Food was good. Service is friendly. Ambiance is normal Mexican restaurant feel. This is one of our favorite places. Only downside is no patio like some of the others

Two taco lunch special with refried beans and Spanish rice were under $8 in January 2022.

Summary: Expansive menu of Mexican favorites and a friendly staff in comfortable surroundings. For no reason it's been over three years since we visited nearby El Azteca. We tried to visit a month ago but the place was packed at dinner and we didn't want to wait. If you do wait I don't think you'll be disappointed. (The many 5-star Yelp! reviews will back me up.) El Azteca has a large menu--even of lunch specials--with fair pricing. Food is satisfactory. And service was helpful and friendly. Our server patiently explained a birthday coupon we had, what was or wasn't included, and options for their Taco Tuesday specials. In the end we ordered two lunch combos and were delighted with the results. My chicken taco could have used more seasoning and the Spanish rice was a bit dry. But a chimichanga, ground beef, taco and refried beans were all satisfactory.

Wow this place was a total surprise and one that's worth checking out. Up on entering you will notice how clean the restaurant is and how friendly the staff are , they greet and seat you promptly and then bring out some nice warm chips with a delicious sauce. They have a wide variety on the menu and also have a full bar and offer daily specials.Husband had the chicken cheese and rice and said the chicken was nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly and I had a beef chimichanga which was delicious and covered with lots of cheese. This restaurant has been in business many years and it's so worth a try.

So my wife and I are going through the alphabet with restaurants we have not been or not been to in a long time. We started at El Azteca (for our A). Food was excellent. The chorizo in particular was about the best I've had. Margarita and Salsa also very good. The only reason for 4 vs 5 stars was it took a really long time to get our check and then pay our check.

When you enter there's a seating area of booths to the left. If you continue further there's another little space of seats, a full L shaped bar, and more seating in the bar area as well as an outside patio with seating. I definitely recommend coming before dinner time. If you come for dinner be prepared to wait. If you want to eat here with a large party I recommend asking about a reservation otherwise I'd advise against due to how busy it gets! I'm not a fav of the chips & salsa as the salsa isn't flavorful or chunky enough to me. For those like myself who prefer spice & more flavor I recommend getting their salsa picante & mixing the 2, so much better! Their margaritas are good, I prefer the blood orange vest but they have a large selection of marg flavors and a full bar. For food I've had the nachos, tamales, enchiladas (I recommend the enchiladas de pollo verdes), tacos, and chimichanga. I got my parents hooked on the tamales! I love that they serve them as not a lot of Mexican restaurants do here & I love that they put meat both inside and on top of them. The establishment is always clean, the staff is always friendly & welcoming, and you can tell theirs homemade recipes coming out of the kitchen. I recommend ending your meal with the churros! Overall their price point, staff efficiency, and the consistency with the food makes this the best Mexican restaurant I've had in the area which is why I keep coming back & would bring guests here.

They have a big parking lot and it was still rather busy on this Tuesday evening of my visit. It's a casual atmosphere and there were plenty of open seats when I visited. We decided to sit at the bar and we were immediately greeted and offered chips & salsa and they were ready for our drink order. I chose the fresh squeezed Cadillac margarita. It was very good and refreshing. We were brought chips and salsa that were better than average. My dining companion ordered other kinds of salsa that were quite spicy, and I liked it mixed with the regular salsa. I ordered the cheese tamale plate that came with three large cheese tamales, fluffy rice, a small lettuce and tomato mound, and vegetarian pinto beans that were quite tasty. The highlight of this visit was the staff. Five stars! They know how to treat customers well.

It is a bit of a drive for us and I don't see a return visit in the future. Ms T ordered a quesadilla with chicken. The tortilla was dry. The cheese and chicken were skimpy, coming nowhere near the edge of the tortilla and the chicken was just cooked chicken with no seasoning, no salt. My huevos rancheros came with the strangest salsa on them. They were served with a tortilla underneath, which is as they should be, but the sauce was almost clear, like broth thickened with cornstarch. It had a bit of tomato, but no chile and no seasonings. It was what I call wallpaper paste for anyone old enough to know what that is. The refritos and rice were fine, not remarkable. The guacamole was decent, not an onion bomb. I also ordered a side of carnitas, which would have been good had they not been served at room temperature. I asked for corn tortillas and received more of the dry flour tortillas that Ms T had for her quesadilla. The salsa served with the complimentary totopos was the best thing of the meal but that does not warrant a return visit.
