I'm VERY happy with AJ and the service he provided. I have a 1996 Ski Natique that needed the usual impeller change and a fresh overview. Thankfully, everything went well, but he spent the extra time going over things I had not even mentioned, for example checking belts, tightening hose clamps, tightening packing nuts on the prop shaft as well as the rudder. I feel what separated AJ from the other boat shops, is that he did not just look at the one thing he was requested to do, but actually spent the time going over everything to ensure nothing major was missing. Wow! This is the guy you want working on your boat. Honest, reliable, extremely knowledgeable, and friendly. I took my boat to 2 other shops before El Dorado Mobile for rpm gauge malfunctioning or being inaccurate. The first guy didn't know how to fix it. The second was a professional shop in Loomis(Cals Marine), and they told me the tachometer needs to be replaced. AJ adjusted the pin setting on the tach and it fixed the issue. Another problem was a cracked gear oil hose. Cals said because that's cracked I should replace all bellows and seals etc. a major job. AJ was able to replace the hose without removing everything saving me tons of money because my belows and seals were still good. He also did a 100 hour service in less than 4 hours which is fantastic. I highly recommend this shop , please ignore the negative 1 star reviews. First and foremost, couldn't be happier with Eldorado Mobile Marine . Being a DIY guy, I couldn't figure out my 2007 Mercury outboard's issue. Paid other guys to come out and they wanted to take motor apart after 15 minutes. 6 months later I gave up and found Eldorado Mobile Marine. He came out and it was amazing to watch a master mechanic go step by step talking through the process and ruling out what was not the issues and after some time he was able to pin point the exact part that was causing my gas to flood into my cylinder's getting into oil. I spent my money, time, my sanity, listening to other mechanics incompetence! It ended up being a $90 part and super easy to replace. Issue was my Penta drive unit would not go up/down. Turned out to be a (hard to find) pinched wire shorting out on the control unit. Bad wiring job from the factory 22 years ago that came to roost. It is the weekend before July 4th. The boat is a dead stick. Call AJ on Saturday. He says he will make time on Sunday afternoon at no extra charge to give it a look. I tell him with my limited knowledge what observations I have. He comes prepared with parts that he thinks might be the problem. Good forward thinking. He is correct about all of the parts, but another was broken and it was to late in the day (Sunday evening!) to get the right one. Next day (Monday) he comes back, reaffirms his diagnosis of the problem, gets the right part, and now the boat is up and running. But it gets better. We go for a test drive because AJ wants to be sure we are good. We barely get past the marina and the boat starts having issues on the water. AJ sighs a smile, pulls the engine cover off and repairs it on the spot AND tunes the motor because, well, he is a pro. AJ is a very busy guy, and I noticed he was so focused on my boat and respectful of my time, he did not take phone calls. Despite short notice, a tough troubleshoot, and late hours on a Sunday and Monday, it did not stop him from getting the job done professionally and with integrity. AJ is fantastic. After a terrible noise/loss of power sidelined our boat, AJ was able to sneak us into his schedule within two weeks (every other shop in the area was at least four weeks). He came to our house and diagnosed the issue within a minute or two (gimbal bearing). The job turned out to be more complicated than expected since the bearing had exploded and had to be cut out, but AJ towed the boat back to his shop and still finished the job the same day, returning the boat early the next morning. The fact that he is mobile and can do most jobs in your driveway is a huge bonus.
