Ok, to qualify, I'm a gringo who work in Mexico back in the 80's and fell in love with street food. This is a great spot for the real deal. This is not Americanized Mexican or Tex-Mex foods, these are the traditional dishes. The street tacos are a simple and perfect. Warning: if you are not familiar with real ethnic Mexican this will be a very different and I hope surprisingly good experience. Only negative is they are almost always packed due to limited seating and they don't even bother trying to answer the phones. Be ready for a wait, but I think it's worth it. This place is right in the middle of Korea Town so it is definitely easy to spot it. To be clear its in the shopping center facing Pleasant Hill road not in the same strip mall as H Mart but real close. Im from San Diego and these tacos are legit, the tacos are store bought so they could be better. But I would definitely go back here for some more delicious Cabeza Tacos. I had Cabeza, Carne Asada, Chorizo, Shredded Pork and these are listed in the order of being my favorites. They were all awesome though. Online states that they close at 10pm and I come in at 8:35pm and you can only make to go orders. Wasted an hr drive to get rejected . They should definitely fix the hours online . ElDorado Review: Bad restaurant. Bad employees. First time here. Won't be back. And after reading other's reviews it looks like I had similar problems they did. Customer service is nonexistent as is lack of acknowledging paying customers. Not sure how anyone can run a business like this. Came in to place a to go order. Never been here before and the people in front of me were almost instantly immediately greeted. Maybe the person who greeted them saw I was by myself and didn't think I'd be a very large order. As I wasn't greeted, I had no clue where to go to place a to go order. Finally one employee, cleaned a table and pointed for me to sit there. I tried to say to go order and he had already walked away. By now several minutes had passed still no help whatsoever. Then some other person walked in and went up towards the front and was going to be served before me. I finally got someone's attention and they said that I'd have to get in line. I said I was already here and that's when I noticed a very small sign that is in hand writing that says "to go orders". Came before everyone else and was told by an employee that I wasn't where to go was and they shrugged it off. This isn't how you treat paying customers who come to your restaurant for the first time. My experience here has been okay. I have had the tacos, the fajitas, and nachos. They have all been pretty decent. I still have other things to try. Tortas and enchiladas are on my list. I really need them to be open during the posted hours though. I can count three different occasions when I have gone by here and they have not been opened when they should have been. Once there was a note on the door apologizing for the inconvenience. It was usually early in the week when they should be opened until 9, but shut down before then. The employees have been kind during my experiences with them. It is a small, tight place, but welcoming. Prices are very reasonable. read more

WHERE'S THE MEXI-SPICE? You know what I loved about visiting Mexico? All of those unique and authentic experiences that had nothing to do with being American: staying in a Mexican hotel or condo, riding the slow bus to Cancun from Merida and sharing the ride with chickens and locals who can't stop staring, and riding the Mexi-bus to the Mexican mall (with armed guards), on the other side of town. The Mexi-bus was not air conditioned and did not have music or drapes along the window, but it had that guy who kept turning around to stare at us and finally on the fourth time he actually gave us a thumbs up and said "Obama!". Priceless!! These are the experiences that make the best memories much like eating really great Mexican food. When I visit a Mexican restaurant, I only want to see ONE American staple, a large glass of chilled water with ice. When it comes to the food, I fully expect to be transported to a small Mexican food stand with phenomenal food, that is simple but delicious! To sum it all up, I like my Mexican food like I like my Mexican vacations: totally authentic. I usually keep my orders very simple, so it is important for the seasoning to be on point. I like a depth of flavor that tickles my tongue and I like to have every component of the dish seasoned before it is assembled so that everything is well seasoned. If I had been eating my food (chicken burritos, rice and beans) with a blind-fold, I would not be able to tell that it was a Mexican dish. It was a bit plain and under-seasoned, had too much cheese and when I tasted my husband's sour cream, it tasted Americanized and not like that clean, (flavor) rich cream you find on a very authentic menu. I missed the taste of authentic spices and thinly cut freshly prepared, still warm chips. If you are visiting this restaurant on a weekend or during high traffic times, just remember that it is small and a bit congested. Seating is limited and you probably wouldn't want to bring a large group here because there is no private, "off the main" seating. When you enter the space, you have seating to the left, right and down the center. At the time that we visited, (Saturday afternoon), they seemed a little short on staff. The environment was very casual and the customer service was warm, friendly and efficient. If you are interested in more traditional flavors, perhaps you should choose one of their more traditional dishes and ask the waitress/waiter for recommendations. read more

El Dorado is located in a small strip of shops on Pleasant Hill. It is a little place with a handful of booths and a couple of long tables in the middle. Be prepared to either wait or be open to sit with strangers if you are by yourself or with a small group. 4 of us came on a Friday night at about 6:30 and were able to grab one of the tables in the middle. We actually had another dude named Greg that we didn't know sit with us and we chatted about how sitting with strangers was common in eateries in other places in the world and how it is only in America that we are so concerned about privacy and stranger danger in public. He was fun and we had a good time talking with him. My friends frequent this little joint for their tasty food and their cheap prices, but this was my first time. The menu at El Dorado is full of Mexican favorites like tacos, burritos, quesadillas, fajitas, tortas, and other yummy Mexican goodness but it has a more authentic feel and taste to it. For drinks, they have a selection of bottled beer and bottled soda or you can order a Michelada, which is like a Bloody Mary made with beer. Here is what we had: Taco de carnitas Taco de pastor Taco de chorizo Tostada Mixta de Ceviche con Cameron (Ceviche Tostada with Shrimp) Steak Fajitas Cheese Dip First and foremost, I have to rant and rave about the Tostada! It was AMAZING! Honestly, it was the best ceviche tostada I have ever had and I would order it every time. I closed my eyes and did a little dance while I was eating it. My friend Heather suggested it. She orders it every time and I can totally see why. First of all, it is totally worth the $4.50 because it is loaded with fish and shrimp! They do not skimp! The flavor was also so good! With some ceviche, they overdo the lime so much that you lose the flavor of the fish. This was not the case. Also, I will say the shrimp just added so much to the tostada. It really was perfect! I also had two tacos- the chorizo and the pastor. Both tacos are served on soft corn tortillas with onions and cilantro and both were fantastic! I could order both of them every time. The pastor (chopped season pork) was flavored wonderfully and the chorizo (sausage) was scrumptious and not overly greasy. Make sure to ask them to bring out sides of their special salsas. They have a green one and a red one. Both are spicy and have different flavors. The red is a little smoky and the green is more tomatillo flavored. They are both super delish and go well with the tacos. I also had a bite of one of my friend's carnitas tacos. They are her favorite and she ordered 2 and 1 chorizo taco. The carnitas was also very juicy and tasty. I also tasted a bite of the fajitas which were also fine. Although with the tacos and tostadas and other things on the menu, I would probably skip the fajitas in favor for something else. The cheese dip was the standard fare white cheese dip and was perfectly decent. The chips are what I liked! I honestly do not like the thin brittle dainty tortilla chips that some restaurants serve. They break off in your dip and then you get little crumbs everywhere! And forget about eating them with guacamole! These were REAL tortilla chips! The good thick perfectly salted kind that you can really put some dip on. I liked that! I saw a couple of other tables order the Molcajete, which is this huge volcanic stone dish that is filled with chicken, steak, chorizo and a cheese quesadilla inside these spicy delectable smelling sauces. OMG! I was a little jealous! It was incredible looking and according to my friends is wonderful and plenty to share. I am coming back to this place! It really was fantastic! My favorite Mexican spot in the sea of Asian establishments known as Pleasant Hill. It's pretty close to my hair place so I always make a habit to stop by every so often. The interior is a little run down, with old murals on the walls, sticky tables, and aged upholstery lining the seats in the booth. I've only gotten the tacos at this place, and they're one of the best I've had. Double wrapped in corn tortillas, the steak ones and the chicken ones were savory and tender. What I love about this place is that there's a large selection of tacos on the menu, from common stuff like chorizo to more obscure meats. For just $1.50 a taco, can't really beat that. Complementary chips and salsa were great too, spicy no doubt. read more

Nothing makes me happier then delicious food paired with amazing customer service. I was craving enchiladas and nachos and after searching around I ended up here. I came on a Thursday night a hour before closing and so thrilled with the upbeat personalities everyone had (it made me feel less bad about ordering food at the last minute). The gentlemen that took our order was patient and went over a few items and even made some suggestions. My friend ordered Nachos Supreme and I went with the Enchiladas Verde. Nachos Supreme - were oh so good. The employee suggested to put the cheese on the side since we did not want soggy tortillas and this was a great idea. The food was still hot and fresh when we arrived home. I actually ate a good amount of nachos because everything tasted so well together. Enchiladas Verde - of course you can not go wrong with chicken enchiladas. This particular order has the green sauce on top and it can be a bit spicy so just be cautions when placing this order. It's packed with chicken with rice and beans on the side. Yummy! We also ordered a side of rice since my friend loves it so much. The verde enchiladas with beef were delicious and the burrito special was outstanding! What I appreciate most is that they actually season the meat (chicken and beef) rather than just putting it in the burrito/enchilada and hoping the sauce flavor will suffice. I'm from California so my taste in Mexican food varies from what I've found out here in the south. This is a place I'll come back to for sure!! Sorry the pictures were taken after we enjoyed. This place has the best taco carne and chorizo! Whenever I'm craving tacos, this is my go-to place because they're delicious and very affordable. The service is great and who doesn't love free chips and salsa? Their tortas are amazing as well. I think whatever you decide to order from here will be great! The service can be a bit slow if it's really busy, but they try their best. It's a small restaurant so if its busy, the wait can be a bit long. When you receive your bill, it might be faster to go up to the front to pay since there are usually only 2 servers on the floor. I can't say enough good things about El Dorado. Let me start with, $6.50 lunch specials with drinks included. What a deal! Also quality is guaranteed. The thing that I fell in love with it is its rice. The yellow rice comes with fresh corns and beans every time. Their beans are so tender that I swallow it directly without biting. I ordered fajita combo($8.50) today. From steak to bell peppers, they all came on spot. I even got guacamole in my dish :D Big bonus. Their tortillas seemed house made too. If you're a taco fan, then this is your new favorite restaurant. They have a nice variety of tacos all for a super reasonable price of 1.50 per taco. These tacos are super filling too, and the corn tortillas are fresh and warm with every order. My personal favorite is the carne asada taco. It's so amazing! The meat is flavorful and well cooked, and the onions and cilantro are fresh and fragrant. They also give chips and salsa free at every table and all of their salsas are great. The salsa can get a bit spicy, but if you're a fan of spice then you'll love it! They also have great queso and guacamole. Also, try the horchata! It's perfect. This place is where I think I fell in love with Mexican cuisine. I've had burritos from the usual suspects (Qdoba, Moe's, and Chipotle) and I really like them from these places. But since sizing down my portions, I find it really hard to justify eating a 600-800 calorie burrito. So in search of leaner meals of the Mexican variety, I stopped by Taco El Dorado. I am glad to say that I've never looked back. Been here more than a handful of times, due to its convenient location (next to SunO in the H-Mart plaza--which leads me to think, what isn't in that plaza!?) and amazing (cheap) food. I have tried the chicken and carne asada tacos, which I really love and always order. Others that have dined with me get the pastor and chorizo tacos and those are equally good (I think I will probably add pastor to my rotation the next time I stop in). Tacos are incredibly fresh, each with 2 delicious corn tortillas and a generous heap of whatever filling you asked for. These are then topped with onions and cilantro (I personally ask for the onions to be held). I load up on the salsa that's provided with the free chips that are brought to the table before entrees comes out. OMG... 3 tacos are perfect to fill me up without leaving me lethargic. The food is so fresh and light that I leave with a little skip to my stroll. The food from this place makes me happy (my wallet may actually be even more joyous than me, if that's possible). Solid good 4 star food. They get penalized a star for service issues and lack of attention to detail. 1. Requested lemon and warm water. None was given. 2. Requested fresh jalapenos to be cooked in with my fajitas. The lady seemed confused, but then wrote it down. None were in my fajita salad. 3. I really enjoyed the chips and salsa that came out at the bringing of the meal. The chips were thin, crispy, and slightly warmed. Great salsa -spicy and fresh. As far as Mexican places in the Gwinnett area, this is the best and most authentic. The interior says Mexican, with orange, yellow, and blue paint. Customers and employees are Mexican. They have soccer playing on two large TVs. It's a small restaurant, but it doesn't get too crowded. Conveniently located right next to Suno's, you can cool down the spicyness with shaved ice afterwards. I got two tacos and the Molcajete El Dorado (which a fellow Yelper mentioned). Tacos are $1.50 to $1.75, about a fistful of meat in a double layered flour/corn tortillas. The monster came our bubbling in a great stone bowl. It's temperature hot. The green chili sauce in the mini (plastic) stone bowl is spicy hot. The only downside to this place is the lack of service. Not because the employees are rude or anything - they were really nice and friendly. It's because the place gets busy and they don't have enough people.
