I've been here before, when they started with only a dirt lot and a few tables. Luckily conditions outside have improved, it's now concrete and tables with umbrellas. Today I stepped up and was turned away because they had a huge take out order and that was all they could handle at the time. So I walked around and returned only to find the outdoor seating was packed, so I left and was in search of another Mexican restaurant. I walked downtown from there and was excited that there was a recently added Taqueria. But there was a sign stating that they would return at 2:40 . The time was about 2:20 so I took a short walk to waste time until they returned. Well it was past 2:40 and there was no one in that restaurant. So I walked back to the Pink Taco Shop and found there was seating and so I placed my order, two carnitas tacos and one Pastor. I was hoping for refried beans and they only prepare black beans, so I reluctantly ordered the black beans. So I sat and waited probably 20 minutes for my food and found the tacos to be average and the black beans to be quite under seasoned, bland, bland, bland ! I will say that the girl at the counter was very nice. But after this experience I'll probably return to my favorite Latino restaurant. I realize this is a small business, locally owned and I prefer patronizing local, but this was disappointing to say the least. My second review and I had hoped I'd be pleased this time around.

This is a cute little hidden gem in an alley. I know it might seem sketchy but it's really not! They have a covered outdoor patio seating. Service was fine, the cashier was nice and tacos came out quickly but I've heard that they can be super busy so might be a good idea to call ahead. I ordered the pastor, asada, and fish tacos. It all tasted delicious but the fish tacos were by far my favorite of the three. It was fried to a crispy perfection and the sauce that they drizzle on top was amazing! Some of the best fish tacos in town for sure! Can't wait to come back for some more fish tacos and to try some of the others.
Still a great meal. We especially like the cheeseburger taco - it's definitely inventive. Asada also very good. Posada was a little saltier than I remember but not going to affect my five stars. They've done a nice job with their patio with tables, umbrellas and a canopy. Still recommend carrying your plates over to Pinion Bottle and enjoy your food with local craft beer. Will try other menu items next time, it all looks delicious coming out.
Taco Shop is one of those hidden gems you're so glad you found. Tucked inside a bright pink house behind Death & Taxes, this family-owned and operated spot has tons of charm and even better food. The vibe is fun, welcoming, and full of personality. If you go, the unconventional cheeseburger tacos are an absolute must-order. They sound unexpected, but they're seriously delicious and totally worth the hype. Great people, unique menu, and a memorable setting--this little pink house delivers big flavor.
Great spot for tacos especially in warmer weather (but they do have covered seating for windy/colder days). We got carnitas, fried fish, and asada. The fish tacos are my favorite (fried fish with a zesty slaw, so good) Service is friendly.
I have to say, they have one of the best fish tacos I've ever had. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the pickled red cabbage was the perfect addition. The flavors were well balanced, and every bite was delicious. I'll definitely be coming back for more!

Look for the pink doors. Great little spot that feels like you found a lovely secret. Veggie Tacos: So far I've had the veggie tacos and the Al pastor tacos. The veggie tacos are cauliflower and pickled onion. Good flavor but I do advise that you get a side of avocado and grilled peppers to enhance the flavor. Note the grilled peppers are grilled whole jalapeños. I had a bite of jalapeño and a bite of taco back and forth and loved it. Al Pastor Tacos: The Al pastor tacos have enough spice to make your mouth sing with sensation, but not so much spice that you want to drown it out with slices of bread. The pieces of pineapple inside were a welcome flavor balance and appropriately portioned. Still I wanted more pineapple. Taco quality: Tacos were very full but not completely overflowing. I will say that these tacos aren't the best I've ever had but they are absolutely the best for the price point. Tacos better than this are double the price and in a swanky place. Don't skip this place! You will love your meal. Service: Order at a counter and they will bring your food out to you. Pro tip: get the food to go and walk across the street to Pinon to pair it with a nice beer. You're in for a great dinner. Bathrooms: No bathrooms but if you take my Pinon suggestion they have bathrooms you can use.
Good tacos, no bano, no buena. Good food served fast and outdoor seating in a tent with heaters. Tacos with several choices of meat. Carnitas and Al pastor were both wonderful. Also serve burritos, nachos and tortas. Have a seat they'll bring it to you! We might go back for the tacos because they were so good. But they need a bathroom of some sort.

I like cauliflower and apple tacos since the flavor is unique. They are better to eat right away, otherwise the tortilla gets a little soggy. The service is fine, but orders can take some time if there is a line of people.
This is the first time I've been. Came here with a few friends before heading to a concert. The atmosphere is laid back and super chill. It definitely reminds me of a place I would visit in Mexico. The seating is all outdoors. The staff was friendly and the line moved fast. The tacos were very good! Lots if meat and flavor was on point.
I love the Taco Shop!! I moved away but am in town for a short visit and this is on my list of must eat fooooods while I am here. I got in Sunday but they're closed Sundays and Mondays so I have had to wait and hooray!!! The wait is over! Delicious tacos made by nice people and outdoor dining, my favorite things! What more could you ask for?? (Me: open every day!!)

I have been here a few times and had the more traditional tacos, but I had a recent recommendation that I had to try the cheeseburger tacos. They are like In-N-Out on a tortilla! Fresh cooked ground beef, melted cheese, lettuce, and special sauce. SO good!
Cheeseburger tacos add avocado (1.75$) so yummy!! When my husband used to bring these to me at work he just had the meat mixed with cheese and no toppings... come to find out they come with tomatoes (and lettuce maybe something else which I don't want!) and you can add avocado! Excellent tacos even though the tortillas are nothing special, it still comes together perfectly. On this visit my best friend ordered the nachos which come with avocado and she wondered if you can have guacamole instead which they wouldn't sub out... so that's kind of disappointing. They were still good she said but prefer guacamole whereas I prefer avocado so it is too bad when peoples tastes are different it just seems like an easy switch but I don't know! Still a fave for delicious unpretentious tacos in Reno. read more

I tried this place on recommendation of family members and the number of favorable reviews. Let me get right to it. I ordered two fish tacos, and chips and dip with a bottle of coke. Things i liked: - tacos had good flavor. I'm not an avocado fan but i put some pico from my chips and dip on top and that was a nice add. The pickled cabbage on the bottom was goid (maybe a tad too much cabbage) and the taco sauce was good - the pico was excellent. Not bland like other places. They added just the right amount of salt and jalapeno to give it a little kick. Things that could be done better: - tacos are fried, like baja style. I wish they had a grilled option. - fish was lost in the breading. Easily two parts breading to one part fish - they don't offer a combo plate with rice and beans. That will cost you an extra $6 each making the sides as expensive if not more expensive than the taco. - coke was bottled so no refills but at least it was reasonably priced ($3.25). - ambiance leaves much to be desired. They literally front an alleyway. There is no parking in front. You have to fend for yourself on the street. There is scant seating on the patio. - the patio has blocked views on 3 sides and the one view they do have is of the alleyway and a parade of WM dumpsters. There is also a very noticeable contingent of homeless in that area literally walking past you in the alleyway. This is not The Taco Shops fault but mentioned here because it can be distracting. - Because the patio is walled on three sides it is like an oven. It was over 90 degrees when i stopped and it was a bit stifling on the patio. Maybe a fan or misters would help. Net net it was a tasty lunch but one should expect food truck like setting. Not a sit down place in the A/C with table service and refillable drinks. If i lived or worked close by and could walk over for a takeout meal i would probably have a more favorable review. read more

I was very disappointed with the Carne Asada Tacos that I ordered for takeout. The meat was obviously a low-grade beef cut because it was loaded with meat tenderizer, a lot of black pepper and spices and it was chopped up into small pieces. The cilantro was not fresh and the small piece of lime was yellowish instead of green. I did call several times to inform the manager that I was not able to eat their tacos and I finally was able to speak with someone who was nice and offered to refund me for the $8.60 purchase. This was my experience and I felt that I should share it with other Yelpers. I hope that they improve their taste quality and wish them well. read more

If you're looking for the best fried fish tacos in town, drop everything and get yourself to this unassuming little shack by the side of the road. No frills, no indoor seating, no fancy plating, just pure taco magic served under the open sky. The fish tacos? Next level. Perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy and tender inside. The batter is light but still has that satisfying crunch, and they're topped with fresh slaw, creamy sauce, and a little squeeze of lime that pulls it all together. Now for the twist: my boss (of all people) told me that I had to go and try the cheeseburger taco. I was skeptical. A cheeseburger... in a tortilla? Sounded like a gimmick. It's not, it's genius! Sure, I was curious about the controversial "cheeseburger taco" and that's why I gave them a try. But seriously folks, Taco Shop is much more than that. YES the cheeseburger taco WAS all that; a wonderfully concocted melange of In-and-Out components that delivers a delicious cheeseburger flavor fest via tortilla. But it was the standards that rocked; crispy fish tacos with a tangy house slaw and epic chicken tacos all priced reasonably and perfectly matched with a cold Jarritos. Darn near perfect to pre-game here before sliding into Death and Taxes and/or Curse of Cane. Served hot and fresh with great service - it's time to get your tacos on!!! read more

Oh my HECK ! So tasty and will NEVER eat fish or veggie tacos anywhere else! Fish tacos were made exactly how they should be. Crispy, tasty and tangy sauce drizzle not SOAKED. Crisp slaw. Yess Veggie tacos SO creative and YUM. Both are a MUST TRY. read more
I stopped by the Taco Shop around 5:30 PM on a Friday and was pleasantly surprised by the short wait. Our food was ready within 10 minutes of ordering. I went with the veggie tacos, which are made with a unique cauliflower and green apple combo. I really enjoyed the flavor. The green salsa on the side was a nice touch: medium spicy and tangy, probably thanks to the tomatillos. Each taco came on a single tortilla, which held up well but didn't quite fill me up the way three double-tortilla tacos usually do. Still, the quality and creativity of the filling made up for it. There's only outdoor seating available, but they've got a shaded area with a tarp and a few tables that make it comfortable enough. Overall, a solid spot for a quick and flavorful veggie taco fix. read more

Incredible food!! Simple me u, outdoor and indoor dining available, only challenge is parking can get to be a bit of a challenge during peak hours. Can't recommend enough!! read more

I used to enjoy this place but the only thing they have done lately is raise the prices and lower their service and standards. It is remarkable that a local small business would let their employee treat customers so poorly. I ordered and paid for my food and left a tip in the bowl. This is where anything resembling "service" ended. The cashier rudely asked me not to wait near the fenced off area between the bar in front of them and their patio. It was before 2 pm and the Curse of Cane not only had NO customers, but NO employees were there since the bar doesn't open until 5 pm. I later went to the front and looked in all of the windows just to ensure the building was empty. What does appear to block the pathway between the businesses? Well, the Taco Shop's lights and door that blocked about half of the walkway. 9see pictures) The two sets of customers that stood there reading the menu until it was their turn to order and a couple that sat on the retaining wall waiting for their food to come out. (see photos) It was just me that had the potential to block the make-believe staff of Curse of Cane. Of interest, I am familiar with the staff of Curse and when I went in the same night, they told me they did not come to work until after 4:30 that day and used the front door to enter the bar. After such an abrasive interaction with the cashier I no longer want anything to do with this place. I am not sure if the food was good or not because I threw it away without eating a single bite. I did notice that they served an order of fish tacos without any lime or lemon so I wouldn't have enjoyed them anyways. read more

In all my years living in Reno, I had no idea this place even existed. It's in an alley way off of center street. All outdoor seating. They have a wide variety of food including tortas, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, etc. This family owned spot was perfect for a weeknight date. read more

Taco Shop is always on point. The ambiance is always great during the day or night there are always plenty of seats. The tacos are always done right, always tasty, and fresh. The service from staff and or owners is always caring, and care is taken with each transaction and order. I probably should come back and get some more tacos already. :) read more
Wow 1st time here. I don't know why I waited so long to come here . Seen and heard good things . Tiny little spot off alley behind Death & Taxes- Midtown. Great outdoor seating patio area. I got the 3 for $10 El pastor and 2 for $7 Carne asada . As you can see from pics very good portion of meat. So far for me best Pastor I have had so far in Reno. Very flavorful and perfect amount of chunks of pineapple. Great red and green sauces too. Asada was well cooked and delicious as well. The only bummer is you can't mix and match the tacos hence why i ordered 3 and 2. Had some chips and guacamole too. Guacamole was very fresh and tasty. Definitely will be going back . Enjoy !!!! read more

I work 3 minutes from the Taco Shop and it did not disappoint. It's located in the alley next to Death & Taxes. Outside seating only. Adorable set up in a white building with pink French doors. I ordered 3 carne asada tacos with both the red and green salas and a tamarind Jarritos to go. The tacos were super flavorful, with a ton of meat topped with white onion, cilantro and accompanied by a lime. Both the salsas were tasty and had a nice kick. Super authentic delicious food, friendly service and super cute ambiance! Will definitely be returning to try all the things and will be recommending/bringing all my friends and family! read more

This spot is delicious! I haven't found carne asada tacos better than these in the Reno area. This is a regular stop for street tacos. You won't be disappointed. read more
