When I check out a new coffee place, I look for two things: Is the coffee "good" to my taste buds (this one probably goes without saying) and can I comfortably sit and relax long enough to read or have a conversation? Upshot offers both, with a bonus of delicious food. We'd never explored historic Cottleville before, and I immediately appreciated the setting. The surrounding streets and buildings bare a slight resemblance to the charm of Vermont. On a recent nice, near-Spring day, my wife and I knew we had to take advantage of the outdoor seating. Serene with a mild breeze, we would have liked to sit and read for an hour or two, if time allowed. I almost always go for a red eye when I visit a coffee shop for the first time, but there are alot of appealing alternatives; I might have to try Maple Bourbon latte on a future visit. Being a major fan of breakfast food, I had to order the hearty Brake Shop burrito, packed with scrambled eggs, bacon, cripsy tater tots, and pico del gallo. It arrived quickly, hot, and even more filling and flavorful than I expected. Beyond that, Upshot offers an ample menu of other breakfast and lunch options; my wife ordered a Turkey Sando and custom-made iced vanilla latte with oatmilk. We don't get that many beautiful days in the midst of St. Louis winter; I'm glad I could spend one at Upshot's flagship cafe, and excited to see how their other locations compare. read more

Such a lovely spot for breakfast and coffee with my lifelong friend and our moms! The food and coffee were fantastic, with plenty of options to choose from. Everyone working was so kind and helpful, and I truly appreciated how seriously they took my milk allergy when ordering. My only note is that it can feel a bit tight when the shop gets crowded. I've stopped by this place almost every weekend to do some work. I normally get the matcha with lavender syrup but saw they had coconut cream cold brew so I tried that one. I couldn't really taste the coconut as much in this drink. Staff and service was nice and friendly. Drinks are made quickly. I'm also a fan of their avocado toast. The service was five stars! I could not taste any coconut in the cold brew... I had never had it before or come here before so I wasn't sure I just accidentally got a regular cold brew? So it was a miss for me. The loaded potato quiche was so much bigger than I thought lol I almost didn't get finish it. Maybe two bites left but I could not force myself because I was so full already. We'll have to go again because I need to try all the things before giving a solid review. This is just based off of today's visit and may not encompass their full menu/maybe it just wasn't my day! It's a cute little place with free parking in the back when you first turn in. Theres a front and back patio, seating on both sides of the counter and then even a side section with a sliding door if you want to get some work done or study. How much love i have for the Upshot flagship!! The location is perfect, right in the heart of cottleville. They have my favorite espresso ever! They prioritize quality and consistency with every cup. Nothing has compared. Most of the syrups are made in house and it makes such a difference. The food is great and they have a good selection between sweet and savory. All of this said, what makes me love Upshot the most is the people. The staff is always warm and welcoming and makes every customer feel valued. Best tasting coffee I have had in a long time! Absolutely knock it out of the park on their roasts. Stopped in today for the first time and was delighted with how busy the shop was- this is the type of coffee shop you come for a date or to meet up with a friend. Intimate and made for doing a little work or catching up. No drive thru. Their menu definitely seems designed for ordering in- I took my Americano to go and was a little disappointed with the size options- there's only one size and it's small. My Americano came in the size of a to go cup you get with hotel coffee. The prices weren't bad and they have a good selection of milk options. Their flavor options were very creative and seemed like they might be homemade- I loved the idea of them, but I do wish they offered sugar free options. They had a decent food menu and a lot of it was displayed in their glass cabinet. Some gluten free and some vegan. The last thing I will say is that on a Thursday late morning (around 10) it took about 15 minutes to get my Americano- so not great if you are in a rush, but this really is a great place to come and stay awhile. read more

The coffee here is of course really good but I also base a good coffee shop off of the food menu. Bakery items are really good. Now you can make your own breakfast sandwich which I appreciate but also despise. The. "Make your own" sandwich includes a breakfast meat, which many people just don't eat anymore. No discount or ability to swap something else. Every other topping costs extra contributing to a likely very expensive sandwich. And the sandwich size I swear has shrunk. Still a good go to place but expect a hefty bill if going for coffee and food. I do really like this is a coffee shop you can visit with friends or by yourself and all are comfortable. read more

The cutest little coffee shop! Heads up do not park in parking lot as it is not the locations and charges you $5. The parking is on what looks like the back side of building and is street parking. The space is small, which makes it loud and a little hard to hear the person across the table from you. I thought my latte was decent, but did feel it was overpriced (almost $7) for 12oz, and the beans were not my favorite. The coffee is so good but I've noticed they have sick employees working all the time and it makes me really uncomfortable with them serving me food and drinks. There's always at least one person coughing, sneezing, or sniffling while making drinks. I know I've caught illnesses from coming here more than once. Just wish they had better health code standards. The quality of the oat milk can make or break a drink for me, so I was very happy with what I received. They had quick, prompt service and the restaurant had a very cozy atmosphere. Checked this place out while in town because of all the great reviews, and I wasn't disappointed! They have lots of drink choices, including stuff in the cooler that I didn't get to partake in because I was flying out later that day. They also had lots of baked goods (we had an oat meal cookie that was really tasty). It's a pretty nice coffee shop, reasonably priced, and great atmosphere to go with a friend or study. Drink took about fifteen minutes, but I wasn't in a hurry, so I didn't mind. There were some outdoor tables too, if the weather is nice.
