Wife and I always have the best food here. I love his queso dip man it's fire! The place is always busy but always welcomes you with a smile and patience. The inside is big, ambiance makes you feel like you're at a mom and pop Mexican restaurant but the food make you think you ate at a 5star restaurant. Went here for Valentine's Day. As soon as we sat down the table was gross. Didn't really care about that cause they were busy. Then there was hair on our salsa container which was foreshadowing. We asked for their special cheese dip and never got it. We reminded the waitress and she brought us the wrong cheese dip. Then our food almost came out right after that so there was no point in the dip cause we didn't have time to eat it. THEN my food came out and as soon as I looked at it I saw a beard hair sticking out of my sauce. It had a split end and everything lol. To top everything off there were about 2 gnats flying around our heads our entire time we were there. This one isn't a BIG deal but my husband had like 2 green beans in his food. Which didn't come with green beans lol. Just gross place. I didn't eat my food cause all I could think about was how nasty the kitchen probably was. Stepped into Ernesto's years ago and suddenly my life felt like a mariachi band had taken up permanent residence in my soul. The service? Faster than my husband can down a bowl of salsa, faster than the speed of a delicious margarita disappearing in front of my eyes. I swear, you cannot have a single thought in that building before your server appears with whatever it is you desire. I am not sure where Ernesto hires his workers from, but I am almost positive that they all go through some sort of psychic ninja bootcamp training before they are put out on the floor. Every server that we have had is attentive and polite, helpful and knowledgeable. The food? Oh. My. Tortilla. Delicious doesn't even begin to cover it. My taste buds do the Macarena, a little salsa dance, and then promptly fall into a blissful siesta of flavor every single time we go here. I generally order the "Fiesta Nachos" but customize them to: no chicken, no beef, but add steak. Let me tell you: YOU WILL NEVER EAT NACHOS THE SAME AGAIN. We have tried many different delicious plates from here and have never had anything not to our likings. The atmosphere is so fun, you almost forgot you are just there for a meal and not accidentally crashing a fiesta. It does not matter the time of day or day of the week, there is always laughter, clinking of glasses, and a very light family-type atmosphere. We have been there when they open for the day and before they close at night, no matter how busy they are, you are never kept waiting very long. Their restaurant is a well-oiled machine with hard workers that mesh well together and create a wonderful place to enjoy a meal. The servers? Attentive is an understatement. I think one of them could sense my mild existential dread about finishing the aforementioned nachos and offered me to-go box before I even knew I needed it. That's not service, that's clairvoyant hospitality! We go here more often than we should, but not as often as we would like. Our serves remember us and our general orders (we are creatures of habit). They keep our cups full and our bellies happy. Honestly, eating at Ernesto's is less a meal and more a full-blown, joyful experience. My only complaint? Ernesto's is comfortable. The staff is friendly and responsive. They serve a very good Margarita and pretty good fajitas. The problem with the fajitas are the tortillas! A fresh, supple tortilla won't crack and leak its contents in your lap. Fajitas that don't make it to your lips are wasted and these are good fajita fixins. We stayed in Augusta and ran over to have lunch at Ernesto's. The food was great. Service was amazing. Very good experience.

Very unaccommodating for a lagged group and manager was rude. Food was cold definitely better places to eat.

So I want to start off with this place didn't know how to make a margarita. We asked to have a top shelf margarita made with Cabo wabo. The waitress told us they wasn't possible that all the margaritas were premixed. I had to add lime juice to the margarita and the guacamole to make it edible. Everything tasted so bland, there was no flavor no spice. Almost like they didn't care what was being presented to the customers. We called a day before and said we would have 22 people. They said they would do their best to have tables available. When we came to the restaurant, they said it would be 20 minutes before they had the tables ready. When we came back in 20 minutes, they had given out tables away. I asked what happened, and they said they don't take reservations on weekends, but I told them we just had to wait 20 minutes. For Mexican food I would rate this below average. The have taken their product as to be main streamed. This is no longer a quality Mexican food product. Their is No freshness to the product. The beans are running and quality is low. It seems like he is targeting a customer base that doesn't understand true Mexican food qualities such as freshness, spice, and bold flavors. My last couple of visits have been a little disappointing. On a recent visit, l ordered the spinach enchiladas. The spinach was fresh, but way too salty and l love salt. The salad that is kind of a garnish on the plate consisted of rusty iceberg and one anemic tomato slice with the brown stem end left on. As a former waiter, that would not have passed my visual inspection. The women's restroom is in need of repair. There are yellow water stains on the ceiling tiles. The latch on the stall is missing a knob, making it tricky to lock. The hook on the back of the door is missing so there is no place to hang your purse. These are all cheap and easy fixes. Lastly, the a/c vent we were seated under was really loud. It was a relief when it shut off. read more

Really, really pleased with my first visit here! Ernesto's is tucked away in a shopping plaza where, unfortunately, many restaurants have come and gone. Pantara's Pizza, some Italian place I can't remember the name of, El Nopal (what I remember it as), and Three Margaritas have all called this spot home. I hope Ernesto's can fare better than its predecessors. Like many people, I have my one Mexican item I always order when eating Mexican food. Mine is chicken nachos. Theirs were quite good, and without an over abundance of soupy watery cheese at the bottom of the plate! If Jimmy Johns hadn't already coined it, Ernesto's slogan could be 'Freaky fast'. I realize we were there a little ahead of the normal dinner crowd, but our food came out so quickly; it was awesome. The service was great too. Our waiter was very friendly and eager to serve us. The food is so delicious and, better than that, the service is awesome! If you love your tamales nice and doughy, made the authentic way (with pork) and loaded up with delicious chili & beans on top then this is the place for you. Hubby had the sampler platter when we went back for another visit yesterday evening and there wasn't a thing on the plate that wasn't delicious.
