Pretty decent Mexican food for the price. It's built in an old Taco Bell, which turned me off at first because I could remember the childhood cringes as my mother drove down Pulaski. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night. Elote is delicious, and they make a good pozole. The chicken and mole was a little bland. Tacos are nice and hardy and come with a decent amount of meat, though little cheese. They also made a good hamburger if you've dragged along a tacophobic friend. In addition there is some non-meat choices for lent or your vegetarian friends. They offer a taco pack if your ordering for more than yourself. There's the small which is about ten and comes with 6 tacos, rice, beans, salsa ( rojo, verde, and pico de gallo), and chips. There's also the $20 pack with 12 tacos. The best part is that it's open till around 1 or 2am depending on the day. Which is great for late night cravings, or if you're getting off work after 10pm and aren't in the mood for Burger King or McDonalds. Seating is limited because it is in an old Taco Bell. For beverages they offer a soda fountain with Pepsi products, Limonada, horchata, and bottled soda (Jarritos and Pepsi). Granted, it's not the best- but if your in the area it's worth the money. With its cool name and unassuming building, we swerved into here after a night at the pool hall. Coincidentally, my wife kicked my arse at said pool hall. But hey, she used to be on a league, so cut me some slack! We were craving just a small snack of sorts, and I wanted to give this place a try after reading the reviews. Homemade 'mesican' food?! Yesplz. I decided on getting some menudo, partially because I find the expression on the faces of the workers when I order it thoroughly amusing. If you could translate it into words, I would summarize it as something like "Who is this giant white boy ordering this thing in spanish?!" And I also ordered it because I do enjoy it on occasion! The wife, lavishing in her victory over me in billiards, decided on a chille relleno taco and a 'kaysadilla!" The report! The wifey enjoyed her stuff, but said it was slightly below par on the places we usually go to. The chille relleno was mucho greasy in comparison to some other places she gets it. I liked the menudo, and the usual condoments you get with it (onion, cilantro, lime, and even a dried chile.) The corn tortillas were starchy and stale..I kind've wished at this point that they could pound some mesa and make some homemade ones! Overall, twas tasty indeed. They have a pretty small menu, but they do offer homemade tamales and cart-style elote! I suggest you give it a go for something a tad different! read more

Wow! Nice family run place that just cares about serving good food from their own recipes. It's inexpensive but has great food. One of the few places that has tamales -pork, chicken, pepper & cheese and spinach. The Kansas kids behind the counter are good but the father is a great guy. Last night had a late weeknight reservation on the wonderful patio (hope they keep this open 365). Two servers were assigned for 5 people. They were so attentive and never hurried us along. The pork chops and chicken are hard to beat. Excellent all around! Single serve salsa! Could use a better tortilla chip! But we had to hold back on those knowing the meals would be substantial. THEY DELIVER!!!!! I have always seen this place, but never thought to stop there. On a whim we called to see if they delivered, and they do. The food was well priced arrived in a very reasonable time and was excellent. I got the taco dinner which consisted of three tacos beans and rice all of good proportion. The food arrived hot as well. We've been coming here for years! Excellent, fresh made Mexican food at decent prices. They offer delivery which is great on rainy days. Their late hours make it easy to get a late night snack on your way home that is actually made of real ingredients. The staff is always friendly and service has never been poor. For the record I went there 2x before I reported. I enjoyed my meal both times. Good seasoning. Good bang for the buck. Size was better than expected. This review is based entirely on takeout. My wife and sister-in-law placed an order for us all and waited an hour while others were served and got their takeouts before them. When they finally questioned the hold up they noticed their order just getting put up on the cook rack. As compensation they threw in chips and salsa (costs them pennies) and two tacos that had nothing in them. The comp tacos were corn tortillas with meat, nothing else. Side note, they didn't ask or demand anything, they just offerd this stuff. My wife's flour tacos ended up being corn. They charge extra for flour, btw. Despite all that, the food was good but all that inconvenience and bad comps drops them to two stars. I want to like this place, maybe next time I can update this review. read more

Decent Mexican food, decent variety menu and prices. Usually the service is immediate without a long wait but, BEWARE check your receipts, they pad your bill with something called a "customer service fee" without explanation and for that reason, I won't go there again. El Coyote is one word BLAND. You have to drown their food in hot sauce just to get some sort of flavor. The guacamole is good but anything other than that and the chips and salsa are a waste of time. The owner had the worst attitude didn't even greet our family when we walked thru the door , rolling his eyes because we were deciding what to eat, it's so uncomfortable to eat like that. El Coyote catered a taco and mini burrito bar for a pre-wedding yard party for 30 guests last week. Delivery of food arrived on time and hot. There was plenty of food for everyone, which included the mini burritos and soft and hard taco shells. Plenty of chips, condiments, and sauces to please everyone's pallet. Plates, plastic ware, and napkins also supplied. Our guests raved about the food and all we had to do was set it up. I would definitely recommend and use El Coyote again. Last week for lunch we had a couple of steak tacos. They were delicious. Meat was juicy everything fresh tacos are packed with meat. Today my husband picked up tacos and tamales for dinner. First time here tonight. We like to support the neighborhood businesses. I ordered chicken burrito dinner was good, food came out quick, staff friendly. Burrito was a little salty. This is my go to taco joint. I live very close and nothing in the area comes close to their tacos(I order my tacos with cilantro and onion). The El Pastor is very good, the steak is comparable to any of the top Chicago steak taco joints, and the chicken is very good as well. My wife and also love their salsas they give you when you order take out. If we don't use them all on our tacos, we use them on other homemade meals I have no complaints and do recommend El Coyote to anyone. read more

So disappointed. If you are a Mexican restaurant and can't make good tasting beans, rice and salsa, you should sell hot dogs and fries. It's a good place but the only issue I have is that it says it is open until 4am and I got there at 330 and the doors where locked.
