more

The station where you order looks like it was a piece of furniture that has been repurposed. Makes ordering a little awkward because of a bar that blocks your view of who is taking your order. You keep wanting to look above or below the bar. On my first visit, I had an arepa. Not knowing what an arepa is I ordered it with beef, pork and ham. It was delicious. I put a little sauce they have on the counter on my arepa sandwich, just to kick it up a notch. On my second visit I had a bowl of chicken soup. This bowl is bigger than my head. In my picture I put some sunglasses in the background for reference. The soup was hot, had an actual chicken thigh in it along with some Latin root vegetables. Since the new, awful rule on food trucks closing early, its great that this stand-alone location is open late. I was a little too inebriated when I went but I recall it satisfied my arepa craving, though the shrimp was fairly unexciting. My boyfriend, who is Venezuelan/Colombian, thought it was pretty legitimate. And they have my fave apple soda-postobon manzana and avena. I'm giving it a good review based on what he felt and what I apparently felt in my instagram story from that night. They didn't seem to mind my savagery so props for that.
