Great service love the wood doors as you enter very beautiful. As soon as you walk in I love the entryway, but it is small so if they're busy, probably best to wait outside. They do have a lot of seating. The restaurant is kind of like a circle. That atmosphere is very loud, but very inviting The fajitas were good. The worst enchiladas i have ever eaten. The enchilada sauce looks and taste like it came right out of a jar. The salsa has nothing going on, no chunks of tomatoes, no spice or any kick at all. The chips seem over fried. as soon as chips and salsa came to the table, we should've left because I could see there was no pride in their salsa. I Judge, good Mexican restaurant by their salsa and the guacamole and based on the effort they put into their salsa, I would not order the guacamole. The enchiladas look like a tortilla when I put it between two wet paper towels in the microwave - how it gets over moist and limp. I asked what these tortillas look like wet tortillas rolled with some ground beef with little flavor or chicken or cheese and bean lazily rolled with a scoop of sauce and a over large portion of sour cream. and that's it. There was a jalapeno peper in the chicken ench but I will never come back. The only reason this got is two stat is because the margarita and the service was good. This review is for both the restaurant and the food truck. There doesn't seem to be a standalone Yelp page for just the food truck, although their offerings are different. The food truck has incredible and unique tacos that aren't available at the restaurant. I always get the tripe taco when I stop by, because it's not readily available at most Mexican restaurants. They also offer al pastor, ibbiria, campechanos, chorizo and chicken to name a few. All tacos come with lime, sautéed onions, cucumber/radishes and a grilled jalapeno. Plus two salsas, a green and a red. This allows you to customize the tacos to your liking. The guys running the truck are always very friendly and quick with your order. The truck is located at the corner of Hwy K and Veterans Memorial Parkway in the @Home parking lot. The restaurant is also my favorite Mexican spot! They have your classic Mexican restaurant menu with some of their own specialty dishes thrown in. They offer several large burritos, a fun list of appetizers and my favorite the Shrimp Diablo, which isn't as spicy as it sounds! The O Fallon location has a beautiful rich wood interior with a giant wood carved statue right in the middle of the room! Skip Taco Bell and really treat yourself! read more

Called in for pick up and they said it would be half an hour, got there and still had to wait another 20 to 30 minutes. They were really busy. Food was okay, it wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. My friend is very picky with the tortillas and he didn't really like them. I'll give it another go if I'm ever around the area. read more

This place continues to impress us. This time we both ordered Carne Asada. The offering overall is excellent. The flat steak is hammered flat. Mine was medium to well -- I prefer medium rare -- but this is hard to achieve with a thin steak. The steak does not present with the seasoning you might find at an Uncle Julio's but is tasty. We stopped by the O Fallon, MO on a Sunday after the lunch rush and El Mezon was still seating diners looking for a great meal. Lots of impressive decor as you enter the restaurant, and we were seated quickly. El Mezon does cater to large groups but I would call in advance make sure your party can me accommodated. El Mezon does have a bar for those looking for a happy hour or drink while you wait. Once seated our server was quick to provide chips and spicy salad and get our drink order while we reviewed the menu. El Mezon has a very diverse menu you expect to see and they do have menudo! I tried menudo while we also ordered the chicken burrito with verde salsa. Both dishes were served very hot and delicious. Prices were very reasonable with good portions. Restaurant was very clean and tables were serviced quickly. Overall great experience and will try the St. Peter's location. read more

I tried. If you enjoy steamed steak, then this is the restaurant establishment for you. We received the four taco meal and also cheesy rice with added steak and both entrées steak was definitely steamed/microwave or pre-cooked. The cheese sauce, salsa & rice were a hunger saver. This is a much larger space than he original St. Peter's location at I-70 and Highway 79 (Salt Lick Road). So, it's much more suitable for groups and has several 8-person tables. The menu seemed to be the same. Service, which is outstanding at the St. Peter's location, is high here also. The hard surfaces, however, added a lot of noise and made conversation more challenging up an down our table. Seven of eight in our party enjoyed their lunches, with one describing a mixed meat and veggie plate as only "okay." read more

First things first, they really impressed me with the decor. Like looking at the strip mall they're in and when you step inside was just wonderful. Beautiful statues and lighting. It was so clean in there. They had a mariachi band floating around playing music for the tables and my kids LOVED joining in and playing the maracas when they came by our table. Service was good, server was nice. They had happy hour at the time we went. Which was a surprise because it was around 7ish. We weren't quite sure what was all on the happy hour I don't think I ever saw a list. The Margs were delicious and the food was great too! The protions were big which is great, we don't mind left over Mexican for the next day. When we got the bill we were shocked how affordable it was. I have been coming to El Mezon for over a year now and really enjoy the service and friendly staff. First off the chips and salsa are great. The drinks are really good as well. From the regular margarita to the jalapeño margarita you cannot go wrong. They definitely serve the best margarita in the area. My wife and I usually go for the molcajete and the Mexican guacamole. My husband and I (and usually our kids) are pretty regular patrons of both the LSL and St. Peter's location. Food is always good, staff is always friendly. Husband is partial to the street tacos and I tend to lean towards the chicken tortilla soup, but we haven't had anything there that was bad. Prices are a little more than you average Mexican restaurant, but worth it. The only thing I can fault them for is there's been more than one occasion where the staff stalls out after they've cleared the plates and we've had to wait or flag down someone to get the check and there was one time (only takes one!) where I asked for some cilantro to top my soup and they charged over $2 for a small bowl....I could buy a whole plant for less than that! Neither will stop us from coming back, but beware the "garnish tax"! read more
