My new favorite Mexican spot! I love that it's family owned and they've been in business for a while. The customer loyalty & how busy it gets proves they're definitely a town favorite. When you enter there's a seating area of booths to the left. If you continue further there's another little space of seats, a full L shaped bar, and more seating in the bar area as well as an outside patio with seating. I definitely recommend coming before dinner time. If you come for dinner be prepared to wait. If you want to eat here with a large party I recommend asking about a reservation otherwise I'd advise against due to how busy it gets! I'm not a fav of the chips & salsa as the salsa isn't flavorful or chunky enough to me. For those like myself who prefer spice & more flavor I recommend getting their salsa picante & mixing the 2, so much better! Their margaritas are good, I prefer the blood orange vest but they have a large selection of marg flavors and a full bar. For food I've had the nachos, tamales, enchiladas (I recommend the enchiladas de pollo verdes), tacos, and chimichanga. I got my parents hooked on the tamales! I love that they serve them as not a lot of Mexican restaurants do here & I love that they put meat both inside and on top of them. The establishment is always clean, the staff is always friendly & welcoming, and you can tell theirs homemade recipes coming out of the kitchen. I recommend ending your meal with the churros! Overall their price point, staff efficiency, and the consistency with the food makes this the best Mexican restaurant I've had in the area which is why I keep coming back & would bring guests here. read more

This is a neighborhood Mexican restaurant where customers become friends. It says a lot about a place when there are so many regulars and everyone seemed pretty happy with their meal. They have a big parking lot and it was still rather busy on this Tuesday evening of my visit. It's a casual atmosphere and there were plenty of open seats when I visited. We decided to sit at the bar and we were immediately greeted and offered chips & salsa and they were ready for our drink order. I chose the fresh squeezed Cadillac margarita. It was very good and refreshing. We were brought chips and salsa that were better than average. My dining companion ordered other kinds of salsa that were quite spicy, and I liked it mixed with the regular salsa. I ordered the cheese tamale plate that came with three large cheese tamales, fluffy rice, a small lettuce and tomato mound, and vegetarian pinto beans that were quite tasty. First time I was not pleased with a meal at El Tio Pepe in O'Fallon, Mo. I shad lunch at El Tio Pepe on 4/23/26. I ordered a lunch special of 2 items plus beans and rice. The lunch was not warm and the yellow cheese was cold and looked like plastic on my burrito and taco. I doubt it if it was real cheese. The chunk beef was over cooked and dry. The chicken on my taco was very cold. I told my waitress and she said she could put it in the microwave, but would have to charge me for queso. My wife's meal, Pollo Loco, was cold as well as my son's Tamale plate. Very disappointed in our server ( table 53 at 1:05) and the quality of the meal. read more

The meal was very good as well as the margaritas. I got the pollo Cancun which was fantastic. Had sautéed mushrooms, shrimp with rice and beans. Very delicious overall. The margaritas were also good and had the right amount of sweetness to alcohol ratio. The service was slower but it was busy per usual. First, I want to say this is one of my go to places. It's a favorite and close to home so I eat here a lot. Usually twice a week. The food here is consistently wonderful. Always authentic and it's family owned with its third generation just starting there. The service is great, we know the workers by name and they remember us and usually our orders. LOL The restaurant has been recently renovated, it has an outdoor patio and garage doors that are open when the weather is nice. Food was subpar! Spanish rice tasted very old. Service was poor. My husband had the combination platter and I had the beef chimichanga either of which tasted like there was any fresh ingredients, tasted like it had just been microwaved and sent out .This place use to be our go to place for mexican food, but no more. What a great restaurant! When we pulled up we thought we would have to wait because the parking lot was poppin! We went inside and they ended up seating us right away! You chips and salsa - obviously - and we started off with a frozen mango margarita & a house margarita on the rocks. The drinks were great and came out quick! WOW! Totally impressed! Sometimes when we travel we have to get food to go as we have a pet with us. So we ordered food for pick up here - first the parking lot flowath over which usually is a sign you are about to have a great food experience! We ordered their Flautas, chimichanga, enchilada rancheros, & fajita quesadilla. Flautas had the perfect crunch and flavor with refried beans that were so smooth they melted on your tongue with flavor! The enchiladas rancheros were delicious although not what my husband was hoping for (he loves the pepper/onion w/ carnitas version) however they delivered a great punch of flavor. The chimichanga with shredded chicken was crunchy, moist, cheesy and just THE BEST evah! Lastly the fajita quesadilla was just beyond words! The flavors were so succulent - could eat that everyday (just wouldn't be good for the waistline lol)! This place has been bookmarked for sure! Kinda shocked to find decent Mexican food this side of the river (IYKYK). I've been driving past this place for years and we finally decided to stop in for a visit. I have a few criteria I use to judge a Mexican restaurant. The first one is the chips and salsa. Any connoisseur knows not all chips and salsa are created equal. The chips are thin with enough thickness to handle the salsa without breaking in the salsa bowl, or worse on the way to your mouth! The salsa had a warm heat and a medium texture thin with a little chunk to it. The second measure is the margarita test. Again any connoisseur knows not all margs are created equal. I went with the standard house margarita with Grand Marnier. The flavor was spot on and the combination of mixer to alcohol was perfect. Definitely felt like a solid cocktail without being watered down or cloyingly sweet. The last measure is by the tacos Al pastor. They aren't called this on the menu, but a trained eye knows what to look for. This dish can easily get dried out, made too spicy, or lack flavor. None of that could be said about this dish. The beans and rice are your standard fare. The restaurant is clean with a buzzing atmosphere. The staff are personable but not overly doting. I'd recommend them over all the places in comparison to all the other places in St. Charles County. read more

Each time we've visited El Tio Pepe over many years we have experienced a welcoming atmosphere, great service, and outstandingly delicious food. They expanded their square footage a few years ago so the restaurant can better accommodate their many guests. Though my wife and I have many favorite dishes, we would encourage you NOT to miss their "Quesa Pepe!!" The chihuahua cheese is chewy and mouthwatering!! My family and I were on our way to Kansas City when we found this gem off the highway in O'Fallon, Missouri. We were craving mexican food and this hit the spot. I put in a to-go order and their service was excellent and very friendly; it only took them about 20 minutes even when they had a line out the door to eat at this place. I've never seen a Mexican restaurant so busy. I ordered the fajita quesadilla with rice and beans and the first bite I took was absolutely heaven. It was juicy, cheesy, and super delicious with the perfectly sautéed peppers and onions. This will go down as one of the best quesadillas I've ever had.
