We like El Dorado for a quick bit of authentic Mexican food close to home. We always take it home to go, and they package it up nicely. I recommend ordering ahead since they can be really busy during peak times. The chorizo cheese dip is a favorite around here along with their quesadillas and tacos. I have to say this is one of the best place for Mexican food. I went here when I was pregnant about nine months ago I got nachos. They were bomb as fuck! This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant so far. The service is not very consistent and when they are busy, the wait for food is annoyingly long. Not good when you are on a timed lunch break. But I always forgive them and come back. The complimentary chips and salsa are addictive and salsa is not too spicy like some places. I usually get lengua (ox tongue) and carnitas taco. The steak is usually a little too salty for me. The carnita torta is yummy too, the guac and beans make it soooo delicious. Another favorite is their chicken soup. Some salty goodness with tomato, avocado, chicken, cilantro, lime, and rice. The fajita nachos are bomb. Comes with cheese sauce, shrimp, steak, chicken, and bell peppers and onions. We've been back a few times since our first review and I have mainly stuck to the usual orders of taco pastor or the torta pastor. I recommend the tacos if you are ever at the cross roads of which to pick. Even though the tacos are quite smaller, just double your order. At less than $2 for each, you're not going to blow the bank on them, but the 'crunchy" effect of the pastor is much more evident in the tacos than they are in the tortas. On our most recent trip, I decided to venture out and try a shrimp toastada. It looked very appetizing, was a pretty decent amount, and came with a few slices of fresh avocado (yum!). If you can put up with a terrible service, this is one of the best authentic Mexican restaurant in Metro Atlanta in my personal opinion. My personal favorite at this place is the "Pollo Ranchero". Let me warn you, this is really hot stuff. Unless you don't mind waking up in the morning fanning your bottom, do not try it. It is hot-hot-hot, tasty-tasty-tasty, but not for everyone. Chicken breast cooked in hot and extremely spicy ranchero sauce can give your tongue sense of volcano but is equally tasty. The other dish I like is the molcajete which is moderate in spice, but really delicious and comes in the stone bowl to give a traditional look and feel. I give this place 4 star out of 5 for the fantastic food, but take away one star for the terrible service. I wish the restaurant does something about the waits and delays - adds more staff probably. I was waiting to make my to go order and I witnessed abuse for the Asian lady in front of me. She checked her order before leaving and it was incorrect, she asked the young "to pretty for her own good" hostess girl to correct it. The hostess was disrespectful to the Asian lady and told her she had to order more instead of correcting the order. She paid again by putting money on the counter. The hostess in a rush gave her wrong change and the Asian lady corrected her politely. The hostess opened the register and threw the coins on the table at the lady. This place is amazing. The staff is wonderful. Even when they are packed I am well taken care of. I go in there more than I should and the servers remember me without being like "oh you again" Now the food, Tacos-amazing. I really enjoy the food here but the customer service is hit or miss. They apparently aren't well equipped to handle rush hr crowds. They rarely answer the phones, and on my last visit- wasn't allowed to place an order because, they were too full (indoors) to handle to-go orders. I've only done carry out from here but it's met my expectations every time. The pastor tacos are big and heavy. I do miss Taco Depot's brown hot salsa and their habanero salsa, but the stuff here is pretty hot. You get more food for less money than some of the other taco joints so this is now my weekly treat after evening class at GGC. read more

Hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant by far. I'm not a big fan of Hispanic food since I eat a lot of it at home but I'm so happy I stopped at this place. It's a dainty little place but even at 3 pm on a Thursday there was a good amount of people inside. Me and my boyfriend ordered a platter, called molcajete, that came with chicken, steak, sausage (we left the sausage out), quesadillas, sweet onions, a spicy broth, guac, and so much more. For 2 people it filled us up so quick and it was only $15 dollars which was good enough for the both us. We ordered some tacos as well that were just as great. When I lived in Spain, I really, really, really missed Mexican food. Now that I am back in the States, I am thrilled to be able to find authentic local places where the food is consistent and delicious. El Dorado is definitely one of my go-to places, and they are happy to prepare non-meat food for me without some of the ingredients that I don't like (green bell peppers are my kryptonite, GAStronomically speaking). I have had quesadillas, taco salads, and other food from their menu, made without meat, and have been satisfied every time. No, it's not super-high-end, but it's good food at a good price. We've been a patron of this restaurant for years. But recently two events have basically blacklisted this restaurant within our family. The first event was not allowing us to order food for pickup. We had to drive there, order the food, pay and wait. (We have ordered food for pickup COUNTLESS times without issue.) The second event was just the overall attitude of the servers. The older woman was incredibly rude to us while we were waiting for her to clean a table for us. Is that absolutely necessary? She also has the habit of upselling the burrito especial... the regular burrito is so much better. The food is good, but not so good we will be returning. We're not in the Duluth area all that often, but decided to try out El Dorado today based on Yelp reviews. I'm torn between a 3 and a 4 here. My wife would probably give it a 4.5. If you "like it hot", you'll do fine here, but they seem to go a little overboard for my tastes. My first warning was the salsa that came with the chips -- One of the hottest I've had in recent memory. Also, I bit into a few uncooked spots in two of the chips - Never a fun experience when that happens. That was probably the tipping point between a "4" and a "3" on this review. We noticed a large dish on several of the tables and the server told us it was the El Dorado Molcajete, described on the menu as "Grilled chicken, steak, and sausage strips. Cheese quesadilla inside. Served with green onions, banana pepper, tomato slices, avocado slices, and queso fresco slices. (Cooked with our delicious spicy home made salsa). With corn or flour tortillas." The server (but not the menu) mentioned that it was a serving size for two people. Unfortunately, the waitress described it as "very spicy", so that was out for me (especially given my experience with the salsa). If however, you like it hot, you should give this a try. So instead I went with an asada steak quesadilla (which I'd noticed in some Yelp reviews) and a pollo taco on corn tortilla. The quesadilla was good, and a great value for the price. The taco was quite good, but the tortilla was a bit hard on the edge; not up to the quality and taste of some other restaurants around. I'd probably go with a flour tortilla here next time. Both the chicken and the steak had great flavor. My wife went with the Carne Asada a la Mexicana, and quite enjoyed it. When we arrived at 2:30 or so on Saturday, the place was about half-full, but it was packed by the time we were done around 3:15. I do wish they communicated better about paying at the counter. It's table service, where the server takes your order at the table, but they never bring you a check -- You just are supposed to know that you go to the counter when you are done. Since this isn't "normal" restaurant behavior, they should make sure the server tells customers this when they take away the dishes. When my wife asked me whether or not we'd received the check yet, I remembered reading this tidbit in another Yelp review, and then watched someone at the table behind us go up to the counter. Overall, would have loved to have seen: - A "less hot" salsa. Many Mexican restaurants that have "very spicy" salsa will have an alternative available. - Better chips - Better corn tortilla - A heads-up on paying at the counter read more

At first, we were a little put off when entering the door and realizing just how small this place was. The place is a very tiny little restaurant but it has a colorful and authentic atmosphere. For such a small space they really did a lot to make to look nice. When you enter on your right you'll see two small booths located under a Mexican balcony complete with faux windows and even trash bags... On the left, an arching celing seating several more booths with the underside painted sky blue with fluffy white clouds complete with village mural painted on the wall. We seated ourself being that it was such a small place, a hostess is not needed. It's basically first come first serve for seating. There are about 4-5 booths on the left side and 3 on the right. In the middle of the place was a really long table with many chairs, kind of like the setup you see for large parties at other restaurants. They quickly brought out chips and salsa and we were immediately greeted by our waitress who seemed to be pleased to be serving us. The menus she gave us were a bit cheap looking, like they made them in Word. This was fine however as the menu had a gigantic selection, very surprising for a tiny place and definitely rivaling bigger chain restaurants. We ordered our drinks but were a little disappointed that they don't have anything on tap. All the beers are bottled and from what I could tell, the sodas are too. A minor complaint however and the beers were reasonably priced. After reading other reviews on Yelp, we decided trying the tacos was definitely a must. This wasn't a choice that either of us regretted as the tacos were absolutely amazing. I had 4 tacos, the Chorizo, Carne Asada, Pollo and Carnitas. The girlfriend had 3, the same as me minus the Pollo and made America Style. The American Style tacos have lettuce, sour cream and shredded cheese. We also had a side of frijoles. The tacos they serve here are real Mexican cantina style soft tacos. Not the hard shell fakey American tacos that Taco Bell serves. Our food arrived quickly and the tacos looked absolutely delicious. I dove in pretty quickly and was pretty generous with distributing the red salsa they brought out to us. My favorite taco by far was the Chorizo. The others were good but this one was amazing to me. This may be because I had never had it before but I definitely know which taco I'll be having next time. The frijoles were nothing special however, about the same as any other place. Over all, I really loved the place. For two people, a grand total of 7 tacos, 2 frijoles and 2 beers, the total came out to $22. For the price and 2 people leaving stuffed, this place really can't be beat. Don't let the small size and being located in a weird place, right in the middle of a huge Korean area, put you off of eating here. It's definitely in our rotation of places to eat. read more

Smack dab in the middle of Little Korea in Gwinnett stands a little taqueria, like a Mexican food embassy. Taco El Dorado is in the Gwinnett Place corridor, next to Suno Desserts, and that might be a good place to go afterwards. The place is more than a taco stand and the decor is actually pretty decent for such a small place. We were the only Anglos in the place, and when we went to the counter to order, the cashier asked us if we were eating in, and when we said yes, like the miracle of Guadalupe, she transformed into a waitress. Language was not a barrier at all, and she found us some English menus. This place makes a really good michelada, and the waitress recommended using Negro Modelo, and it was surprisingly good. The menu selection is larger than most taquerias, and they have more authentic choices like taco lengua (tongue) and taco cabeza ("head", which I'm assuming is beef cheek and not brain). The prices are ridiculously low... you'll spend more at Taco Bell. They also have more elaborate dinner choices, but I think this place is more taqueria than restaurant and really excels at tacos and tortas. The waitress automatically brought salsa for us, and I guess because we were Anglos asked if we wanted chips. The micheladas arrived slowly, but the dinners arrived swiftly - I guess the cook had to do both since there's no bar there. My tacos were very tasty, but not quite as good as my top-tier taquerias. Service was good, especially considering there were only two employees (cook and counter) working, and the only negative I can think of was the over-loud jukebox in the corner clashing with Sabado Gigante on the TV. The food here is great. Everything is always served fresh and has a more authentic flavor than the typical Americanized establishments. The lunch specials are quite the deal if you get iced tea. The lunch deal isn't quite as nice if you prefer soft drinks, as they don't have a fountain machine so soft drinks are served by the bottle. It fills up fast at the lunch hour so come early. There's a dozen or so tables inside. If you plan to eat in, the service is usually ran by one or two employees that are also answering calls and running the pickup window so service can be very slow at times, but the staff is always hustling and moving quickly. There's plenty of variety on the menu. If you're open for suggestions, try the Molcajete or the Fajita Nachos. Both are surprisingly delicious! read more

A taco joint in the middle of K-town? You bet. A good one at that. I had 3 tacos: 2 Pastor and 1 Asada. Both were very good with loads of flavor, plenty of meat, cilantro and onions. Pastor was my favorite. These come on double corn tortillas although of the store bought variety rather than hand rolled. Chips and salsa? Check. Extra sauces to put on the taco? Check. Clean restaurant with a 95 H.D. score? Check. Good service? Check. The right price? Check. Plus, the location is perfect right next door to my hair salon and right in front of Super H.
