Pretty decent Mexican food for the price. It's built in an old Taco Bell, which turned me off at first because I could remember the childhood cringes as my mother drove down Pulaski. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night. Elote is delicious, and they make a good pozole. The chicken and mole was a little bland. Tacos are nice and hardy and come with a decent amount of meat, though little cheese. They also made a good hamburger if you've dragged along a tacophobic friend. In addition there is some non-meat choices for lent or your vegetarian friends. They offer a taco pack if your ordering for more than yourself. There's the small which is about ten and comes with 6 tacos, rice, beans, salsa ( rojo, verde, and pico de gallo), and chips. There's also the $20 pack with 12 tacos. The best part is that it's open till around 1 or 2am depending on the day. Which is great for late night cravings, or if you're getting off work after 10pm and aren't in the mood for Burger King or McDonalds. Seating is limited because it is in an old Taco Bell. For beverages they offer a soda fountain with Pepsi products, Limonada, horchata, and bottled soda (Jarritos and Pepsi). Granted, it's not the best- but if your in the area it's worth the money. Especially if you're hanging out at Bourban Street. read more

Was very disappointed tonite we ordered dinner from here had a really long day, and food was horrible. We ordered 3 steak tacos, 2 steak tostadas and 1 chili relleno taco. We sat down to eat and no steak in tacos or tostadas, it looked like ground beef, very tiny pieces and very dry. I called the restaurant and the girl laughed and said oh no it's steak, your the second customer that called tonite and said the same thing. I could not believe she thought it was funny. I told her we will never order from them again. This is not the first time the meat was like this dry and crumbly hit or miss last few times. They used to have good food. We spend anywhere from $25 up to $78 depending if we have company. Tonite was $29. I ate the one tostada and the whole thing fell apart and meat was so dry, I never even tried a taco. If the young girl had not laughed about it I probably would have just told her how dry the meat was and would have gone in to have them replace it. read more

El Coyote - Supposed to be a steak taco. Tasted more like dried out hamburger meat. - Mexican Near Me - Alsip, Illinois

Delish!! The rice and beans were awesome. We got the steak, chicken, ground beef and pastor tacos. Everything was great and reasonably priced. 100% will be coming back. read more

Great food. Very friendly staff who will prepare special requests. I love the chicken quesadillas - extra crispy. And, best thing - they deliver!!!! read more

With its cool name and unassuming building, we swerved into here after a night at the pool hall. Coincidentally, my wife kicked my arse at said pool hall. But hey, she used to be on a league, so cut me some slack! We were craving just a small snack of sorts, and I wanted to give this place a try after reading the reviews. Homemade 'mesican' food?! Yesplz. I decided on getting some menudo, partially because I find the expression on the faces of the workers when I order it thoroughly amusing. If you could translate it into words, I would summarize it as something like "Who is this giant white boy ordering this thing in spanish?!" And I also ordered it because I do enjoy it on occasion! The wife, lavishing in her victory over me in billiards, decided on a chille relleno taco and a 'kaysadilla!" The report! The wifey enjoyed her stuff, but said it was slightly below par on the places we usually go to. The chille relleno was mucho greasy in comparison to some other places she gets it. I liked the menudo, and the usual condoments you get with it (onion, cilantro, lime, and even a dried chile.) The corn tortillas were starchy and stale..I kind've wished at this point that they could pound some mesa and make some homemade ones! Overall, twas tasty indeed. They have a pretty small menu, but they do offer homemade tamales and cart-style elote! I suggest you give it a go for something a tad different! read more

Stopped in about 9:45pm. Sign showed they were open. Went to door and was told they closed. Oh well.

I've only had the Tacos and Quesadillas. Both were pretty good. The Taco Bell a block away is no competition, the food is far better st El Coyote. They are extremely friendly and always very nice here. read more

We've been coming here for years! Excellent, fresh made Mexican food at decent prices. They offer delivery which is great on rainy days. Their late hours make it easy to get a late night snack on your way home that is actually made of real ingredients. The staff is always friendly and service has never been poor. We've tried other Mexican places in the area and nothing came close in comparison to the value you get from El Coyote! read more

BEST authentic Mexican food around! LOVE... LOVE the enchiladas ala mexicana! Only place around who makes them just like my mom and grandmother did! Rice is on point! Love the homemade salsas! I plan to go there every time I crave Mexican! Great menu choices and I swear you can't go wrong with this place! Whenever I go.... I feel like I'm home with homemade food! Stop in or call your order in! That are just so nice! read more

Wow! Nice family run place that just cares about serving good food from their own recipes. It's inexpensive but has great food. One of the few places that has tamales -pork, chicken, pepper & cheese and spinach. The Kansas kids behind the counter are good but the father is a great guy. If you don't see what you want on the menu, he will make it for you. read more

Last night had a late weeknight reservation on the wonderful patio (hope they keep this open 365). Two servers were assigned for 5 people. They were so attentive and never hurried us along. The pork chops and chicken are hard to beat. Excellent all around! Single serve salsa! Could use a better tortilla chip! But we had to hold back on those knowing the meals would be substantial. Thanks to the 2 young men that provided ultimate service. read more

Don't get the Nachos ‍ can't separate shit everything stuck together. Only the burritos‍

THEY DELIVER!!!!! I have always seen this place, but never thought to stop there. On a whim we called to see if they delivered, and they do. The food was well priced arrived in a very reasonable time and was excellent. I got the taco dinner which consisted of three tacos beans and rice all of good proportion. The food arrived hot as well. My only regret is not knowing they existed sooner. Bottom line I will be back many times. read more

Love this place for tacos, flautas, burritos or anything good. Homemade tamales, churros and caldo make this the place I tell my friends about. ( I see them there sometimes) It's not fancy, but it's a great place for a bite to eat. read more

The food was pretty good for a late night treat. The picante (red as they called it) salsa is so good and spicy. The portions are nice and filling as well. read more

For the record I went there 2x before I reported. I enjoyed my meal both times. Good seasoning. Good bang for the buck. Size was better than expected. The red sauce that comes with it is what I expect when I want Hot Sauce. I think this is my new spot. I would give them ,5 stars if they had fresh hot chips. I hope they keep up the good work and pack the place. read more

The food at el coyote is nothing out of this world. I like the salsa buffet and the fact that they have some mexican brand sodas, but the overall mexican food experience is not worth the money. It is okay at best! read more

El Coyote is one word BLAND. You have to drown their food in hot sauce just to get some sort of flavor. The guacamole is good but anything other than that and the chips and salsa are a waste of time. They do give you alot of food. Alot of BLAND food. I had more leftover than I ate. It's in my neighborhood so I was a bit dissapointed. read more

I will defiantly be coming back here. The food is fresh and savory. You should never be allowed to leave without having their Horchata. Holy. read more

This review is based entirely on takeout. My wife and sister-in-law placed an order for us all and waited an hour while others were served and got their takeouts before them. When they finally questioned the hold up they noticed their order just getting put up on the cook rack. As compensation they threw in chips and salsa (costs them pennies) and two tacos that had nothing in them. The comp tacos were corn tortillas with meat, nothing else. Side note, they didn't ask or demand anything, they just offerd this stuff. My wife's flour tacos ended up being corn. They charge extra for flour, btw. Despite all that, the food was good but all that inconvenience and bad comps drops them to two stars. I want to like this place, maybe next time I can update this review. read more

Food was okay. Reminded me too much of those former "late night food, after the club, drunken" nights in college. But...their horchata is really good. read more

Decent Mexican food, decent variety menu and prices. Usually the service is immediate without a long wait but, BEWARE check your receipts, they pad your bill with something called a "customer service fee" without explanation and for that reason, I won't go there again. Other than that, a good late night fast food stop. read more

Great food in an old school take out setting with some tables. Burrito the way they should be. Fish tacos awesome.

I go here almost everyday. There horchata is to die for and there tacos are great also. Ive never ordered anything from here and not like it

This is a trusty spot for a taco salad and horchata. The steak burrito was ok...I felt like the sauce gave it it's flavor. Without the sauce, it was soso. We went for takeout and it was fast and ready when we came. It wasn't expensive. I would def go back for a steak taco salad. YUM! read more

I don't eat meat but I could eat their taco salad bowls, avocado tostadas, and spinach tamales all day. Yeah you can order off door dash but go in at least once and enjoy just how beautiful and vibrant the interior is, and how kind the staff are. read more

One of the worst places I have visited! The owner had the worst attitude didn't even greet our family when we walked thru the door , rolling his eyes because we were deciding what to eat, it's so uncomfortable to eat like that. Needles to say that it's super hot and dirty obviously no restrooms to wash hands . It smells like old oil as soon as u walk in! I will never return and give our business to this establishment! read more

I ordered delivery yesterday - guacamole, 6 tacos, and elotes. The elotes were super spicy, even for my husband who likes spicy good, but very good. Salsa also had a kick. Delivery took about 30 minutes and I highly recommend El Coyote! read more

Not bad but not the best. The place was empty I had lunch special 2 tacos, rice and beans. Food was ok. The fresh salsa was good and hot, chips were so so. Not a bad place for a quick lunch. read more

First time here tonight. We like to support the neighborhood businesses. I ordered chicken burrito dinner was good, food came out quick, staff friendly. Burrito was a little salty. My husband ordered the pastor burrito which was seasoned differently than he is used to. We would try this place again, just would order something different. read more

Honestly I have ordered here so many times I'm surprised they don't know me by name. Good portions, always hot and delivery is fast. They have the coke in the glass bottles that we love and one of the few places that can get our carnitas tacos the way we like! read more

Last week for lunch we had a couple of steak tacos. They were delicious. Meat was juicy everything fresh tacos are packed with meat. Today my husband picked up tacos and tamales for dinner. Tamales very good, the steak in the tacos were cut very small and dried out. Maybe lunch time is better. read more

This is my go to taco joint. I live very close and nothing in the area comes close to their tacos(I order my tacos with cilantro and onion). The El Pastor is very good, the steak is comparable to any of the top Chicago steak taco joints, and the chicken is very good as well. My wife and also love their salsas they give you when you order take out. If we don't use them all on our tacos, we use them on other homemade meals I have no complaints and do recommend El Coyote to anyone. read more

El Coyote catered a taco and mini burrito bar for a pre-wedding yard party for 30 guests last week. Delivery of food arrived on time and hot. There was plenty of food for everyone, which included the mini burritos and soft and hard taco shells. Plenty of chips, condiments, and sauces to please everyone's pallet. Plates, plastic ware, and napkins also supplied. Our guests raved about the food and all we had to do was set it up. I would definitely recommend and use El Coyote again. Lourdes was very helpful in placing the order. read more

I enjoy coming here. The people are very friendly. I always get the same steak tacos. If I get the dinner I always ask for 2 beans no rice. They have no problem doing that for me. It's not about there rice I'm just picky about mexican rice. Also like they are open late. They have mexican corn in a cup. read more

So disappointed. If you are a Mexican restaurant and can't make good tasting beans, rice and salsa, you should sell hot dogs and fries. Rice had no flavor, beans had no flavor and salsa was watered down. What the hell Coyote?!!! Thankfully I ordered Chorizo con huevos and the pre-made chorizo had flavor. Save your money. I should have stuck with Gallo Tapatio on 111th. It is consistently good and never disappoints. read more

Their fish tacos are amazing. The homemade tamales are great and the late night hours are even better

Open late, nicest staff around. Priced decently. Could use a little more flavor on some things, but everything else besides that is great.

Good food. Went there today and tried their taco dinner. The helpings of meat were plentiful and the fixings and side of beans and rice were fresh. I would say stop in and give them a try. read more
