finally a Taco shop opened in this area, The shopping center located on a busy corner of Longley and McCarren. Expectations, although the service was impeccable the veggie and chicken options were not. Price is avg for a taco at 2.50, we got a couple tacos; chicken and potato something. Do not recommend either, pastor and chicken is flavorless and was shredded. I even asked if it was grilled at the least. Loaded Nachos were okay left a lot to be desired especially for $15.00. chicken was at least grilled but again no flavor. cheese was at least nacho cheese, jalapeño's were not fresh either. they have many other meat options but I either don't eat them or don't have any desire to try them. Hopefully they improve.

Always big burritos. The interior is pretty small so I generally order mine for pick up. The flavor is always on point and doesn't disappoint when I introduce it to my friends.

Fried shredded beef tacos (aka taqueria) w/ beans and rice.

Solid little taco shop in our neighborhood. Been meaning to try it since it opened several months ago and I'm glad we finally did. Ordered the breakfast torta and an order of 5 fried shredded beef tacos or taquitos that came with rice and beans. Both were packed with flavor. The tacos, though simply prepared, were very crispy and topped with a tasty blend of shredded lettuce, crema, and cojita cheese. The torta is absolutely loaded with a variety of meats, and topped with an egg just to reassure you it counts as breakfast (or any time really)! The service was fine, quick and polite to take my to-go order. It took a few minute longer than expected, but the authentic quality and taste will remind you some things are worth waiting a little longer. There's only seating for a couple families inside this no-frills little shop, so likely plan to order ahead for pickup or take out. Regardless, the space is clean and inviting for the time you are there. Will definitely be back to try any combination of the 20 or so options they have on their menu. Most items are between $10-15.

Formerly a taco truck (and a highly regarded one, at that), Tacos La Bufa just opened in the old Lunchbox location on Longley and I'm thrilled to have them in the neighborhood! Tried them for the first time today, ordering six different large tacos; namely: asada, lengua, buche, tripitas, flor de calabaza and huitlacoche. And what a treat these were! The tacos come neatly prepared with sliced radish, marinated onions, grilled peppers, limes and either spicy or mild salsa (I had the mild, which was a salsa verde with nice bite to it). Two corn tortillas supply an ample foundation to this feast. The asada was juicy, albeit a standard preparation, the lengua was both tender and flavorful. The tripitas (or buche...not sure as we inhaled these so quickly), however, was outstanding! Fatty, juicy, tender little nuggets of offally goodness, I could scarf down a good half dozen of these! (Side note: I plan to go back tomorrow to clarify if these were indeed tripitas tacos and I'll update accordingly.) And what I think was the buche was a crispy little treat as well. The flor de calabaza was outstanding. Tart, soft and melt-in-your-mouth tender, these lightly sauteed veggie tacos blew my mind. Who knew rabbit food tacos could be so dang good?!? The huitlacoche was tasty in its own right, providing a musty, heady mess of corn smut and onions. What excites me so much is that these guys aren't doing old taqueria standards, they're reaching for new heights with exciting ingredients, flavors and preparations. I'm excited to return and try more!

The hunt for a go to taco in South Reno will continue. I wanted to get a good representation of flavors so I ordered three separate tacos. The tacos are average size for the $2.50 price and are filled with a fair amount of meat. First, I tried the asada. The meat was flavorless. Luckily, lunch came with a salt pack, I think intended for the chopped radish, but served well on the asada taco. The tortillas were fried and warm, and did not fall apart while eating as many do. Doused in a generous amount of salsa verde, the taco was ok. Second, I ate the carnitas taco, which followed the theme of no seasoning. After a squeeze of lime and more salsa verde, there was nothing notable about the taco, but down the hatch it went. Last, I enjoyed the chicharrón taco. I had asked the young man taking my order what chicharrón was. His answer was an expression of "I don't know" and he said it was beef, pressed. Haha, I am pretty sure what I got was pork belly. This taco did not require any additions to give it zest and I enjoyed each bite. They do offer many other meat options, including tripitas, intestine. I couldn't bring myself to try this here.

First off, huge shoutout to the staff at both locations. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a group of about 12 showing up and ordering at different times, plus another large party there, and they handled it all really well. The patio has such a great Midtown vibe, and I'm always happy supporting local small businesses. We ordered a little bit of everything: ribeye gorditas with homemade tortillas, street tacos, quesadillas, loaded papas, elote, and I even attempted the AYCE tacos. The carnitas was some of my favorite in town, the guac was delicious, and my friend loved the skirt steak tacos. Plus, the three salsas they serve are all so good. Tacos are always subjective, but I'd absolutely recommend giving Ana's a try because there's something for everyone on the menu. The cocktails are fun too, and I'll definitely be back.

I was glad that I did finally drop in. Located in a little strip mall on Valley Road, it's an unassuming place from the outside. The inside is small, but comfortable and it felt very "homey". When I walked in, the first thing that hit me was the smell of delicious food wafting through the air. The tastes did not disappoint. We were greeted and sat promptly by a personable young man that brought us water. The owner then brought us our drinks...a margarita for my dining companion and a Mandarin Jarritos for me. My sip of the margarita tasted amazing! Great balance and flavor. We also received a basket of chips and salsa. You could tell that they were made fresh to order. The chips were crispy and hot. The salsa was outstanding...fresh cilantro...balanced combination of flavors with a nice, subtle kick of spiciness at the back end. Not too spicy...just right. I usually have to ask for something hotter...not in this case. The food was amazing! My dining companion ordered the Chile Relleno plate and I got the Molcajete. The prices are outstanding and the amount of food? Huge plates! My Molcajete was sizzling hot and overflowing with chicken, beef, shrimp, nopales and ground beef mixed with veggies. A large plate of refried beans and spanish rice also accompanied this presentation. Fresh, hot, delicious corn tortillas rounded out each of our orders. We were also given a couple of squeeze bottles of sauces...green and red...to add to our meals if we wanted. Freshly made and the bottles were presented in a plastic tub filled with ice to keep them cold. Great addition to the already amazing food! There's also a nice selection of Mexican hot sauces on the table for you to choose from. We both took to-go boxes...so much food! Mine lasted for 2 more meals! I plan to return on a regular basis...this is now one of my favorite local places for great Mexican food. As always, I suggest that you visit to see what YOU think...
