By far the best tacos hands down for tripas. I asked them to make them well done and let me tell you, they were perfectly made. Ambiance: It's a very quiet as no one is here currently. The ladies were nice and helpful. The only reason I gave it one less star is, the first time I came here two days ago they did not have the chorizo available. I opted for the Al pastor and it was not that great, maybe a 5 in taste. But everything else was pretty good.
We are huge fans of their second location, Tacos Tijuana Cantina, and love going there, so we decided to try out the original location! I found the tacos here to be just OK. To me, they seemed to be lacking flavor. I ordered the asada, pollo, and carnitas tacos. However, my fiancé said his food was good. He ordered a lengua vampiro taco, and a tripa taco. I like that they have a section of sauces and toppings for our tacos, I feel like you don't see those as much anymore since Covid! I tried a variety of their sauces on my tacos, and they good! But overall, I do like the food at their second location more. The restaurant was clean, and it seems popular because there were quite a few customers coming in and out. There is quite a bit of seating for a typical Mexican fast-food kind of place. Our server/cashier was helpful with and answered the questions we had about the menu, and she was very friendly as well.
I love this place! I've gone every weekend since I found them! The mulas are amazing! If you haven't been here you are missing out! Perfect flavor and perfect spice!
This place has some really good tacos. Stopped by for dinner and was not disappointed. A little different than street tacos from San Diego but still good. I got some asada and pastor tacos which were both nice. Pastor was definitely the better tasting imo and they give you pineapple if you want it. I was not really fond of the tortilla for the Assad tacos as it was super thick and fluffy. I much prefer the two thin tortillas as they aren't as filing. They usually come with guac and salsa but I only go with onions and cilantro. It did take a min to get 6 tacos from the drive through on what looked like a slow night. There are some nighttime creatures about you can watch to kill the time. Also it's a little tight in the drive through if you have a truck. Watch out for the bollard on the left when your turning to the window.

Well, I have Rawger C to thank for the maiden voyage and my intro to this amazing taqueria, mulas and vamipiros! What are these taqueria specialties you ask? Well, pure magic. A mula takes two handmade tortillas, adds cheese and then slaps that down on the griddle to get melty and crisp while the tortillas stay tender, before it's stuffed with the meat of your choice. Think a quesadilla sandwich! Vampiros are similar with a crisper tortilla on the outside. You can't go wrong with either one, nor the tacos or anything here. They start with handmade tortillas, so that's pretty special. Most recently I had a vampiro de cabeza that blew my mind. Cabeza is all of the meat from around a cow's head, and it's usually rich and fatty, with some meat mixed in because the bulk of the meat comes from the cheek. Well I will be ordering cabeza over and over again here because I am pretty sure cabeza at Tacos Tijuana means cheek and beef cheek is friggin delicious. Check out the photo of the inside of this vampiro! The other thing not to miss here are the grilled onions and jalapeños they serve on the side. You can eat these plain or add them to your meal. Regardless they're fire! Don't skip the salsa either. If you don't like spice though, get it on the side because both the red and green are packed with flavor but a little on the hot side. It's no wonder this place is so beloved. If you haven't been, get there!
Great portion for the price. The corn tortillas are very good (I think it's handmade which makes it even better). I come here twice a week b/c I just be craving good tacos and so far this is the best taco place in Sparks to me.
Craving the Chile rellenos... So decided to stop and pick up and also get two extras! Mild and so cheesy! I don't eat them often, but with these, I can! Haven't tried anything else, but on the next trip!
Just paid $18.00 to have carne asada fries delivered with.... No carne asada? That's a dealbreaker, will not be ordering again that's for sure.......... not cool.....
For the longest time, I have been told about this establishment. When trying to think of local businesses to order from for my birthday , this is the first one to come to mind. I found them on DoorDash. I knew I wanted tacos, but I also wanted to try something else. The mulas sounded good, so I tried the asada. I also got the asada, pollo, and carnitas tacos. Ordered some limes and the jalapeño /carrots. Some of the best mexican food I ever had!!! The mulas are fabulous!
Update!!! During this pandemic, I'm sad to say we are on the hunt for a new taco spot. We have decided to no longer support Tacos Tijuana, too many times we've received hit or miss service and it pains me because their food can be great. The problem with them is consistency. I may visit today and have a great experience only to come back and have a terrible one tomorrow. We've had awesome flavored food and burnt to the crisp meat, never a consistent medium. I've been here at least 20 times in the last two years and it's 50/50. I kept going back because I made excuses, maybe their head cook was not there, maybe they were short staffed, etc. But excuses no more. Last night I went through the drive through as they do not allow in restaurant service thanks to Covid. When I got my order I asked if that was everything and they said yes. Granted, they triple knotted the bag so I was foolish and took their word for it. I got home in Spanish Springs, about 15-20 minutes away and some of the order was missing. I immediately called and let them know, the girl was nice and understanding and manually entered my card number to refund the missing item but like I told her, this wasn't the only time it had happened and while I had let it go previously, how much more letting go is needed?! For this reason, I am updating this review. It's gone from a previously 4 to a 2. And 2 only because what we had was fine and the lady on the phone was pleasant. On a typical visit here, we order tacos and mulas and we typically stick with al pastor and suadero. These are our two favorites here and on this visit, they did not disappoint! I had tacos de suadero (which is a beef) and an al pastor (spicy pork) mula made with a corn tortilla. The suadero was perfectly tender and the al pastor was not overly crispy nor undercooked, it was just right! I recommend having the mula with a corn tortilla because it's such a better combination. While the meat was cooked just right, I have to be really picky because I know what I like and what I ordered. I asked for no cilantro yet my mula was full of it. My daughter had tacos de al pastor and only 2 of the 3 had the guacamole salsa. Wow !! I was leery about trying this spot in Sparks, but still drawn by Rawger and Katie's reviews. So recently after a UYE at the Food Bank, I met a friend here for lunch. Still not totally sure what to expect, but wanting the Vampiro. We walk in and head towards the back. The girl welcomes us and reads the slight confusion on our faces. I wished I knew her name. She was one fabulous employee!! She asked if this was our first time in. We said yes, then she smiles and fully explains that we order with her and pay, pick up a tray to our right, watch our food being freshly prepared, pick it and head to the condiment bar to top. So easy. She also answered all our questions about the menu. Again fabulous employee. Al pastor vampiro and a chicken taco was my choice. I heard tales of cheese melted on the griddle, topped with a crisp house made shell and meat. This IS what I wanted. The outer crunch followed by the cheesy goodness was heaven. The al pastor with pineapple was an explosion of spice and sweet. So much meat, pieces tried to sneak out. The chicken taco was also piled with plenty of tender chicken and delicious. I liked the four sauce choices, fresh cilantro, salsa and even lime slices offered at the condiment bar. Two tacos, two vampiro - the bill was $17. They offer a drive thru, but I would go in so I could top my order my way. Plenty of parking. Totally not in my usual neighborhood, but the vampiro is a new craving. And I heard I need to try the mula.
It was my first time visiting this location and for the most part it was good. Don't get me wrong, I liked it and would come back if the opportunity presented itself. I think in general there was nothing that WOW'd me about this location. The tacos were simple, good meat with flavor and there was a topping bar where you can add jalapeños, salsa, radish etc. The establishment seemed very authentic, clean, and casual. I would recommend this if you're looking for some authentic, simple, original tacos.

This place has been Taco-Jo'd This is my go-to spot for anything al pastor, especially the tacos and mulas! (If you haven't had a mula before, it's like a perfect taco/quesadilla fusion.) And if you're like my husband and love a good crunch factor, definitely go for the vampiros! What makes this place stand out is that it was the first restaurant I discovered that makes al pastor the authentic way- on the trompo. The flavor is always spot on: juicy, perfectly seasoned, and topped with just the right touch of pineapple. I've been coming here for years, and the food has been consistently delicious every single time. The staff is always friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even better. I personally love their Prater location, it's a small, cozy spot, but it always feels welcoming. read more

This place has some really good tacos. Stopped by for dinner and was not disappointed. A little different than street tacos from San Diego but still good. My roots are back in South Texas near the Mexican border. In that area, there are restaurants constantly battling it out for the best taco around. To no surprise I can tell you that I've had some of the best tacos known to man. Here in Nevada that's a total different story, although we have some decent places, there aren't a lot of "good" traditional street tacos in this area. Traditional meaning, with a good home made corn tortilla or hand made flour tortilla. Here at El Original Tacos Tijuana I found myself eating some pretty damn good tacos. Meats cooked in their rich juicy fatty goodness. No skimping in the flavor area at all. We got the tripas(beef intestines)cooked to your liking, crunchy or soft. Beef head with cheek meat and all. Buche meat is out of this world, pastor with grilled pineapple, and an all around favorite; carne asada. All these delicious meats cooked to perfection, you can't go wrong with any of them. Ask for the home made tortillas, nothing wrong with the packaged kind that come standard with your taco but if you want the traditional street taco experience ask for the home made corn tortillas. You will taste the difference. I ask for all the toppings on the side; I prefer grilled onions, cilantro and grilled jalapeños. Their salsas are pretty legit too. The green salsa is the spiciest. It tastes like spicy serranos, the red salsa has a hint of lemon. I love that they keep their salsas, limes, and radishes on ice; then taste nice and fresh. Give this place a try. The ladies in the kitchen are super nice. Love love the service here. read more
El Original Tacos Tijuana 2201 Prater Way, Sparks, NV 89431 March 11, 2020 Wednesday - 5:00 PM for dinner 2 Adults Atmosphere -4 stars Dinner - 4 stars Service - 4 stars Background - Dinner before some beers over at Piñon Bottle Sparks. Atmosphere - Strange fast food place. The pair of front doors in the entrance become a wind tunnel on a windy day, which I noticed today. Typical fast food you order with cashier but the kitchen is on the other side of the place. Food Dinner - If you read my reviews you know I love trying new things. I ordered a Taco Azteca, just because it has cactus. I determined it was just there for me. No fault of the business. I also ordered the Campechana Fries, yeah that was a mouthful for me. They were excellent except one flaw, it is like carne asada fries taken to another level. The only downside was the fries good have been cooked much longer, probably a minute for my taste. All sauces made the fries too soft for my liking. Service - Strange here also, you order and have to take your ticket to the cooks. With computers today the receipt could print in the kitchen. I know that is more money for the business but it flows so much better for everyone. Signs everywhere saying they are not responsible for someone else getting your food. What! Really? The place was very slow so we were able to get our food without issue. Future - Like to try some meat tacos as this visit was all about new stuff. read more
This place used to be so good but for some reason it just went down hill. We got the tacos de lengua and tacos al pastor and both were so bland. Absolutely no seasoning at all. We ate it all cause we were so hungry but I wished I would have gone elsewhere. The asada fries were better but still lacking flavor too. The best thing was the grill onions and jalapeños. The girl at the drive through misheard our order as well so she gave us 2 asada fries so now we are stuck with 2 orders of boring and tasteless fries. Disappointment is an understatement. read more
Sooooo yummy! Some of the best tijuana style tacos I've had in Reno. Definitely recommend the Al pastor vampiro. It was delicious. I ordered through Yelp and picked up through the drive thru. I was happy that the food was ready when the expected pickup time was. read more
Been coming to El Original Tacos Tijuana for a HOT min but haven't written a review. Well today's the day lol. Back in the days you were aloud to go inside this restaurant but this ended and now it's only drive thru. I try and go around 4pm and usually the line isn't that bad but I've been in the drive thru around 5pm and it's packed. That's the only downfall is waiting in the drive thru. My go to items are Al Pastor Vampiro and Al Pastor Mula. Mula's are made with two corn or flour tortillas, al pastor, yummy cheese and slapped together. This bad boy is stuffed to the max and it's sooo tasty!! This place has the best al pastor hands down. If there's other places PLEASE reach out to me and let me know because al pastor meat is my FAV! They have other meats as well if you aren't an al pastor lover like myself. So do yourself a favor and try out a mula or vampiro with whatever meat you like and trust me you'll be thanking me later. read more
First of all, no reflection on the restaurant itself and this isn't reflected in my rating, but this was the first place that popped up on Yelp while searching for "BURRITOS" and there are no burritos. To be fair we were in a hurry so we didn't double check the menu, but c'mon Yelp!!! I didn't end up ordering or eating anything from here but my boyfriend still decided to try a few tacos. You order and pay at one counter then take your receipt to another counter where they will make your food. They have signs up stating not to sit down and risk missing your order because they're not responsible for someone else taking it. Fair enough I guess. It wasn't packed and still seemed to take a long time for the tacos but it wasn't the absolute worst. My boyfriend's review is that it's just "A-OK". He said it's not his first choice, he'd rather go to one of our fave spots or try out another new place before coming back, but that he'd maybe come again and give the drive thru a try since he didn't like the ordering set up inside or the wait, but the tacos themselves were A-OK. read more
We were driving by and saw a sign on the side of a building that said "El Orginal Tacos Tijuana" on it and decided to try it out and was not disappointed. We ordered a variety (pollo, al pastor, asada, & chorizo). The tortillas were all homemade and tasty. The service was quick. We ordered 9 total and with drinks was only $23. - The chorizo was amazing and I don't typically eat chorizo, so that's saying a lot. My husband said the al pastor had the most flavor (it came with pineapple). They had a bit too much guacamole for the size of the tacos would be my only criticism. - We will be eating here again for sure. read more
Awesome tacos and an even better salsa to top off the spicy kick! We ordered 2 tacos and a vampiro. The tacos were stuffed to the brim with meat, a guacamole spread, onions and cilantro. There was a short line at the drive, we waited under 10 minutes for our food, the service was great I highly recommend this place! read more

Was craving some tacos last night, and stopped by the taco spot to see if the tacos were really "Tijuana style" and to my surprise the carne asada tacos had the authentic grilled meat flavor that you get in Tijuana. I didn't get a chance to take a picture but they were definitely better than the Al pastor tacos. When I first got my Al pastor tacos I immediately thought they had made a mistake and given me chorizo tacos instead but I was wrong, this is how their Al pastor tacos are. The flavor was not what I'm used to for authentic Al pastor so I would not recommend these Al pastor tacos, but I would recommend the carne asada tacos with everything on it. It took about 15 minutes in the drive thru to get our order, so expect to be in line for a bit. Also the speaker at the drive thru barely works.. read more
One day I was on the hunt for the best carne Asada fries I could find in the Reno, Sparks area I was driving in. El Original Tacos Tijuana surprised me with their super clear menu. You'd be surprised how not confused and unsure you can't be when you see it! The asada fries I got were fresh, hot and delicious. My asada wasn't chewy! I don't like chewy meat.. The meat was slightly charred and cooked fresh too! They also have a nice fresh cart of salsas and limes you can use and take home. All I'm saying is, if you're looking to try something new or want some asada fries like me. Go and try them out! I'm sure you won't be disappointed. read more
Some of the best tiny tacos places are near my home in Sparks, and I've passed El Original Tacos Tijuana for a while. Don't let the road construction (welcome to N. NV!) scare you away, these are some muy delicioso tiny tacos! Clean and attractive inside, but yes, the ordering line is a bit confusing. I ordered directly from the cashier since my entire order was to go, and it worked out OK. Not the cheapest tiny tacos we've had, but they didn't skimp on the meat either. They offer some old standbys of meat selections, and the ones we ordered were all pretty good! I love that they offer a few items that most taquerias don't, like fresh sopes, mulas (think a well-stocked tostada with a tortilla lid) and vampiros, a taco with a cheesy, crisp, griddled shell...the stuff dreams are made of! Oh, and FRESHLY pressed tortillas!!! They make all the difference! I loved my order so much, I went back a few days later and reordered the same, and that order was, well...pretty greasy, and I can't believe I'm about to say this...soggy with too much cheese. Different day, different cook? Hit or miss, maybe...I'll try again to be sure. A lunchtime Mexican escape at El Original Tacos Tijuana's! The staff was very friendly, from the server to the cooks. Very simple menu which I love! But I still had questions, the cashier was very helpful and recommended the lengua which is her favorite... well, I'm not there yet but soon! I decided on the Asada Vampiro, so delicious! I wasn't sure how to eat it, as it was two crunchy tortillas sandwiching a generous portion of asada and cheese, so I split them and ate like tostada's! 2-for-1! HAHA YUM! My lunch pal had the Pastor Tacos w/pineapple... again very generous with the meat! We shared the Campechana Fries - fries with half pastor & half asada (you can choose the 2 different meats), smothered in sour crème and guacamole... in my opinion it was a little too much smother, I just scraped it over to the side, they were still delicious! This is a brand new experience for me... but I will definitely go back for some vampiro's and yes, maybe even try the lengua next time :-/!! Don't let the corner hole in the wall café fool ya!
