Eat here ...learn Spanish. This was a cultural immersion. There are many of these cafeteria style Mexican cafés in the heart of Tulsa's Little Mexico area. I have avoided them. My problem is that I look at the heated buffet displays, with trays of very similar looking bubbling caldrons of marinating Mexican meats and vegetables and I have no idea what they are. Without pictures and English descriptions, it is just confusion. The new El Gallo Loco #2 in Broken Arrow is such a restaurant. Fortunately, upon entering, the friendly Roberto greeted my wife and I, and guided us through the food ordering process. He pointed and explained the many offerings behind the buffet's protective glass. I only remember one the Carne Asada, because he offered a free sampling. He also emphasized the very large corn tortillas that are made fresh in the restaurant. Steak and a tortilla. I believe that could be called a taco. That's what we had; rice and beans on the side. The tortilla was indeed the size of the plate, folded in half and filled with savory, charcoal grilled, chopped steak. Using what little room was left in the folded tortilla, I filled with tomatoes, onions, cilantro and lettuce from the help yourself condiment bar. Salsa completed the taco construction. Some green and a good helping of the orange/red liquid hell. The taco had now swelled to a size that was unmanageable as hand held food. That is what forks are for. Not much for the kitchen staff to clean up. The plates were clean when we left. The chargrilled chopped steak was delicious. The experience was interesting. I'm looking forward to sampling the other authentic Mexican food options, bubbling behind the protective plexiglass. As we were leaving, Miguel, the owner checked on us. He was interested in our feedback on the visit and encouraged us to come back and try more. El Gallo Loco #2, a great, new dining experience in Broken Arrow.

Taco, rice and beans - so good!

Food is excellent, many choices. Hot sauce was caliente. Very clean restaurant and friendly service. I really enjoyed it.

I asked for a chicken quesadilla and got a chicken leg wrap in a tortilla. ‍, but the people were nice.

Authentic food! Tortillas were delicious and was able to taste some other items. Both the red & green sauces were a spot on as well.

I found it when he asked if there was a place I'd want to go to and I suggested somewhere in west BA because he was loving way east and I'm in Tulsa. I looked on Yelp and suggested Los Vaqueros, which just happened to already be one of his favorite places. We have come back many times together since our first meeting because the service is solid with friendly staff, the food is reliably always good, and we like hopping next door when we are done and shooting some pool. He always asks them to make shrimp quesadillas. They aren't on the menu, but they will make them and they are good! The shrimp are large and juicy. I love a lunch special when we've come for lunch (like we did for our first date), but at dinner time, I tend to lean towards the margarita chicken. Super good. A nice portion of grilled veggies, and the chicken is always moist. I like that it is pretty colorful on here. I told him that was something g that o liked when we came here on our first date. But they keep lighting lower, so it's not shockingly colorful. I just really enjoy it here!

They had a live band, and Gabby the clown was making the coolest balloon yo-yos. She spent some one-on-one time with little mama showing her tricks, which made her night. Our server was 10/10, food was 10/10, and we shared the Monterey Jack steak and bacon wrapped (yes, bacon wrapped) chicken fajitas and they were MONEY. Portion size was huge too -- we still have leftovers today. The $5 margarita special was strong and tasty, and little miss even got to ride her first mechanical bull. Safe to say we'll definitely be back.

Since this was our first visit here, we had to order our comparison dishes. Those are guacamole, birria tacos and street tacos. When we received the chips and salsa, I noticed the salsa lacked some cilantro, but had a unique flavor, different from our other favorite Mexican food establishments. My wife was really fond of it, but said it was ok. I really liked it, even if it lacked cilantro. The guacamole came out and it looked like my guac that make at home. It was very good, didn't need any additional salt and was not overpowering in lime. I'd give it 10/10. My wife ordered the chicken street tacos. She said they were the best out of all the places we go. The chicken was flavorful and the tortillas didn't fall apart. It came with a tomatillo crema that was infused with jalapeños and was too spicy for her. I got the Birria tacos and they were especially good with the crema. The birria consumé was excellent. The rice was fluffy and tender and the refried beans were on point. They serve Coke products which includes Coke Zero and they were quick with the refills. We will definitely put this place as #2 on our list of go-to Mexican cuisine establishments. They are located in the Rose District, so the prices will be slightly higher, but it's still worth the visit.

There's a parking lot in this plaza, and we were seated immediately upon arrival. They offered complementary chips and dips (salsa and queso). We ordered additional guac. The chorizo queso is sooooo good! I ordered the birria taco plate and I'd say this is very authentic compared to food back home (California)! They were generous with the birria and the consome is chefs kiss!!! The staff did a wonderful job in assuring our needs were met and that we were satisfied. I hope this place is just renovating and hopefully will reopen in the foreseeable future. I would love to see this place continue to thrive!

Really good and would order again. Rice and beans were probably above average. My dining partner asked how the chile relleno was prepared. (He doesn't like the eggy batter.) We were literally told that it came premade and frozen and was "just fried." Obviously, he ordered the street tacos instead. We sat at the bar and it took a bit to get waited on but the manager jumped in and gave us water and silverware. I liked my Blackberry-Rosemary Marg but I honestly didn't feel like it had much tequila in it. The regular marg was just OK. Since it is a tequila bar and we sat at the bar, I would have liked to have discussed tequilas but my bad for not asking. Would have loved to have done a tasting. The menu was informative. I would go back when in south Tulsa. Not sure I would make it a destination. (Well, maybe. Those enchiladas were good! It is a cute place.

We arrived around 6:45pm for the 7pm bingo, only to find out it wasn't being held on the patio as advertised. That was fine--it was hot out anyway. We were shown to a small indoor section and luckily grabbed the last high-top table. Service was very slow. We waited a while before anyone came by, and it took 40 minutes to get my margarita. Our food actually came out before our drinks. I ordered a skinny margarita but got something syrupy and full of sweet & sour mix instead. Tried to switch to wine, but surprise--they don't serve wine. At a full bar. Odd. The food was just okay at best. * "Cilantro lime" rice had corn and no trace of cilantro or lime. Not good. * Black beans with pico--bland. * Cheese enchilada--fine, but forgettable. * Queso tasted like El Chico (nostalgic, but not in a good way). * Salsa had zero spice. Our server was rarely around, and when we were ready to pay, we actually had to get up and ask the manager at the host stand to bring us our check. Not a great ending to the meal. Bingo was... fine. It moved fast but had long breaks in between rounds. We played five games and didn't win. Prizes were $10 gift cards--not bad, but not enough to bring us back.
