Had a chance to stop by Tequila restaurant for some lunch. Visited on a Friday after thanks giving and was pretty busy with shoppers from the mall close by. No problem getting a seat and quickly served with fresh chips and salsa. I've had my fair share of chips and salsa but will say Tequila provided the freshest salsa and chips to date. Not too greasy chips or watery salsa Menu had all the classic items you expect with a few surprises. We tried their local dishes with beans and rice and both were very good . Service was also great and gave us the privacy to enjoy some conversation. Tequila has lots of specials to fit any Part of your day, whether it's lunch or Happy Hour. They also can accommodate large groups and recommend calling ahead. Tequila restaurant is a hidden gem, and worth a visit. With winter coming, it's a perfect time to get out and enjoy a great meal. Mexican restaurant with a full menu of traditional fare. We brought the entire group to have a family meeting and the space was great. We sat in a large booth that seated 6 of us and enjoyed a margarita and chips while waiting for our food. Our server was fantastic, informative and attentive. As we checked out we even got to meet one of the owners, she was tending to the other things but when she saw us she came over to make sure we were taken care of and she personally checked us out. Tequila is one of my family's favorite Mexican Restaurants. Their food is so delicious. The staff is friendly. You never have to wait too long for your food. They have great lunch prices and great specials listed on their chalkboard for every day of the week. My top three favorite dishes include Molcajete, Paella and their steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas! if you have not tried one of these plates, you are missing out. I live in Brighton Park and was very happy I tried this place. It's a walking distance so me and my son walked going there and we were greeted immediately and also seated quickly. The chips are good, not that great, but it was served fresh since those are still hot and crunchy. The salsa was good, but at first we thought it was frozen as it's not flowing through, but eventually we were able to pour it in. read more

I've have passed by many times over the last several years. Finally had a chance to stop in for a drink and chips with my wife. It is the typical strip mall Mexican restaurant with all the usual offerings. The decor is better than many of them though. We sat at the bar ordered our margaritas and cheese dip for the chips. Not really any different that so many other places. We were happy to see the $2 coupon when we checked in though. We were disappointed though when it was denied because we didn't order food. Maybe there is some rule about discounting a bar bill, but the coupon clearly states off total bill. We have options closer to home and probably won't be back read more

So I don't write reviews very often, but I do get quesabirria anytime I can! While the birria itself was bland but ok and there was a nice amount of melted cheese, the corn tortillas were very soggy and there was no cilantro or onions on the tacos?!? I get lots of people can't eat cilantro, but the not very friendly waiter could have asked? He also looked at me like I was insane when I asked if the bartender could toss a jalapeno in my margarita. Salsa was bland and tasted faintly like cocktail sauce. Chips were the thick kind and were really good! We've been coming here for years, it's amazing how much we still love the food and the people working here. On our way out to Pointfest and stopped for food first, so glad we did too!! Located on the inside corner of a strip mall, from the outside Tequila Mexican Restaurant looks like a tiny place. I've been by it dozens of times, years back when there was a frozen yogurt place a few doors down that my kids loved to frequent. My husband and I decided to have lunch there on a recent Saturday. We were surprised to find that it is actually quite large, designed in several sections. There were few customers when we arrived, and we were immediately seated. Two flat screens nearby were playing international football (soccer) with Spanish-speaking commentators. At times like this, I wish I was farther along in my Spanish Duolingo pero yo estoy demasiado cansada estudiar -- or at least that's what I tell myself. We asked our server what he recommended. He suggested the $5.49 lunch specials which are available from 11:00 until 3:00. We both decided on fajitas, with corn tortillas for me. While we waited, we snacked on warm tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were good. I prefer chips thinner and saltier, but these were satisfying. The symphony of sizzles our fajitas gave when the server brought them to our table was magical. Between Hubby's steak fajitas and my chicken plate, I could have gotten a quick steam facial. Fabulous. The onions and peppers were dancing with joy. On the side: fresh lettuce, tomato, fresh guacamole, and sour cream, with rice and beans. My corn tortillas were soft, tasty, and unlike the ones I get at the store, they held together beautifully. Hubby confirmed the flour tortillas were typical flour tortillas. The fajitas were juicy, seasoned well, and fresh. For the price, the lunch was a terrific deal. The service was good, too. Tequila, you're a spicy burrito in a sea of bland tacos. I walked in expecting just another run-of-the-mill Mexican joint, but boy was I in for a surprise. The salsa had more kick than a mule on Red Bull, and the margaritas had me seeing double (or was it the six I had?). I may or may not have taken a bite out of a cactus on my way out, but that's just how lit this place had me feeling. But seriously, the carnitas were as tender as my heart after a breakup, and the queso was a cheesy, gooey masterpiece. The atmosphere was straight outta a telenovela, complete with a mariachi band serenading me while I stuffed my face with tacos. I'm feeling a light to decent 9 on this one's. I wish I could give this 0 stars because what in the world. I am currently recovering from a trip to the ER due to food poisoning that I received after eating at this restaurant. I ordered the fajita nachos and the only word that can explain how they tasted is: SICK. Watery queso that wasn't even on the chips but was instead pooled at the bottom of the plate. Uncooked fajita veggies, meaning that there was just chopped green peppers that were just thrown on top. Slices of tomato instead of pico. Like what?. I only had a couple of chips and just ate a few pieces of chicken. Next morning, sick as a dog. Never again, shut this restaurant down immediately. And if you go, go at your own risk...... oh and not to mention, the restaurant closes at 10pm, but were we kicked out at 9:30pm. For what? First, a help wanted sign greeted us at the door. The service staff was obviously short handed but did an acceptable job. Wait staff bused the tables. Our order came in a reasonable time, and a 2nd Margherita came so quickly that I questioned the server, who said it was premixed. The drinks were ok, but later gave me and my wife headaches. Wondering if the booze used was Mezcal instead of tequila? Regardless, the food was just ok. What was a big turnoff was that the ponlano pepper's core was still in the pepper, as was a hundred seeds. This leaves little room for the cheese and the seeds are everywhere, including the sauce and what cheese was left. Like eating pumpkin pie with the seeds left in it. My regular margarita on the rocks was not good - at all! It tasted like it came from powdered mix with artificial sweetener. My fiancé had the frozen strawberry margarita, and he said it was meh. The worst disappointment was the fish tacos. Yuck. I ate one, and left the other 2. The battered cod in the tacos was clearly frozen lo-quality cod. It looked and tasted like crappy fish sticks. The chipotle cream, the beans, and the rice were good, however, I'm not paying $12 just to eat beans and rice. The service? It was awful. We stopped in on a whim on a Thursday evening about 6pm. The restaurant only had 2-3 tables with people. After eating there I understood why. The chips were good, but the salsa was just "eh." My husband ordered a large margarita, but it was terrible. His chimichanga was fine, but the retried beans were not good at all. I had the enchiladas verdes. The flavor was good, but some of the ground beef was dry & it was smothered with iceberg lettuce. I do not want iceberg lettuce on top of my warm entree. This location is fabulous as there are tons of residences and no Mexican restaurants super close. However, i wasn't a fan of the food or drinks so we would not return. This was my husbands most favorite place to eat. We had our first date here and have eaten here many times. Recently we discovered that you could get the food delivered through Grub Hub. I ordered 2 times in just a few days. Both meals were a disaster. The first one came missing my dads whole meal. We called and they didn't offer to do anything. Said the next time we would just have a credit for the item. That was a very bad joke. We called a few days later to place another order and "add" the credited food and they said sorry the manager wasn't here call back. ok we waiting a few hours and tried to call back, sorry no manager. A Friday night and no manager. Considering this is his favorite place we just placed a whole new order and decided to take the issue of the missing food up later. Well this time half the food was missing. 3 orders of Fajitas and no shells to eat them with. No chips and salsa, no appetizer and the Same item that was missing the first time was missing again. So I called and asked for the manager. The person that got on the phone and told me there was no manager said she knew who it was. She proceeded to tell me why it happen and that it wasn't there fault. So I had to get in my car and take the food back. I was furious by the time I got in there. I waited for someone to offer to help me and it was so loud in there. The music was super loud and the lobby was extremely crowded which made it even louder. My husband tried to say something to me and I couldn't hear him so I started out yes angry but loud because of the noise level in there. The lady that came up was the same person that I talked to on the phone. She proceeded to tell me the cooks were new and they couldn't handle the business. They were busy and the person that did the delivery didn't grab both bags. She tried to offer me the other bag and I think that was just to much. What about all the other food that's now cold. At that point another customer started yelling and screaming at me. Telling me I shouldn't talk to her like that. Like what Firmly. He started threatening me and she never asked him to stop. This place has left people in charge that on a Friday night with a packed house no one is in charge. Customers in the lobby yelling at people and no one able to handle it. I told her if you can't handle the delivery business why didn't you just call and say hey we are to busy for this. I would have ordered from somewhere else. No biggie. A restaurant that doesn't staff a manager doesn't care. They are interested in only the money. I wish everyone would stop eating here until they care more about service as they do money. read more

If I went back I would order the veggie fajitas and the guacamole, they do that well and it is well worth the price. The sauce that comes with the tortilla chips taste like cold spaghetti sauce, I asked for the hot and they gave me some type of paste base stuff that did not have a good flavor. The service is super slow! We waited more than five minutes before I was even ever acknowledged to be seated. Cleanliness was maybe a 3 out of 5. Our server waited about ten minutes to even come get a drink order from us and seemed put off by me asking if we were allowed to order our food at the same time she took our drink order. She was kind but not genuine. The food was pretty good, I got the monster chicken chimichanga, however, the chicken had an odd texture and was very dry. Also I went about another thirty minutes with an empty cup waiting on a refill with all the other servers glancing at me but never offered to refill my glass when our server was nowhere to be found. That was disappointing. While we were eating we watched another server yelling and pulling on a customers purse asking to look inside of it!?? The customer was obviously upset and got loud as well and said she would never be back. That was just awkward. There's no reason to go through a customers personal belongings at a restaurant! She paid for the food. If she wants to put it in her bag, she should be allowed to do so. Just my opinion. All in all I'd give this place one star.
