Wow! La Parada was our go to, but we now have a new favorite! El Mr Cameron is the bomb. I had Seafood Molcajete and wife had Arroz Con Cameron. This is a little hole in the wall on the southeast side. The chips and salsa were amazing and reminded us of my wife's families restaurant in KC. Service as great and the food was even better. Get ready for a new regular customer!

Found this little gem of a restaurant here on Yelp! Loved the food as well as the portions, exactly what we were looking for in a mexican seafood restaurant. Will definitely re-visit next time in or near Indianapolis.

What a wonderful little joint on the south east side of Indy! Delicious food, awesome atmosphere, and extremely colorful. Hardly any parking in the lot, but plenty of street parking across the road. The service staff is very attentive, although it did take us a while before we could finally pay and leave. You don't pay at the table; you pay at the counter. Once we sat down, we were immediately greeted with chips and salsa. After looking at their huge menu for a while, my girlfriend ordered the camarones a la diabla, which is very spicy shrimp (hint at the diabla) served with rice, beans, and vegetables. I ordered the fried breaded shrimp, which was served with the same sides. Very, very good! They give you a lot of shrimp. I definitely couldn't finish my entire meal. The breaded shrimp reheated great. We also ordered chorizo queso fundido served with hot tortillas on a sizzling skillet. Super great food all around and I'll definitely be returning. Plus their hot sauce selection is pretty wonderful as well as their red and green salsas.

    Tasty shrimp!

A nice little Mexican on the South East side of Indy. When you sit down you get chips and three types of Salsa. The only complaint I have about this place is the chips were just warm but not hot. The standard salsa was flavorful and had a little heat but plenty of spice. A very good salsa compared to the bland boring salsa served at so many Mexican restaurant. I got the camarones a la diabla. They use large shrimp, and there was around 15-20. The a la diabla sauce was nicely spice with a little heat. It came with rice, beans, avocados, tomatoes, lime and lettuce. The cost was $13.99 and I was fine with the price because of the quality of the shrimp. The restaurant was located in small strip mall. The place was nicely decorated. From everything I could see the place was clean and well taken care of. The service was good. I could tell my lunch was made to order and not pre-made and assembled like you get at so many Mexican restaurants today. I am going to go back and try some of their other dishes, but a great first meal. I am so happy that we have a few authentic Mexican restaurants in Indianapolis. If you are bored of chain restaurants and think for yourself and are not manipulated by millions of dollars in TV commercials to make yourself believe you have to eat average to below average overpriced food at some chain restaurant, I am one of you. Let's all keep supporting the true food scene in Indiana.

One of the first things I judge a Mexican restaurant on is the frijoles. This place is fantastic. The salsa had flavor! The camarones de la diabla are in a spicy sauce that is more than just spice. It's spice and heat and a little bit of smoke from maybe some chipotle. The shrimp is fresh and cooked perfectly. Will be going several times to try everything, but they really shine with the seafood. The tilapia is add much a visual masterpiece as a culinary one. Is the whole fish that fills a long plate, but you can get the filet if you like. This place is tucked away so don't blink or you might miss it.

I was referred here. So I gave it a whirl. It's an unexpected jewel on Sherman. The most authentic Mexican cuisine I've had in this city and I am an avid consumer of Mexican delectables. Customer service was great, the food was to my liking.

Took everything out to cool off since it was so hot!

Little hole in the wall.. Was not expecting to go here buuuut couldn't find this paleo place so ended up here and so grateful we did. Seat yourself, young boy brought us menus, chips and salsa which were awesome! Couldn't really understand the menu but I saw a man we had this huge bowl of seafood soup so I said "I want that!" With some guacamole. My boyfriend ordered 2 shrimp tacos and 2 beef tacos. Food took maybe 12 minutes to come out. My seafood soup had shrimp w/heads, crawdaddies, octopus, fish, crab legs served with a side of raw white onions, green onions and peppers. This was seriously so good and it was only $13. The tacos were perfect too.. Double tortillas so they don't fall apart and the guac was so fresh!

Great place to go for lunch. Tacos are fresh, made to order, and are darn tasty. Owners are very nice, welcoming.

Curb appeal is minimal, but we visited at 2pm and it was crowded. Great atmosphere for a family, very welcoming. We were promptly directed to choose a table, and salsa and chips were almost immediately placed in front of us. The fresh tomato salsa was pretty spicy, nice! Our entire service was very courteous, including the owner/manager coming to our table a couple times and asking how things were. I got the shrimp camarones, they were very good. Served with beans, rice, fresh tortillas, and a small salad. The shrimp were peel-and-eat, cooked in a tasty but not overpowering sauce. We also ordered the ceviche- very good. Some sort of seafood is definitely recommended, but there are also tortas, quesadillas and enchiladas. My boyfriend ordered 3 chicken tacos, and the handmade tortillas were a stand-out feature. Small servings of ice cream were brought to our table complimentarily when we finished our meal. I'm not sure if this is because it was clear we hadn't been there before, or standard.

I ordered hush puppies to start...definitely need some more of these! Flavorful and the sauces it came with were delicious. I ended to dipping mine in my boil bag and let me just say that was AMAZING. I ordered the scallops and shrimp and added the boiled eggs for an extra charge of $2.95. Very delicious very tasty and the garlic lemon Cajun mild was a great choice. Everything was cooked exactly right and the seasoning was on point it wasn't overly salty or spicy and yet wasn't even an ounce of bland. I of course took my half home and glad she wrapped it up good so nothing leaked out. Needless to say the bag boil was very good and definitely would go back. We ordered the lobster hoagie and hush puppies. Both were... fine. Not bad, but nothing that wowed us or justified the anticipation. The flavors were there in a basic sense, but it all felt a little underwhelming for a spot that's billing itself as a seafood destination. What really got me was the market side of things. The seafood on display just looked sad not fresh, not vibrant, not the kind of stuff that makes you want to throw something in a bag and take it home to cook. I fully understand we're landlocked in Indiana and truly fresh seafood is a challenge, but if that's your entire concept, the product has to be able to hold its own. Left feeling more disappointed than anything. I so wanted to love this place and will be rooting for them to level up but for now, this Florida girl will keep searching.

The service was very helpful deciding what to order. The setting was fun down town indanopolis feel. The lobster roll was definitely the standout. It was packed with fresh, flavorful lobster and had a nice balance of buttery richness without feeling too heavy. You can tell the seafood is high quality, which makes a huge difference. The lobster deviled eggs were super unique and honestly one of my favorite bites. Creamy, slightly tangy, and topped with lobster--it's not something you see everywhere, and they executed it really well. My husband tried the shrimp burrito, which was great for a seafood spot. It was hearty, well-seasoned, and filled generously. It didn't feel like an afterthought on the menu. To finish, the cheesecake was a great choice it was from the cheesecake factory is what the offered for my birthday smooth, rich, and just the right level of sweetness with a strawberry topping to end the meal without being overwhelming. I feel like most seafood places will have vegetarian options by way of removing the fish from pasta dishes or salad, but it's also nice to know that you can get chicken as a substitute on most of these kinds of dishes, too. Granted, it's just like chicken tenders, but still good nonetheless. I really like their firecracker pasta, which is moderately spicy in my opinion. There's no particular fishy smell here, which is always a good sign that the seafood they serve here is freshly prepared. Our food always comes out quickly for lunch and we've been a group as large as 8 or 9. I do believe that ordering is mostly done online in their mass Ave location, though. I don't really seek out a place like Slapfish on my own (no offense at all, just not a seafood girlie!!), but I would assume that it's a rather popular establishment as they recently opened a fifth location in the greater Indy area. If I did like fish and such more, I'd probably be here on a more regular rotation.
