Sloppy Joe
Stephanie F.

LOVE LOVE LOVE.!!! Food is soooo good. My boyfriend got the cubano, I got the sloppy Joe, my daughter got the chicken plate and I also bought a side of plantains. Everything was delicious, not ONE complaint. Definitely will be returning. The owner was so kind, you can tell the love also goes into the food.

This Food Truck is FIRE! Great authentic Cuban food! I loved the Cubano Sandwhich with French fries! The fries were just like McDonald French fries. Light and crunchy! The man working in the truck was friendly and helpful as well! Highly recommend eating at this truck!

I ate half I couldn't wait!!

El Cubano Kitchen delivers incredible flavor and authenticity. The Cubano sandwich was outstanding--perfectly toasted bread, juicy pork, and a delicious balance of savory and tangy. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. It's one of the best sandwiches I've had, and I'd honestly eat it every day. Highly recommend!

El Cubano Kitchen -- A Little Taste of Cuba Right Here in the OC! If you haven't made your way to El Cubano Kitchen yet, stop what you're doing and go. This food truck is an absolute gem. I ordered the Picadillo Sloppy Joe -- ground beef simmered in a house-made tomato sauce with green olives, onions, and bell peppers on a soft Cuban roll -- and I am still thinking about it. Rich, layered, and deeply authentic. Every bite felt like a little piece of Cuban culinary tradition. The menu has something for everyone -- classic Cubano sandwiches, hearty Platos like Lechon and Ropa Vieja, appetizers like croquetas and tostones, and more. Impressive variety, all made with obvious care. This is not fast food. This is home cooking on wheels! The ambiance around this truck is something special -- it genuinely feels like you've been invited to someone's home for a homecooked meal. Vibrant tropical colors, hanging flower baskets, good energy all around. And the service is exceptional. Warm, friendly, and passionate. Luis's love for Cuban food and culture comes through in every interaction and ingredient. 10/10. Will be back again!

I keep seeing them when we go to the Orange farmers market and have never had the opportunity to swing by. Until today... and glad we did!! They probably have the best potato balls I have ever tried. Way better than Porto's. My regret is that I didn't order more. Their chicken plate is so good, the sauce and beans were excellent! If you ever see them parked somewhere make sure you pass by and order more than one set of potato balls.

Sloppy Joe (not like you mama's!!)

Top notch, authentic flavors and just dang good! Can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but I like the polo, ropa or the sloppy Joe!

Best Cuban sandwich ever!!!!

Owner is amazing so sweet and the food is fantastic!!! Best Cuban food in OC by far. From the sandwiches to the sides like the potato balls and plantains everything was perfect! I will be going again very soon!

Is this El Cubano Kitchen or El Rico? Why did the owner change the name of the business?

We made a reservation ahead of time, and when we arrived, our table was decorated with rose petals and a cute anniversary card. Such a thoughtful little detail that made our celebration feel extra special! For food, I ordered my usual, the Ropa Vieja, and it's honestly a 10/10 every time! The meat is always packed with flavor, and their rice is literally my favorite! My husband ordered the New York steak, which was super buttery, tender, and seared to perfection. We also ordered a side of their Caribbean fries, and the dipping sauce was SO good! For drinks, my husband ordered El Cubanito, which was really good! I went with the Agua de Coco, which literally comes served in a coconut! I also ordered a shot of their Havana Club Añejo to go with it, and I loved the combination. Definitely something I would order again! Overall, such a wonderful experience! Between the delicious food, drinks, and the thoughtful anniversary setup, it made our evening feel even more special. Habana continues to be one of my favorite spots, and I would absolutely recommend it, especially for a date night or special occasion!

Recently visited Isla because I was craving some Ropa Vieja and thats exactly what I had!…read more Been here a few times and other than the place being noticeably not crowded, all is great just as I had remember. The whole vibe is on point with a great wait staff and delicious food. Had reservations for 7:15 pm and was immediately seated. Waiter stop by to introduce himself and took our drink order for 2 old fashioned cocktails. Started off with the chicken empanadas and for the main Ropa Vieja of course. My guest went with the Ranchera Asada, which I was able to sample. Another delicious dish but my favorite still stands. For dessert the flan. Made fresh daily. Can't go wrong here. No complaints and no regrets. I will be back again soon. On to the next....

The ceviche was a little sweet, which was different, but still really good. The empanadas were good too, we had the beef so next time i want to try a different protein I got the chicken sandwich. Pretty simple, but really good. The fires were good, i like the shoe string ones. My coworker got the habanero salmon and I tried some of hers. I was expecting it to be spicy, but it really wasn't. I don't have a high spice tolerance and it was fine for me. Service was okay, but the restaurant was clean and modern. Prices were pretty reasonable too, especially nowadays. Overall, good food, reasonable prices and for sure somewhere I'd go back to

What a beautiful restaurant! The space is large, gorgeous, and full of character, with great music,…read moreexcellent service, and everything inspired by the vibrant spirit of Havana, Cuba. The atmosphere makes the whole experience feel special, and even the bathroom was worth taking a picture of! The food was delicious! We ordered the shrimp mofongo, and it was hands down the best mofongo we have had so far! The flavors were incredible, and it was definitely the highlight of the meal. We also enjoyed the lechón asado, which was delicious, along with the empanadas and ham croquetas. To complement the food, we tried a rum flight, which was a great addition to the experience. We finished with a bom bom coffee, an espresso with condensed milk that was the perfect sweet ending to an amazing meal. Between the delicious food, great drinks, beautiful ambiance, and wonderful service, this place is a must-visit in Irvine. We had such a great time and would absolutely come back!

Everything is great except for the jumping prices. Looking through old pictures of past menus (on…read moreYelp) shows how several price increases in the past 3 years. Price increases in our past three years are certainly expected, however, the hike since April's menu to yesterday (10/3/2026), seems unreasonable. The Churrasco entree (Cuban herb chimichurri with sharp citrus notes) for $50 gives you a very thin skirt steak with a corn cob, white rice, and black beans in a skinny ramekin (tiny, tall egg cup in this instance), whose price seems unjustified. However, $44 dollars would make more sense, including the value-add of the remarkable ambiance and terrific service. The next time, I will ask them how many ounces meat dishes before ordering to negotiate price to product. Be certain to ask for your corn cob to be served off-the-cob: it has sprinkled cotija cheese and a thin coat of unseasoned enchilada sauce on it. The *curved blade of the steak knife that comes with this entree is almost impossible to cut the kernels off of the cob without making a disaster. I asked for more of the churrasco sauce, with a citrus tang that was served minimally, under the skirt steak -- it was also outstanding with the corn and white rice.
