We were visiting St Louis, and I looked up coffee shops to see if anything in the Delmar Loop…read moresounded interesting. This one did, so I walked over from the restaurant where we were after lunch. This is a very pleasant shop with lots of available seating. It just has a rather modern look, and it was very nice and clean. I came up to talk to a friendly barista. The pour over menu was a bit confusing because there wasn't a lot of information directly on the menu, I asked about one pour over because I had never tried a bean of that origin before. She had good things to say about it, but she said that, if I wanted something fruity or floral to try Haro Wachu from Ethiopia. It was as if she read my mind because I had been wanting to try a natural processed Ethiopian. I'm really glad I took her suggestion! It was one of the best cups of coffee I've ever tried. I didn't taste so much of a note of fruit in it, but I still loved it! I made sure to make a note of what it was in case I have room for more beans at home and want to order it. So, I do wish it was easier to tell what each pour over was in the menu (They have a lot at reasonable prices!). However, I left there thoroughly impressed with the coffee. If you are out on Delmar Loop, they are definitely worth visiting.

It's in the old Starbucks on Olive and the vibe is nice. Today I got a Hot Zebra Latte - delicious. I also got a turkey sandwich, pre made. It was not good. First it was labeled wrong, the turkey tasted old and the lettuce looked old. Their breakfast sandwiches they make from scratch are much better. I'll keep coming back for coffee for sure!

I had decided on Avocado toast, it tempted me most as it was served on Union Loafers bread, who can resist that? Not me. I was given a number and chose to sit at the counter, lots of tables and counter space and additional room up the stairs. When my name was called for my latte, I was excited! It was beautiful! I really enjoyed the flavor, not too sweet and just the right amount of coconut. A server brought my avocado toast. It was also beautiful. All you need is positioned at the end of the counter, utensils, napkins, go boxes, hot sauce, etc. I liked the presentation but immediately spread the microgreens over the whole toast, moved the egg to the center and cut the toast in half forgetting to take a picture! A London fog is usually in Earl Grey tea that has some steamed milk or cold milk and maybe a sweetener. I got a hot London fog and it was delectable. I also got the pecan sticky roll to go with it. The pecan roll was absolutely sticky and sweet and overall just really delicious. Highly recommend getting it warm if they ask you. The barista was extremely friendly, and I found out later that it was the owner that made my drink, which I think is pretty cool and the general manager guided me to get the London fog. Inside is really nice and cozy. Lots of seating whether you wanna sit inside or outside. Definitely can come solo or with a group of friends. If you're in the area above all the other coffee shops definitely make a stop here!

Switch Coffee Collective is a coffee roaster in North Saint Louis. Their building is connected to…read moreMission Saint Louis and they are closely affiliated with them, as well. It's a place where folks who are in/graduate from MSTL's job program can work. One, their coffee is bomb! They mostly do wholesale business right now, with hopes to expand and serve coffee in a cafe to the public. The only place I know of right now that sells it to consumers is Crave Coffee House on SLU's medical campus. Two, their mission is also awesome. If making great coffee wasn't enough... They want to bring growth to North City's economy and provide jobs for folks who live there. Look out for them, they're doing awesome stuff!

I was able to stand in while some local business owners were testing some roasts with a method called, cupping. Collin was explaining the process and showing us the ropes. He has traveled near and far learning about coffee and has some amazing insight into coffee and roasting with excellence. Stop by to check out their facility! They're appointment only, so make sure to set something up. You can also observe local folks while they're in the roasting process. There's a sense of community built around this beautiful thing we all love, coffee. Go check it out.

Pros: super kind staff, a good latte, and everyone inside felt like community because they were all so kind to each other. I have been wanting to try it out for a couple of months now. The atmosphere is nice. I'm not always huge on the cement floors because noise seems to echo, but the store is well-decorated and quaint but still spacious. The staff were fine, you can tell they're trying to get people through quickly. I would appreciate a simple "Hey, have you been in before?" instead of "What do you want?" but maybe that's a personal preference. We tried 3 coffees -- the Maple Brown Sugar latte, the Bananas Latte, and a White Chocolate Mocha, all iced. The drinks ranged from decent to great. My favorite was the Bananas Latte. I do find their coffee a bit bitter compared to others in the area. I'm excited to come back and try another drink. It's nice to have a smaller coffee shop in the area. 3.5/5
