a variety of food items on a table

This place is THE BOMB!! Oh my God, the carnitas, tortillas, chicharones, man o man. Not a lot of foods do I crave but this place es muy muy sabrosa. I could drink the guacamole sauce they make. A half pound of carnitas, comes with 8 tortillas, and 1/2 pint of chicarones, they give you foil for limes, onion, cilantro, and cups for their delicious salsas (3 kinds and a pico de gallo) and guac sauce, all for under $20 bucks. Sorry about the pics, I'll put up better ones manana. :)

OK, I'm giving this place 5 stars for the food. The service actually sucked, but the food was…read moreoutstanding! I had the Pollo Asada Burrito and my wife had the Shrimp Fajitas. The topped the burrito with green and red sauce... delicious!!! The flour tortillas were warm and soft awesome. As for the service... not good! The bartender is a rockstar, but the other server was not good. Forgot to give our drink order, forgot we asked for water, and forgot the beer I ordered. Actually, the food made up for it! Give ECT a try if you're in the Santa Fe Plaza area.

Would never come back again. ============= This review got flagged by Yelp HQ, let me rewrite this and be clear of what happened. I walked into El Callejon Taqueria and Grill, located on 208 Galisteo St Santa Fe, NM 87501 on Aug 22 2026. It was on a Saturday night, right before 9pm. This was my first weekend in the city of Santa Fe, on both Yelp and Google this location shows the restaurant closes at 11pm. When I walked in the bartender told me that it was closed. I wouldn't care that a business is closed before the listed hours; it was the way the bartender went about it. He could have politely told me that the kitchen was closed, and I would not have had any problem with it. He walked up to me within arm's length and continuously repeated "sorry we are closed" multiple times while getting closer to me. It was one of the worst experiences I have had to get escorted "asked" out of a restaurant. The experience was not good. To be clear I never get to try the food here.

Kind and quick - Parking: onsite lot, gets very crowded Came to Tomasita's on a Monday night while visiting my friend in Santa Fe. They don't take reservations and although it was very busy we were seated within 10 minutes. My friends raved about the "swirl" margaritas (Santa Fe classic, apparently) so we got a frozen margarita flight. We were able to adjust the drinks in the flight- they even made me a frozen spicy margarita although that wasn't technically on the menu. Very helpful wait staff. We shared the flautas and loaded nachos. Both were rich but fantastic. We asked for both with a side of green chiles (highly recommend). The flautas came with sopaipillas which were fresh, soft and YUMMY. (They even brought two more when we asked!) This is a vibrant place to come for special occasions or even a nice family dinner. Highly recommend especially if you're visiting!

Both times, there was what felt like a herd of people speed walking in a marathon style to get there first. I can see why it's a local favorite. The food is pretty good. The Food: New Mexican Enchilada Suiza Generous portion. The chicken was moist and flavorful. That green chili sauce on the enchiladas was bursting with flavor! The beans were average. The squash had a certain seasoning that I wasn't a fan of. Bowl of chili Generous portion. The mild did not taste mild. It was super spicy and delicious! Kid's enchilada It was good, but not my daughter's favorite. She only took a few bites after filling up on the beans. My daughter LOVES beans. She said they were good, but have had much better. Sopapillas This is where is at!!! OMG!!! Some of THE BEST sopapillas that I've ever had!! They come with a delightful honey butter and a bottle of honey. I would come back just for the sopapillas!!! Flour tortillas Not good. We're used to the Mexican style recipe that are fluffy and tasty. These were NOT fluffy or tasty. My kids said they weren't good at all. I tried a bite and agreed. House Margarita They did not hold back with the tequila! It was delicious! The Margarita mixture was perfect! Not too sweet and not overpoweringly strong. Beer Very limited selection. They had three IPAs and DosXX. I was expecting at least a tiny variety. Service: Service was a bit slow, but that's understandable due to the high volume of customers. We were part of a train arrival rush. The waitress was friendly enough, but could tell that she was feeling a bit stressed. Overall experience We will be back. The food was pretty good. We would come back just for the margaritas and sopapillas alone! We could have easily shared a meal. That might be the way to go next time.
