    Cancun Lunch
    Tamara N.

Maya on Main Street in Broken Arrow offers a lovely dining experience from an aesthetic standpoint. The restaurant is clean, well-maintained, and has a very nice interior. The staff were also excellent; the wait staff were consistently friendly and welcoming throughout my visit. I particularly enjoyed the appetizers: the thin chips were fantastic (easily my favorite part of the meal!), and the accompanying salsa was flavorful with a slight sweet note. However, the main dish I ordered, the Cancun Lunch, was disappointing. The menu describes this as two cheese enchiladas with two eggs on top, served with your choice of sauce, rice, and beans. First, I was not asked for my preference on the egg style or the sauce choice. The eggs arrived over hard, which meant there was no yummy, runny yolk--a crucial element for this type of dish--to enhance the flavor and texture. Second, the "cheese enchiladas" were not traditional. They were made with flour tortillas containing white cheese and were covered in queso blanco, rather than the corn tortillas and traditional sauce typically expected for a cheese enchilada. Finally, I found that the entire plate, including the sides, was overly salted, which detracted significantly from the overall taste. While I was disappointed with the preparation of the Cancun Lunch, the quality of the service and the clean environment suggests great potential. I will definitely return but will choose a different entrée from the menu next time.

This Mexican restaurant, Maya, was a delightful surprise for lunch! They offer enticing lunch specials and complimentary crispy chips with homemade salsa. The interior features a vibrant Maya theme, with full-size murals and a stunning backdrop of Chichen Itza, Mayan architecture. I appreciated the variety of seating options, especially the round booth, which is perfect for larger groups. (see pictures) The service was attentive and friendly. I opted for the build-your-own lunch with crispy corn taco and pulled roasted chicken as my meat option. The chicken was incredibly flavorful, cooked with sautéed onions and peppers, unlike the dry, boiled chicken found at other places. Additionally, I tried the chicken burrito and cheese enchilada, both of which came with a choice of sides. I selected the rice and steamed vegetables. The veggies were well-seasoned and flat-grilled for a nice char. My husband ordered the lunch-size chicken fajitas, which came in a generous portion. We ended up taking half of our meal home. His dish was accompanied by rice, a small salad with guacamole, lettuce, and pico de gallo, and he chose charro beans as his side. -yum I will definitely be returning, if only for the delicious chips! I'm thrilled that a place like this has opened up on Main Street.

This is our new favorite local Mexican place! We enjoyed drinks, queso, chips & salsa, a taco salad, and the birria tacos for lunch. The restaurant is very clean and nice inside, and the service is wonderful. Reasonable prices and great food = win/win!

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Incredible service, food, and cleanliness. Had my birthday dinner here and the salsa, queso, Margaritas, and our meals were truly outstanding. 10/10!!!

I wondered if the name of the restaurant was indicative of the style of Mexican cuisine? Is this Mayan style served here? It would take a very astute and well-trained culinary historian to sort out the subtle differences between modern Mayan or Aztecan inspired Mexican food. Yeah, I know the Spaniards had their spoon in the pot too. But of the two native cultures, from what I have read, I believe the Aztecans had the greater influence on the most common Mexican dishes we enjoy today. But, that's just my guess and who really cares. It is all authentic Mexican food. Well, except for "Cali Style". I was reluctant to try Maya. The pictures of the food looked as bland as a bowl of oat meal. The food at Maya is a very mildly spiced version of authentic Mexican food. If you are looking for TexMex or OkieMex heat, spice and chili powder you will be disappointed. They do have a salsa picante that will light you up though. It was the perfect additive that made Maya's good food, great food. My wife had the Double Quesadilla and I had the Burrito Rey. The Quesadillas (2) were loaded with cheese and delicious steak. The steak slices were tender with a hint of char from an open flame grill. Very good, better with salsa picante. In the middle of the plate a little salad of pico de gallo, guacamole and lettuce. Ok, now, the Burrito Rey, the King! A leviathan of the burrito family. The biggest burrito in Tulsa. Filled with everything the restaurant has. Two plates of food rolled up in a large tortilla and painted with salsa to look like the Mexican flag. Mild Salsa Verde, Queso, and a Salsa Roja. Top it with some of that Salsa Picante and it's a meal. I hurt when I left the restaurant. (Check the pictures) Bigger and better than any burrito that you will get at the "Fresh Mex" place plus you get chips salsa and service. And the food is served HOT on a real plate! Maya is nicely decorated inside with art and scenes of the Mayan culture. No bright primary colors, sombreros, donkeys or cactus. Roomy, the restaurant can handle a crowd. Maya has lunch specials. Daily specials are listed on the sandwich board sign out front or ask your server. Great Lunch, excellent service from Marisela. If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check the collection "Jalapeno Highway." I've probably been there.

First visit to MAYA. The service was quick efficient and we were never lacking for refills of drinks and the adult beverages. The ambiance and decor is very pleasantly decorated to reflect the name and food. The restaurant has a selection of food that should satisfy most guests. I have some questions about specific dishes. Four people, four separate dishes, four opinions that were unanimous that this was by far the best Mexican food we had had since moving from Tucson. The Chili Colorado will definitely make you break a sweat. Great spice burn , but not the burn that you can't taste anything again for hours. The Elote was delicious, so good that I didn't think about the picture until I was finished. A touch more Tajin and the corncob to be hotter. The charro beans were not salty as some can be. I would definitely recommend and give this business a two twirling forks up

Really good and would order again. Rice and beans were probably above average. My dining partner asked how the chile relleno was prepared. (He doesn't like the eggy batter.) We were literally told that it came premade and frozen and was "just fried." Obviously, he ordered the street tacos instead. We sat at the bar and it took a bit to get waited on but the manager jumped in and gave us water and silverware. I liked my Blackberry-Rosemary Marg but I honestly didn't feel like it had much tequila in it. The regular marg was just OK. Since it is a tequila bar and we sat at the bar, I would have liked to have discussed tequilas but my bad for not asking. Would have loved to have done a tasting. The menu was informative. I would go back when in south Tulsa. Not sure I would make it a destination. (Well, maybe. Those enchiladas were good! It is a cute place.

We were shown to a small indoor section and luckily grabbed the last high-top table. Service was very slow. We waited a while before anyone came by, and it took 40 minutes to get my margarita. Our food actually came out before our drinks. I ordered a skinny margarita but got something syrupy and full of sweet & sour mix instead. Tried to switch to wine, but surprise--they don't serve wine. At a full bar. Odd. The food was just okay at best. * "Cilantro lime" rice had corn and no trace of cilantro or lime. Not good. * Black beans with pico--bland. * Cheese enchilada--fine, but forgettable. * Queso tasted like El Chico (nostalgic, but not in a good way). * Salsa had zero spice. Our server was rarely around, and when we were ready to pay, we actually had to get up and ask the manager at the host stand to bring us our check. Not a great ending to the meal. Bingo was... fine. It moved fast but had long breaks in between rounds. We played five games and didn't win. Prizes were $10 gift cards--not bad, but not enough to bring us back.

It used to be out on Highway 51 towards Coweta, then several years ago, they relocated to Tiger Plaza on Kenosha. Her and her husband bought the restaurant recently. She explained that even though they retained the name and menu they are in no way related to the other Los Mariachis Mexican Restaurant operating in Jenks. She emphasized that. The restaurant has a burrito they call the Burrito El Bravo. It is filled with grilled beef, homemade chorizo, refried beans, shredded cheese, and pico de gallo. The pico de gallo was made with fresh chopped jalapenos, lots of jalapenos. The overstuffed burrito was then covered with queso. Fresh cut crunchy potato chips came with the meal.
